Jolie Focuses on Serious Roles; Brangelina Focuses on Serious Charity
Goodbye, Tomb Raider. Hello, Oscar?
In between flying lessons, it appears as though Angelina Jolie has sworn off mindless, popcorn flick roles for awhile. Lara Croft may be history forever for this actress.
The latest, serious role for Jolie is the lead in Ayn Rand's iconic novel "Atlas Shrugged" for Lions Gate Films. Fortunately, she didn't steal this part from Jennifer Aniston. In the movie, Shiloh's mom will take on the challenging, conflicted character of railroad executive Dagny Taggart in the Rand adaptation, a film that other producers have tried to bring to the big screen for years.
Other weighty roles Jolie will be taking on certainly do not include Kate Bosworth. HA!
But she'll be in Robert DeNiro's The Good Shepherd this winter. As for something that Maddox, Zahara, and Shiloh can watch their mommy, there's always the cartoon Kung Fu Panda in which Jolie has a voice-over role.
Meanwhile, Brangelina has created a new charitable foundation that will aid humanitarian causes around the globe. It will first donate $2 million â" half to Global Action for Children and the other half to Doctors Without Borders.
Brangelina Rallies Behind Shiloh, Zahara
Proud parents Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are fed up. At world hunger and abject poverty, sure. But also at the results of our exclusive new celebrity baby POLL! Their lovely young child has not jumped out to the commanding cuteness lead many oddsmakers expected!
With all the commotion made over the Suri Cruise mystery and with a hyper-fertile Britney Spears cranking out two kids in just under a year, Brangelina is feeling all but forgotten about. And they're not gonna stand for it.
The couple took the time to submit a few pics of baby Shiloh to us, and even threw in a bonus pic of Zahara in order to further make their case. No Maddox, though -- we already talked about that little dude this week. See below:
NOTE: They didn't really send these pics, we found them on the Internets.
Maddox Jolie-Pitt, Forgotten, Adorable Child, Dreams of Soccer Riches
You can't blame Maddox Jolie-Pitt for often feeling left out. The tyke is considered the cutest celebrity baby out there, yet all he hears about is his sister, Shiloh.
Or that Scientology spawn, Suri Cruise.
And just when that drama calms down, Britney Spears goes ahead and gives birth once more.
Is it any wonder that little Maddox feels bitter and betrayed? He's obviously trying to ditch the spotlight of Hollywood in exchange for the glory of the soccer field. Just take a look at him here, trying to bend it like David Beckham.
Let's see Shiloh do this!
Air Angelina Ready for Take Off?
She may not be getting married any time soon, but that hasn't stopped Angelina Jolie from seeking new adventures in life.
Reports are coming in that the actress has been taking to the skies recently, signing up for flight lessons over the weekend and trying to prove that she's about more than stealing cars. That was a Gone in 60 Seconds joke.
Jolie was training at Milton Air in Burbank, where it's clear she's lost the baby weight (pictured) after giving birth to baby Shiloh Nouvel.
Brad Pitt eventually joined his gal pal, but then sped off on his motorcycle on the way to the airport to film the new movie, Babel.
We'll be honest, we always fantasized about Angelina Jolie going down. But the idea of her going up in the sky is hot, too.
Brangelina to Get Married ... As Soon as Gay Marriage is Nice and Legal
When will Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie get married?
It's a question on the minds of all fans - and Pitt recently gave an interesting, liberal answer.
"Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able," the 42-year-old actor says in Esquire magazine's October issue.
Lance Bass, Ellen DeGeneres and even non-celebrity homosexuals, we think he's talking about you.
Speaking about he and Jolie's kids, Pitt makes it clear that his adopted brood mean as much to him as the baby he and Angelina had together, Shiloh.
Pitt says he "cannot imagine life" without children, Maddox, 5, and Zahara, 1.
"They're as much of my blood as any natural born, and I'm theirs," says Pitt. "That's all I can say about it. I can't live without them. So: Anyone considering (adoption), that's my vote."
