Speaking to celebrity gossip sources about his latest charitable efforts, New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez briefly spoke on his relationship with Madonna.

"We're friends," Rodriguez said. "We're friends - that's it."

While rumors have swirled that the slugger has been carrying on a romantic relationship and flying around the country in order to spend time with Madonna, "I can tell you this," he said, "I've never been on a plane with her."

A-Rod did not address yesterday's rumors that he's been railing Melissa Britos, however he did add that he finds celeb gossip reports about himself laughable:

"I've been to two [of her] concerts, yet I've read that I went to 20. I've also read that we were buying an apartment together. That is absolutely ridiculous and not true... You have to have a sense of humor when it comes to this stuff."

When pressed on how much time they have spent together, and whether he had ever stayed the night at Madonna's home, Alex Rodriguez commented:

"If I answered every rumor we'd be here for three weeks."

A source close to A-Rod also says that reports of Madonna and Alex Rodriguez spending the night together are "completely and unequivocably false."

Okay, so they're not house hunting. But there's surely something going on. A-Rod doesn't have female friends, only women he hasn't hit home runs with yet.

Having gone sort of public as a couple just last week, Alex Rodriguez is already cheating on Madonna with Melissa Britos, according to celebrity gossip sources.

All the way back in mid-November, A-Rod allegedly met and came "obsessed" with Melissa Britos, a model, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach opening party.

One of the model's friends said, "He became obsessed with her. He sent her at least a dozen text messages, asking her to spend time with him."

A few days later, the Rod was seen dropping Melissa Britos off at her hotel and she wearing the same clothes she had on the night before. Oooh!

Then, this past weekend, which Madonna and Alex Rodriguez spent part of together, he was also at Miami's LIV nightclub checking out other women.

MADONNA WHO? Alex Rodriguez reportedly has his sights set on model Melissa Britos. This man is prolific at rounding the bases. From November-March, at least.

One of A-Rod's friends told In Touch about his playing of the field:

"Alex is definitely excited by Madonna and wants to spend time with her. But when she's not around and he is left to his own devices, he still wants the company of other beautiful women. He can't help it. It's in his nature."

Just like delivering hits after the sixth inning isn't.

New York's hottest new sort-of-confirmed celeb couple, Madonna and Alex Rodriguez, are quietly shopping for love nests on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, as well as on the East End of Long Island, sources tell the New York Post.

A knowledgeable real estate source reports that the kabbalah-crazed singer and the skirt-chasing slugger are "discreetly looking at properties between Fifth and Park avenues, from just above 60th Street through the 80s.

"Madonna personally came to look at one house a couple of months ago, and Alex has been looking recently," the insider said. "We're talking about private, double-width mansions in the vicinity of $30 million to $60 million."

Madge and A-Rod are also interested in scoring a house "with a garage that you can drive into for privacy - although those are rare and hard to come by," a spy added. Another source said they were also looking in the Hamptons.

A-Rod, meanwhile, continues to try to unload the home he shared with ex-wife Cynthia Rodriguez - dropping the price on the four-bedroom, 4,600-square-foot pad at Trump Park Avenue to $10 million, down from the original $14 million.

The Rod is also willing to rent it for $50,000 a month. What a steal. Madonna, meanwhile, is hanging on to her posh Central Park West apartment.

Last week, after celebrity gossip tabloids revealed he planned on dumping his kids on Thanksgiving to spend the day with Madonna, shame-faced A-Rod and Madge flew together on a private jet to Miami, where she performed.

While Alex did see his two daughters (ages 3 and six months) on the holiday, the lovebirds later flew to Mexico together for the weekend.

Madonna and Alex Rodriguez were spotted in Mexico City last weekend.

The two have not confirmed their romance on the record, but reportedly had a public "coming out" November 26, when, according to E! Online, the Yankees third baseman handed Madonna a water bottle during her Miami concert.

A-Rod and Madonna also apparently met up on Thanksgiving, after the New York Yankees star fulfilled his family obligations. Lame kids and ex-wife. Zzz.

When asked what he thought about being in the capital city the same time as his rumored paramour, the baseball star would only say it was "very good."

