Having already confirmed her departure from Today, it was business as usual for Ann Curry as she began her final day on the NBC morning show.

The anchor's voice came on the air at exactly 7 a.m. EDT, informing about raging fires in Colorado, a new diet pill and Obama's health care law.

It wasn't until 8:50 a.m. that Curry got around to her farewell announcement. And what an emotional farewell it was. Watch her speech below:

Curry is expected to be named Today anchor-at-large, which she hinted at briefly in her speech, with Savannah Guthrie likely taking over her post.

Ann was fighting back tears even as she began, "This is not easy to say, but today's going to be my last morning as regular co-host of Today."

She paused as her voice cracked.

"This is not as I expected, to ever leave this couch after 15 years, but I am so grateful, especially to all of you who watch because Matt and I - and everyone who sits on this couch - we often call ourselves a family, but YOU are the real Today show family."

Ann Curry is ready to say goodbye.

With the rumors of this Today Show co-host's departure growing stronger by the second, Curry came out yesterday and acknowledged them herself, admitting her run is over and making it sound as if the announcement will be made this morning. And it won't be easy.

Ann Curry on The Today Show

It's "going to be a bit of a tough day," Curry told USA Today in a phone interview. "I'm going to have to tell our viewers. That's what makes me more emotional than anything. I don't want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them."

Curry added that she isn't sure who first leaked the story of her firing and she feels like she could have benefited from more time to work out the "kinks" in the broadcast after just a year behind the desk.

"I know I am not to blame for the ratings worries. And my bosses have said to me there are many factors involved. There is no doubt that the rating wars have become meaner and less focused on our responsibilities as journalists... And the show is still number-one in terms of ratings."

Curry is expected to be named Today Show anchor-at-large and NBC News national/international correspondent. Savannah Guthrie will likely take her anchoring post.

Are you happy to see Curry go?

Ann Curry will be fired from The Today Show any moment now.

So reports TMZ, which claims the anchor and the NBC morning program are simply haggling over contract details.

Curry is owed $20 million over the next two years and reportedly wants to pocket that dough and take her walking papers, while the network wants to give her half that amount and stick her as a foreign correspondent.

Either way, Savannah Guthrie has already struck a deal with Today and will take over for Curry as soon as she leaves, which prompts the obvious question: Which reporter would you rather... watch?

Ann Curry is nearly out.

Might Hoda Kotb be in?

With The Today Show on the verge of an anchor change, and with Meredith Vieira having turned down an offer to return, insiders tell Radar Online that Kotb may be getting the replacement call.

Hoda Kotb Picture

“Hoda scores off the charts in focus groups, and the audience can relate to her,” says the source of The Today Show's fourth hour co-host.

The long-running program is desperate to hold off Good Morning America, which has overtaken it in the ratings this spring. But would Kathie Lee's wine-drinking cohort really be the answer? Vote now:

Do you want to see Hoda Kotb replace Ann Curry?

If/when Ann Curry gets fired from Today, it will cost NBC a pretty penny.

Actually, many pretty pennies. More pretty pennies than a celebrity gossip website knows how to count.

Network insiders tell TMZ that Curry is definitely a goner next week, and that the ousting will cost NBC close to $30 million because the co-host signed a long-term contract in 2011 that guarantees her $10 million/year.

That number ought to soften the blow, huh?

Curry is also rumored to become a foreign correspondent for NBC News, a capacity that will involve... who cares?!? $30 million?!? YEESH!

With rumors swirling over Ann Curry's upcoming exit on The Today Show, a couple of poorly-timed incidents this week made life extra difficult for the NBC reporter.

First, there was the following caption, which ran underneath an interview Curry was conducting yesterday morning and which was meant to tease an appearance by Steve Carell - but which clearly, accidentally, also had a double meaning:

Then there's the latest cover of Ladies' Home Journal. It features Curry and the accompanying story finds her discussing The Today Show's recent ratings woes.

"It's hard not to take it personally," Curry tells the magazine. "You worry, Am I not good enough? Am I not what people need? Am I asking the right questions? When people say negative things or speculate, you can't help but feel hurt. I know NBC pays my salary but I have never doubted who I work for. I think about the people who watch. They're the ones who matter to me. I want to feel I haven't dropped the ball when it comes to them."

She seems like a nice, professional woman. NBC should really do Curry the favor of not dragging out this firing any longer than it has to.

Earlier this week, sources claimed Meredith Vieira was asked to come back to her old job, but turned Today down.

It's looking more and more likely as if Ann Curry is on her way out of Today.

According to The New York Times, the co-host - who took over for Meredith Viera about a year ago - would essentially be the scapegoat for the long-running NBC program, which was topped in the ratings by ABC's Good Morning America for the first time in years this spring.

It's unclear if Curry would be removed completely from the show or moved to a different role, but newspaper sources say discussions are ongoing and a decision is expected to be reached prior to NBC’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in late July.

If the ax does come down on Curry, Savannah Guthrie is expected to replace her.

Matt Lauer, meanwhile, recently renewed his contract and won't be going anywhere for awhile.
