Chrystal Workman is the mother of 14-year old Modern Family star Ariel Winter.

In light of claims of physical and emotional abuse against her child, which have led to a judge ordering Winter into the custody of her sister, Workman has issued a statement that attempts to explain the situation.

"I love my daughter very much. I would never abuse her in anyway and I have always tried my best to always protect her and do what is right for her," writes Workman.

A day after reports surfaced that Modern Family star Ariel Winter has been legally removed from her home as authorities investigate claims of abuse against her mother, the 14-year old's brother has spoken out.

"There is no truth to these allegations," Jimmy Workman tells Us Weekly. "The allegations made 20 years ago are not true and the ones today are not true."

In the latter instance, Jimmy is referring to the fact that Ariel's sister - Shanelle Gray, with whom Winter currently resides - was also transplanted from her house two decades ago due to similar abuse claims.

Shanelle never returned to live with her parent.

"This is a mother who does everything for her kids," Jimmy says, adding that his mom "misses Ariel and wants her to come home."

A hearing has been scheduled on November 20 as the next step in the matter.

Ariel Winter, the 14-year old who stars as Alex on Modern Family, is at the center of a child abuse scandal.
