Congratulations are in order for Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai.

The 38-year old and husband Abhishek Bachchan are the excited parents of a girl, the latter's father announced on Twitter today, writing: “I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl!! Ecstatic!!!! Thank you all.”

Aishwarya was reportedly admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Monday, later giving birth to the couple's first child. They've been married for four years and we wish all involved nothing but health and happiness.

It's an exciting day for Indian actress Aishwarya Rai and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan. They are expecting their first child!

The announcement was made by Bachchan's father, who couldn't contain his enthusiasm in Tweeting:

“T 410 -NEWS NEWS NEWS !! I AM GOING TO BECOME A GRANDFATHER .. AISHWARYA EXPECTING .. SO HAPPY AND THRILLED !!!”

It's a battle of Hollywood vs. Bollywood!

While most readers are familiar with the pair known as "Brangelina" in the States, a contender is emerging from abroad for the title of Hottest, Coolest Couple on the Planet. And no, it isn't David and Victoria Beckham.

Over the weekend, Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan finally tied the knot after months of hype.

And while Bachchan didn't cheat on Jennifer Aniston during his courtship of the former Miss World, the love birds are still being compared to a certain powerful pair of actors in America.

Does Angelina Jolie have the strength to compete with Aishwarya after months spent adopting another child and not eating? And can Brad Pitt stave off the popularity of Abhishek? Or is the Hollywood hunk too busy playing the role of cute father to Shiloh Nouvel?

Only time will tell. In the meantime, Katie Price, her huge boobs and her husband, Peter Andre, will be doing all they can to make a similarly big name for themselves across the world.

They really have no idea how to celebrate a celebrity wedding in India. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes need to get on the phone, ASAP.

After all, two of India's hottest movie stars, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, have secretly sent invitations to their private wedding this month. a newspaper reported Thursday, not even alerting Hollywood gossip rags, such as this one, about who's invited.

The nerve!

For weeks, the Indian media has been reporting that the Bollywood couple will wed in a small private ceremony on April 20 at Bachchan's family home in suburban Mumbai. But the couple, sadly, won't be following the lead of Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar - no multi-marriage, spotlight-grabbing nuptials for this pair.

And why is that unfortunate? Well, have you ever seen an Aishwarya Rai photo? The more we can get this beauty in the news, the better.

For now, we'll have to hope that Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault have the sort of lavish Hollywood ceremony we're used to in the States. That'll show Aishwarya how it's done!

Unfamiliar to many in the United States, Aishwarya Rai has made her presence felt on the Bollywood scene for years.

She's starred in over 50 films and, according to AskMen.com at least, is highly desirable; the website has listed her at number-40 on this year's list of the top 99 women in the universe.

Rai won the Miss World competition in 1994 and, unlike Tara Conner, didn't humilate the honor of pageant winner. Conversely, she's taken it to new levels, as 60 Minutes hailed her as "The Most Beautiful Face in the World."
