Amanda Bynes has been deemed competent to stand trial for DUI.

A judge reviewed the court-ordered medical evaluation of the star, and found she is capable of understanding the nature of the criminal charges she faces.

As such, the criminal case against her, which was put on hold given her mental illness, proceeds after Bynes' attorney did not object to the findings.

This marks a reversal from previous evaluations (above) that questioned the troubled 27-year-old's ability to stand trial for any criminal offense.

All in all, the finding has little or no implications on the actress.

The ruling will have no impact on her conservatorship, because understanding the nature of legal issues and being able to care for herself are different things.

She may be released into her mother's care by the holidays.

The long-troubled and hospitalized star Amanda Bynes will be back home in her own bed by Christmas if all goes according to plan, a new report indicates.

The 27-year-old's medications and psychological counseling have sufficiently stabilized her so her doctors will let her leave the Malibu rehab facility.

She's been held there, involuntarily, since September.

Prior to the Malibu location, Amanda was at the UCLA psychiatric ward, where she felt that the conditions were actually preventing her from improving.

Doctors will release Amanda to the care of her mom, Lynn, who will then take her to the family house in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and provide supervision.

The move will take place sometime next month.

Amanda Bynes' mother, Lynn, is speaking out for the first time about the troubled actress' mental health hospitalization and the many rumors surrounding her.

Lynn says that she has never once provided information on Amanda's treatment, and until she does, don't assume anything you read to be the truth.

"I would like everyone out there to know that almost 99 percent of the things written about my daughter in various media outlets are false or misleading."

"Please know that neither myself or other family members have ever released any information regarding her treatment or diagnosis," she added.

"Unless it's a statement issued by our family attorney, Tamar Arminak, please take everything you read about Amanda Bynes with a grain of salt."

Following months of speculation about Amanda Bynes‘ mental illness, a new report indicates that the star has both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

The formal diagnosis was made while Amanda was still being treated at UCLA Medical Center, which she recently left for a rehab center in Malibu.

“It was difficult to process for her  parents," a source said, despite the fact that Amanda Bynes' mental illness was what they both expected.

The bright side here is that it is believed that Amanda can lead a long, healthy and normal life as long as she takes medication, according to insiders.

Doctors at the treatment facility "are still working to get her therapeutic meds and she’s responding to medication she is being given to treat her diagnosis.”

The decision to move Amanda Bynes from the psychiatric ward of a major hospital to a ritzy rehab center was made for her own good, her parents say.

Rick and Lynn Bynes commented on a previous report about their daughter shifting locations three weeks ago and leaving UCLA Medical Center.

Amanda's new home? The Canyon rehab facility in Malibu.

Her parents, via attorney Tamar Arminak, say the move was advised by the doctors at UCLA, and that she is "making great strides towards recovery."

'Manda

The actress, 27, was being treated for severe mental illness at UCLA, but is now living at a fancy Malibu rehab center that caters to celebrities instead.

It's shocking, really, because according to TMZ, the facility does not have the psychiatric facilities available at UCLA, and Amanda Bynes is in a desperate state.

Even more incredibly, she was under a special hold, called an LPS, which her doctors were granted because they were so concerned about her well being.

It had been speculated she might remain there until next year or even 2015.

Troubled actress Amanda Bynes is suffering from severe mental illness and is unfit to stand trial, according to the attorney representing her in her DUI case.

The 27-year-old star was supposed to appear in court yesterday in the DUI case, following her arrest in West Hollywood, Calif., back in April 2012.

Amanda's lawyer, Rich Hutton, told the judge that his client "does not have the mental capacity" to even understand the nature of the proceedings.
