Amanda Bynes' mother has taken her off medication and claims she has no mental illness, a statement and turn of events that has left many people alarmed.

Lynn Bynes says the only problem Amanda had was pot, that all her daughter's problems emanated from marijuana, and she has quit smoking weed.

As a result, Amanda is off ALL medications. Lynn said publicly Wednesday that "she has no mental illness whatsoever." Tamar Arminak, Lynn's lawyer, confirms:

"Amanda is now on zero medication."

Her mom feels all the talk about schizophrenia is false and that's why she took her off medication; Amanda has had no psychotic episodes in recent months.

Everyone else who has come in contact with Amanda says she does in fact suffer from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, however, and they are concerned.

The evidence of mental illness is extensive, and not just because of the photo gallery above and her erratic behavior for about a year and a half. Consider:

Amanda Bynes is making progress each and every day, and her mom Lynn as been praised by the judge overseeing her case for helping facilitate that.

Lynn Bynes became conservator during the troubled star's darkest hours after she started a fire in a neighbor's driveway and soaked her dog in gasoline.

Amanda Bynes was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, spending three months receiving in-patient treatment for her obvious, severe mental issues.

She's been released into her parents' care, however, and apparently it's going well there, as evidenced by Lynn and Rick Bynes' appearance in court Tuesday.

Lynn was appointed conservator of Amanda's estate, making her the shot-caller when it comes to her health care, finances and overall well being.

Britney Spears' father, Jamie, was famously appointed to this same role following her meltdown in 2007-08, and the pop icon really turned things around.

There's nothing like home for the holidays, and for one troubled actress, after the events of the past year, it's been a long and difficult time coming.

Amanda Bynes has finished her inpatient treatment and is currently recovering at her parents' Los Angeles home, her mother's attorney confirms.

"Amanda and her entire family would like to thank everyone who's contacted them with good thoughts and wishes for Amanda's recovery," says Tamar Arminak.

"Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day."

The 27-year-old had been forcibly hospitalized and held involuntarily at UCLA Medical Center following a bizarre driveway-burning incident in July.

She was eventually moved to a Malibu rehab facility, but had not been free until recently, meaning she spent nearly half of this year receiving treatment.

Following months of speculation about Amanda Bynes‘ mental illness, a new report indicates that the star has both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The formal diagnosis was made while Amanda was still being treated at UCLA Medical Center, which she recently left for a rehab center in Malibu.

“It was difficult to process for her  parents," a source said, despite the fact that Amanda Bynes' mental illness was what they both expected.

The bright side here is that it is believed that Amanda can lead a long, healthy and normal life as long as she takes medication, according to insiders.

Doctors at the treatment facility "are still working to get her therapeutic meds and she’s responding to medication she is being given to treat her diagnosis.”

Amanda Bynes has bolted from UCLA Medical Center, where she'd been residing, for a rehab center across the county which has no psychiatric facilities.

What is going on here?

'Manda

The actress, 27, was being treated for severe mental illness at UCLA, but is now living at a fancy Malibu rehab center that caters to celebrities instead.

It's shocking, really, because according to TMZ, the facility does not have the psychiatric facilities available at UCLA, and Amanda Bynes is in a desperate state.

Even more incredibly, she was under a special hold, called an LPS, which her doctors were granted because they were so concerned about her well being.

It had been speculated she might remain there until next year or even 2015.

Troubled actress Amanda Bynes is suffering from severe mental illness and is unfit to stand trial, according to the attorney representing her in her DUI case.

The 27-year-old star was supposed to appear in court yesterday in the DUI case, following her arrest in West Hollywood, Calif., back in April 2012.

Amanda's lawyer, Rich Hutton, told the judge that his client "does not have the mental capacity" to even understand the nature of the proceedings.

In other words, she has no idea what she's being charged with, nor can she grasp the consequences. If you assume that's true, it's both amazing and sad.

The judge transferred the matter to the mental health court.

The cost of Amanda Bynes' psychiatric care inside UCLA Medical Center is reportedly so staggering, you would need "Olsen Twins money" to pay for it.

The actress, fortunately, is well off (albeit nowhere near the same league as Mary-Kate and Ashley, as she once dubiously claimed), because ... wow.

It's currently running her $3,500. A day.

The cost is so high because it covers not just around-the-clock treatment for severe mental illness, but her living expenses as well. Still, it's a huge price.

A judge ruled that doctors could keep Amanda on a long-term hold for up to a year, although the goal is 60 days, after which she'd live with her mom.

For reference, 60 days would run her $210,000, while a full year would be upwards of $1,250,000. Her SAG insurance covers just a small portion of the cost.

Bynes, whose mom now controls her finances, is reportedly worth $4 million, though she has been burning through it like crazy over the past year.

Amanda Bynes' team of doctors is recommending long-term, in-patient treatment to combat the actress' severe mental illness, a new report states.

Doctors at UCLA Medical Center will submit a recommendation to the judge overseeing her mother Lynn‘s bid to gain conservatorship of her daughter.

In it, they will push for long-term hospitalization of the former child star.

Amanda Bynes is being treated for a serious mental health disorder and is under temporary conservatorship of her mother until at least September 30.

At that date, a hearing will be held to determine her status.