The 50-year-old Madonna – whose divorce from director husband Guy Ritchie was finalized days ago – was in town to perform a pair of concerts on her tour.

The former Mr. Cynthia Rodriguez, meanwhile, was invited to inaugurate a new sports complex in the city, and spent two hours Sunday teaching kids to bat.

"It's been a pleasure to talk about baseball, to talk about the importance of keeping children off the streets, out of drugs and out of all the bad things that there are in this life," the 33-year-old slugger said in Spanish.

The Yankees slugger, who ditched his wife of over six years, Cynthia Rodriguez, after becoming smitten with Madonna, is a "soul-less" man who is eschewing his kids on Thanksgiving in favor of his lover, according to C-Rod.

According to Access Hollywood and the New York Post, Cynthia, who's in the final stages of her divorce from A-Rod, wrote this e-mail to a confidant:

"My 6-foot-3, 220-pound soul-less, soon-to-be ex-husband is abandoning his kids on Thanksgiving Day to be with Madonna ... She called and he ran on her command back to New York City ... Gross!"

Way to include his height and weight, Cyn.

This sums up the respective attitudes of A-Rod and Cynthia these days.

Instead of ushering in the holidays in Miami with his children, Natasha, 4, and Ella, 1 - A-Rod, 33, is hosting a dinner at his Manhattan apartment for Madonna, 50, and her kids, Lourdes, Rocco and David, and manager Guy Oseary.

So much for the friction between Madonna and Alex Rodriguez we reported earlier, amid reports that she's pissed over his indifference toward Kabbalah.

To add insult to injury, after Alex Rodriguez left Miami at Madonna's beck and call, his lawyer asked C-Rod to sign the couple's divorce settlement.

Madonna is reportedly furious that Alex Rodriguez dropped out of Kabbalah training because he was "bored," according to celebrity news reports.

The 50-year-old singer - whose divorce from Guy Ritchie was granted last week - has so far failed in her attempts to get rumored new boyfriend to share her deep level of interest in Kabbalah, a mystical off-shoot of Judaism.

This report comes in spite of the fact that A-Rod reportedly told a friend earlier this year that Madonna is his "f*%king soulmate, dude." What a loser.

Alex split with wife Cynthia Rodriguez a few months ago. Since then, his relationship with the singer has reportedly gotten physical. But for how long?

A source at New York's Kabbalah Center, where the New York Yankees star had been attending private classes with spiritual leader Eitan Yardeni, said:

"He hasn't even finished Kabbalah 1 (the introduction to Kabbalah) and the majority of the time he spent with Yardeni so far was for counseling, not study."

Madonna - whose efforts to make Guy Ritchie interested in the religion failed after the director branded it "weird" and "hokum" - is said to be considering whether to proceed in her relationship with A-Rod as a result of his indifference.

A source told MSNBC:

"This is certainly off-putting to Madonna. She did drag Guy into Kabbalah, she's doing the same with Alex. But he's bored. He's basically a Kabbalah dropout."

Well, Alex Rodriguez hasn't commented on the record, but the Bronx baller has to be stoked as $h!t that his "f*%king soulmate, dude" is officially a free woman.

The BBC reports that according to court lists, Madonna and that Guy she was married to will be granted a preliminary divorce at the High Court in London on Friday.

According to British celebrity news reports, Madonna, 50, and Guy Ritchie, 40, reached a settlement over money and kids Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, and David, 3.

London's Evening Standard reports that Madonna will keep the bulk of her estimated $500 million fortune, though Ritchie was entitled by law to a share of it.

"He could have hugely boosted his bank balance and set himself up for life, but he already feels he has enough money," a pal of Guy told the the Standard.

"But he also didn't want the whole thing dragging on in the public gaze for months and months on end. In any case, his priority was their children's future."

Madonna and Ritchie were married in 2000, shortly after the birth of son Rocco. Since the split, Madonna and Alex Rodriguez, the baseball star whose relationship with her reportedly played a role in his own divorce, have been "involved."

A-Rod split with Cynthia Rodriguez earlier this year, after his alleged "affair of the heart" with Madonna and affairs of additional body parts with other skanks.
