The Voice's top eight hopefuls took the stage Monday night with the stakes higher than ever. Only six will move on to next week, and there are no weak links left.
In short, it's anyone's game ... to win or lose.
Everybody came to play, that's for sure. After last week's The Voice was widely touted as as its best episode ever, this one gave it a run for its money. Here's why:

Chief among them? America's Sweetheart, Cassadee Pope, covering her coach's wife and bringing the house down with Miranda Lambert's "Over You" ...

The Voice results show set a new precedent tonight.
Unlike previous seasons, the singers are no longer exclusively battling their team, and the coaches no longer have a say in who stays beyond The Voice Top 12.
In other words, it's anyone's game, and any team could lose two singers in a given week (some speculated this would happen to Christina right off the bat, in fact).

The Voice's top 12 performed Monday night, with a twist: 10 will advance, with the coaches having no say. America's votes will be the only determining factor.
Also, no coach is guaranteed a spot in the finals, meaning any remaining singer can be voted off at any time. In other words, it's crunch time. So how'd they do?

Adam Levine is, once again, speaking out in defense of fellow Voice coach Christina Aguilera, who has endured criticism over her weight in recent months.
During an appearance on Ellen (airing Monday), he said:
"It's a very basic thing. She should be left alone. No one should bother or haggle her about her weight or anything she does or says. So, that's it. That's how I feel about it."
Well put.
After two electrifying live playoff rounds, it was elimination time on The Voice tonight.
For eight of the 20 singers. That's right, only three of five would survive from each team - two chosen by your votes, and one by his or her respective coach.

Unlike Monday's live playoffs, one team totally outshone the other this week. Misfits they may seem, but Cee Lo's is clearly the deeper, more talented squad.