Pitt, who plays a world traveler in the upcoming drama Babel, believes in a laid-back parenting style.
"I try not to stifle them in any way," he says. "If it's not hurting anyone, I want them to be able to explore. Sometimes that means they're quite rambunctious."
Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Threesome Planned
Sort of.
But just as Jennifer Aniston worked to keep her breasts private, an artist with far too much time on his hands plans on making them public ...
... while inserting them in a threesome with ex-husband Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie!
Yes, Daniel Edwards has decided to start a bronze sculpture depicting these three celebrities in a rather intimate setting. According to reports, Jolie and Aniston aren't too pleased with this news and plan on doing everything they can to keep the sculpture from being exhibited, but Pitt doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
Shocking.
Edwards, of course, is the same idiot who made headlines with his sculpture of Britney Spears giving birth on a bearskin rug. Poor guy has to keep one-upping himself.
This guy really needs a hobby. Well, a new hobby.
Pitt Announces Design Competition Winner; Brangelina Focuses on New Orleans
The winners of an architectural design contest to help rebuild New Orleans has been announced by Brad Pitt.
New York city architects Andrew Kotchen and Matthew Berman earned the honor. Pitt has been working with Global Green USA in hopes of creating environmentally friendly housing in a redevelopment project in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, a neighborhood hard hit by Hurricane Katrina.
At the news conference announcing the contest victors, Pitt shared more of his thoughts on the devasation:
"I am appalled and embarrassed that residents still do not have the opportunity ... to decide if they want to get back into their neighborhoods and recreate their communities... [But] I'm very, very excited about the result. There are a lot of great ideas that came across the table."
The handsome, helpful actor was joined by his lady friend, Angelina Jolie, and their kids. The couple vowed to spend a lot more time in the area.
Angelina Jolie Avoids Papa Voight at Party
Angelina Jolie still isn't ready to make amends with her father, actor Jon Voight.
The beautiful actress actually remained in the car (TMZ.com even provided us with a picture!) with hubby, Brad Pitt, because Voight was attending the same party as Jolie was headed to.
The birthday bash was for Scott Caan, Pitt's co-star in Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12. After a half-hour of playing games such as License Plates and Geography in the car, Pitt joined the festivities by himself. Soon after, Voight exited and Angelina was able to boogie the night away.
This father/daughter feud escalated in 2002 when the actor went on TV and said Jolie had "mental problems." For whatever reason, Angelina didn't take very kindly to that remark.
Sort of makes the problems you've had with your pops a bit less trouble, eh, Beyonce?
Celebrity Look-Alikes, Vol. 6
We know we'll never top Saddam Hussein and Mel Gibson. Sometimes the stars are aligned, the anti-semitic remaks are flowing and everything just falls into place.
But we can't give up. That's why we've given Angelina Jolie and Vanessa Minnillo a pair of dark sunglasses, asked them to purse those full lips and admired the similiarities. The sexy, sexy similarities ...
Jolie, Pitt and Shiloh Wax Figures on Display
Who says you need to accomplish anything in order to receive an honor? Sometimes, just being born to the most beautiful parents on earth is enough.
Just ask Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.
The eight-week old has received a tribute once reserved for Oscar winners and world leaders: her own wax figure.
Yes, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has been immortalized at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in New York City in the museum's first-ever wax infant replica. Suri Cruise will join her as soon as that baby is discovered.
The figure, which took two weeks to construct, naps perpetually beneath the loving, eerie gaze of her wax parents in a jungle-themed nursery in honor of the family's African roots.
"Even though she's just a few months old, Shiloh is already an iconic figure in world popular culture," said Madame Tussauds general manager Janine DiGioacchino.
To honor Shiloh's parents' commitment to charity, while the exhibit lasts Madame Tussauds will give $1 to UNICEF for every Pitt-Jolie family photo that visitors buy.
"We are proud to follow Angelina's and Brad's good example by donating to UNICEF â" an organization dedicated to preserving children's rights around the world," DiGioacchino says.
We can't argue with that. We just wonder when Maddox is gonna snap. The kid is frickin cute!
