Ann Curry has already been screwed over once by NBC.

Now she's determined for it not to happen again.

Curry, Ann

With CNN reportedly wooing the anchor, sources tell Radar Online that Curry wants out of her NBC contract. Big time.

"She has formally asked her attorney to explore exit options from the network," the Curry insider claims. "However, NBC bosses have indicated they are unwilling to release Ann from the contract. If Ann were to just quit, there is a non-compete clause, which would prohibit her from working for another news outlet for two years."

What have you done for your fellow man today?

That's what Ann Curry and many others who are following the lead of the former Today Show anchor want to know.

In response to the tragic Connecticut shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary last week, Curry penned an article for NBC News that talked of her struggles reporting from Darfur in 2007.

To cope, she tried to make a small, positive gesture in the region whenever she could. This past weekend, with a similar goal in mind, Curry Tweeted:

“Imagine if everyone could commit to doing one act of kindness for every one of those children killed in Newtown.”

And the idea caught on, with followers suggesting they up the number to 26 in honor of the adults also killed by Adam Lanza.

Might Ann Curry be headed to primetime?

The ousted Today Show anchor is reportedly being wooed by CNN and incoming new President Jeff Zucker, who starts next month and who sources tell The New York Post is hoping to shake up the ratings-challenged network.

How so?

Katie Couric may have left The Today Show in 2006, but she still has some strong opinions regarding the current state of the program. Specifically, its handling of Ann Curry.

And they aren't very positive.

Katie Couric and Ann Curry

"I felt really bad for Ann. I still don't understand why they didn't give her sort of a proper send-off," Couric told Philly.com this week as part of her promotion for Katie, which premieres on September 10, adding:

"Ann did some extraordinary work during her time there. It was just not the best chapter in The Today Show. It made me sad for the institution."

That's for sure.

Ratings for the program haven't picked up and there's reportedly even chatter that many employees want Matt Lauer gone next. The juggernaut has fallen has very hard times.

Couric, though, kicks off her talk show next month and has booked Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow as her opening day guests. She says she's inspired by Oprah, but...

"When people say, 'Are you the new Oprah?' I say, 'No, I'm the old Katie.'"

They may have been rivals for approximately one year, and Good Morning America overtaking The Today Show in the ratings may have led to Ann Curry's departure from the latter program, but that doesn't mean Robin Roberts was happy to see her fellow journalist go.

Appearing on Piers Morgan Tonight yesterday, Robert said she doesn't "take joy" in watching The Today Show fall apart, not when there are actual human beings in the other end.

"Let me tell you, the morning that Ann [Curry] said her goodbye, we were watching," Robins said. "And on our program, which you don't see very often, we spent the last couple of minutes talking about Ann Curry...and appreciating her, and such great respect."

Roberts, of course, has gone through her own emotional journey this year, having just returned to the GMA co-anchor chair after a few weeks ago.

Five months after beating breast cancer, Robins revealed this summer that she is battling a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. A bone marrow transplant is scheduled for early September.

She may still be employed by NBC, but Ann Curry is no longer the co-host of The Today Show - and the fired anchor is speaking out about the possible reasons why she lost her job.

While many believe Matt Lauer is solely to blame for Curry's ousting, the reporter tells Ladies Home Journal that she and producers clashed over a number of items through the years.

"One day I wore a multicolored dress and someone asked if I was trying to be Toucan Sam. But I chose it because I thought, This will perk up America," Curry told the publication, explaining how her style selections often led to disagreements.

"I'm encouraged by my bosses to wear these ridiculously high-heeled shoes because women say, 'I love your shoes!' So if it makes women happy, I'll wear them. But I'm still going to be me... I've tried to wear clogs and flats on TV and it hasn't gone well with my bosses."

Ann Curry couldn't help by cry when she made her final appearance as co-host of The Today Show.

But in light of that program's steady decline in the ratings, sources now say the only tears this reporter is shedding are those of joy.

"Ann feels completely vindicated by The Today Show's poor ratings since she left," an insider tells Radar Online. "She feels she was fired completely unfairly and wasn't given a fair shot at the gig."

Indeed, Savannah Guthrie has taken over for Curry, but Today continues to lose out to rival Good Morning America.

"Ann feels she was made a scapegoat by the network and that it's the whole show that needed an overhaul, not her replacing," added this source, saying Curry is especially peeved at Matt Lauer, who many say was responsible for giving his coworker the boot.

"There's definitely no love lost for Lauer, who she feels threw her under the bus completely."

Savvy viewers noted it: Ann Curry did not look Matt Lauer in the eye during his farewell speech to her on Curry's final day as The Today Show co-host. She also barely acknowledged his hug.

Now we know why: according to an Us Weekly source, Lauer was "100 percent behind Ann leaving" the morning program after just one year, with the reporters "really icy to each other" in the days leading up to the official ousting.

"She refused to speak to him all week," an insider said of Curry.

Ann Curry and Matt Lauer

Curry has been demoted to foreign correspondent for NBC, while Savannah Guthrie now occupies her chair alongside Lauer.

But it didn't go unnoticed by many that Curry didn't officially introduce Guthrie last week, and on Savannah's first full day as co-host, nary a word was spoken about the woman she replaced.

Somewhere, Conan O'Brien is feeling Curry's pain.

If you tuned in to NBC's Today for the first time Friday and observed Savannah Guthrie alongside Matt Lauer, you'd never have known Ann Curry existed.

The morning show opened with Guthrie and Lauer behind the desk, minus the usual voiceover announcing the anchors or graphics identifying them.

Matt and Savannah simply launched right into the news.

Even at 9 a.m., when Savannah Guthrie typically handles the bulk of the show's content, there was zero mention of the shakeup, which became official with Ann Curry's farewell speech on Today not even 24 hours prior.

Instead, she, Lauer and Al Roker segued from a Maroon 5 performance to local news, weather and Guthrie running solo on the first segment of the hour.

She later was joined by Roker and Natalie Morales, who was reportedly in the running to replace Curry (which could have led to Matt Lauer's divorce).

Though Guthrie (pictured) is presumed to be Curry’s successor, especially after what we witnessed today, NBC has yet to make an official announcement.
