Back in 2014, we reported that Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak had gotten engaged after many years of dating.
Now, after a lengthy engagement by most standards, it seems the longtime couple has finally taken the plunge.
They’re married!
Reps for the duo confirmed to Page Six that Parsons and Spiewak got married at the Rainbow Room on Saturday.
If you watch The Big Bang Theory online, you know that Parsons’ character, Sheldon Cooper, concluded the season by proposing to his longtime girlfriend, played by Mayim Bialik.
Was it a coincidence?
An inside joke between Parsons and the writers?
The result of TBBT having been on the air for approximately 47 years, and reaching that “late season Friends” stage of being forced to marry characters off in order to cobble together some semblance of a plot?
We may never know, as Parsons is notoriously secretive about his private life.
In fact, Parsons die-hards were surprised when he posted a shout-out to Spiewak on his Instagram page last week.
Parsons captioned the pic of Spiewak singing:
“I met this guy (the one with the mic) 14 years ago today and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, no contest.”
“One of his greatest gifts to me is that he no longer takes me to sing karaoke.”
For the sake of his younger fans, the 44-year-old actor added:
“Also, I believe this was a selfie with an actual camera, as our phones couldn’t do that back then hahaha! #todd #anniversary.”
Yes, it’s hard to believe, but there was a time when we didn’t all carry wildly sophisticated computers in our pockets.
Ca-razy!
Parsons and the rest of the Big Bang Theory cast offered to take pay cuts recently, but Parsons isn’t exactly struggling.
He remains one of TV’s highest-paid actors, every year, and it doesn’t look like the cash will stop flowing any time soon.
First and foremost, TBBT will probably remain on the air somewhere long after the sun expands and engulfs the Earth.
Give or take. We can’t predict the future, but we won’t live to see a day when reruns aren’t showing, that’s for sure.
Moreover, a spinoff about Sheldon’s childhood is currently in the works, with Parsons providing voice-over narration!
So congrats to Jim and Todd! Both on the marriage and making love last this long, and on being loaded beyond belief.
The rest of his co-stars aren’t doing so bad either, as the gallery below makes clear … though they’ve come a long way.
