Lapeer, Mich., police are looking for three suspects in the Alex Band abduction case, believing The Calling singer when he insists it was not a hoax.

Local officials are seeking a scruffy-faced white male, 30-ish and armed with a gun, wearing a backwards camouflage cap, and two other goons.

Cops say Alex described the van he was abducted in as a blue minivan, and that surveillance footage is being combed from the area of the attack.

Police are trying to pin down an image of the abductor(s), but clearly believe Alex Band's story of being nabbed, beaten and left on the train tracks.

The singer's abduction took place just as The Calling announced its comeback after a decade away from music, prompting obligatory HOAX! claims.

Investigators are planning to release a description of the suspects, who are still at large, later today, so they're not buying any conspiracy theories.

The Calling lead singer Alex Band was abducted, beaten and robbed Sunday, he says, just hours before his group announced a comeback effort.

He suffered "a fractured lower spine, 15 stitches to lower chin, three broken teeth and is bruised on his side and stomach" from the baton beating.

He denied that the attack was related to his drug use or a hoax.

"This just happened to me. I didn't kidnap myself, or beat the crap out of myself. So the whole hoax thing is honestly kind of disgusting to hear," he told CNN.

He told investigators he was walking down a street in downtown Lapeer, Mich., where his group had just performed at a music festival, about 3 a.m. Sunday.

That's when two men grabbed him and dragged him into a van.

Alex Band, the lead singer of the rock band The Calling, was abducted in Michigan this weekend, thrown into a van, beaten up and left on the train tracks.

The reasons why are entirely unclear.
