Bigfoot is totally alive and out there.

So concludes research done by the Sasquatch Genome Project, which spent five yeas and $500,000 on collecting evidence to show the world that this legendary monster is really roaming the Earth.

The team shared what it billed as "never before seen HD video" at a news conference in Dallas Tuesday, with businessman backer Adrian Erickson telling a local CBS affiliate:

“People have chosen not to believe it," Erickson told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.

"They can’t find it in their minds to think these things exist.”

Bigfoot is once again back in the news, thanks to two new videos from British Columbia, Canada, that allegedly capture the hairy creature in action.

The first video (left) shows what certainly looks like a giant, ape-like creature ambling through a forest, just a little bit too far away to be seen clearly.

The second (right) appears to show a group of Chinese tourists in Mission, B.C., taking photos of a large ape-like figure creeping through the trees.

The videos, dated July 18 and 24, came to light after Canadian app Legend Tracker put out a request for videos of Bigfoot and his mythical brethren.

The legend continues ... though if that's a hoax, it's a good one.

You tell us, THGers ... Bigfoot: Real or fake?

Bigfoot is in Oregon.

At least according to a number of recent reports from residents in the rural, eastern part of the state all claiming that Sasquatch is alive and well.

People living near the Umatilla Indian Reservation have reported that they have been woken up by strange sounds coming from the nearby forest.

Bigfoot "sightings," while obviously unconfirmed, are actually fairly common in Eastern Oregon (see video above for one of the many posted online).

Bigfoot is totally real.

At least that's what veterinarian Melba S. Ketchum claims after a five-year study of more than 100 DNA samples that she believes comes from the elusive hairy beast.

Bigfoot Crossing

Under Ketchum's direction at DNA Diagnostics in Nacogdoches, Texas, a team of researchers has concluded that the creature may be a human relative.

One that somehow developed around 15,000 years ago as a result of a hybrid cross between Homo sapiens (modern humans) and an unknown primate.

A Montana man was struck and killed by a car Sunday night while apparently trying to create a Bigfoot sighting hoax, according to news reports.

The Montana Highway Patrol reported that Randy Lee Tenley of Kalispell was pronounced dead at the scene on U.S. Highway 93 near Kalispell.

Tenley was wearing a military-style camouflage suit that resembles vegetation or foliage. He was struck by two cars consecutively and killed.

Police interviewed Tenley's friends to ask why he would wear such a suit at night, and were told of Tenley's nocturnal Bigfoot-inspired mischief.

State Trooper Jim Schneider said that Tenley "was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting."

"You can't make it up. I haven't seen or heard anything like this before. Obviously, his [camo] suit made it difficult for people to see him."

The most Bigfoot sighting - in 1967 in Bluff Creek, Calif., by a man named Roger Patterson - is widely considered a hoax pulled off by a costumed man.

Whether Patterson was the hoaxer or victim of a hoax is unclear, but anyone pulling such a stunt these days is clearly taking a real risk.
