Blake Shelton's acceptance speech after winning Song of the Year honors made his co-winner and wife, Miranda Lambert, cry at the CMA Awards Thursday.

Blake and Miranda co-wrote her song "Over You," and when he reflected on the emotions behind the track, she couldn't hold back the tears on stage:

"I lost my brother in a car wreck when I was 14," said Blake, one of the big CMA Awards winners. "When I decided I wanted to be a country singer, my dad always told me, ‘Son, you should write a song about your brother.’"

Shelton also lost his dad earlier this year, but he was clearly with him last night.

Blake also won male vocalist of the year award, while wife Miranda won female vocalist of the year, and the couple shared song of the year for their collaboration "Over You."

Lambert openly wept on stage as her husband recounted how his late father Dick spurred the couple to write the heart-rending song the loss of his brother Richie.

"My dad told me, 'Son, you should write a song about your brother,"' he said. "I lost my dad in January, and it's so amazing to me that tonight, after he's gone, he's still right."

"I just needed the right person to write this song with and the right person to sing it."

On the heels of news that NBC renewed The Voice for two more seasons came another round of blind auditions Tuesday. While the process is starting to drag, these singers made up for it.

In particular, Cassadee Pope made up for it.

Team Blake Shelton

Cassadee's powerhouse rendition of "Torn" got all four judges to turn around in rapid succession, a bit surprising given how discerning they've seemed with other capable vocalists.

Pope, who once toured with Fall Out Boy, ultimately went with Blake.
