In case you haven't heard, The Hills' resident career girl, Whitney Port, is heading to The City (also known as New York City) to take on life and the fashion industry on MTV’s spin-off series, which premieres December 29 at 10 p.m.

Along with Aussie boyfriend Jay Lyon, the show will feature a couple of her friends. Here are Olivia Palermo (left) and Erin Lucas (right) with Whitney (center) ...

Having risen to quasi-fame on MTV's The Hills, Whitney Port is trading up to her own, NYC-based reality show, The City. She looks gorgeous on the cover of Page Six Magazine, which (perhaps prematurely) anoints her the new Carrie Bradshaw.

Sex and the City comparisons aside, it's great to be Whitney Port these days. Here's what one of The Hollywood Gossip's favorite celebs had to say about ...

... how she happened to be cast on The Hills: “I had an interview [for an internship at Teen Vogue] and then got a phone call from MTV a couple of days later. They were like, ‘We’re shooting this documentary-style TV show about girls growing up in L.A. and the fashion industry, blah blah blah’ and I was like, ‘OK that’s interesting, whatever.’ And the next thing I knew they wanted to cast me on the show. But I was really just trying to get the job at Teen Vogue!”

... keeping in touch with her friends from SoCal: "Lauren Conrad and I talk. If anybody knows what I’m going through right now it’s her.”

... guys in New York City vs. guys in L.A.: “I was recently in L.A., and I couldn’t help but think, ‘Oh my gosh, everyone is kind of the exact same here.’ You have all these guys in the entertainment industry who are just trying to be smooth and super-cool. The guys [in New York] are [still] trying to be cool - guys do that everywhere - but they’re more confident and they know what they want.”

... handling celeb gossip media and critics: “I’ve never really noticed anyone giving me a hard time. Maybe they are and I’m just naïve. But I figure that if I just stay true to myself and I am the Whitney that I’ve always been, people will look at me not as Whitney from the show, but as a human being.”

The Hills was heartwarming, annoying, funny and nearly Audrina-free last night. Our recap will consist of awarding and deducting points as we see fit.

When Lauren Conrad learns her parents are moving out of Laguna Beach, she returns home to pack up her old room. Spencer Pratt tries to get sister Stephanie to ditch boyfriend Cameron, and Whitney Port takes a step closer to The City.

Playing the role of strong, protective big brother, we came dangerously close to giving props to Spencer Pratt. But he would be snide, sarcastic and passive-aggressive to Stephanie even if Cameron weren't being a d!ck, so Minus 1.

Spencer to Stephanie: "Do you know how immature and stupid this relationship sounds from an outside perspective?" Plus 18, because it, like, totally does, but this is equally true of Speidi to the entire celebrity gossip reading world.

Within the first few minutes, LC name-drops the episode title, "Dream boy, dream job!" Minus 2 for lameness and the strong possibility that she was coached to.

At the Diane Van Furstenberg offices in NYC, Elizabeth, Alixe and Whitney Port herself are all wearing tight clothing and high heels at work. This is actually consistent with both the industry and city. Welcome to New York! Plus 3.

At least from what we could tell, Stephanie surprised Heidi and Spencer by bringing Cameron to dinner. Spencer went off on him immediately. Minus 4, because surely Stephanie would have seen that coming. It's Spencer Pratt, people!

How much did you love Lauren Conrad while she was back home in her old room! That scene with LC and Lo reflecting was, like, so real. *sniff* Plus 7!

But Minus 2 because while it would've been beyond ridiculous if Jason Wahler walked in at that moment, we were kinda hoping it would happen.

Okay, this has been bothering us for months: the hosts of the Hills After Show are such losers. Do we have to see them during commercials too? Who the eff dresses that girl? And you know that dude's glasses aren't even prescription. Minus 9.

Of course, Whitney would use a lot of Valley Girl-speak in her interview and of course, no one would bat an eye. If you're Heidi Montag at Bolthouse, this would be annoying as hell. But if you're Whitney Port, it's the name of the fashion game! Plus 3.

Whitney's Australian love interest, Jay Lyon, appears for, like, three seconds to hug her a lot before she leaves for L.A. Minus only 2, because while that was a total sham, we're so psyched to see Jay and Whitney on The City, you don't even understand!

The Hills Whitney Port has a new crew – boyfriend Jay Lyon, to her immediate right, and some other peeps - and she's happy to show them off off at a photo shoot for her upcoming MTV show The City on Wednesday in New York's Meatpacking District.

The City stars Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo attended the Us Weekly Hot in Hollywood 2008 bash recently, where Whitney was honored as Breakout of the Year!

"She's absolutely lovely, I adore her," Olivia Palermo, a prominent N.Y.C. socialite, said of her co-star, whose spin-off of The Hills is set to debut in early 2009.

Yesterday, we posted a trailer for The City. It looks like The Hills, only on the east coast. Which is all good as far as we're concerned. Why not share the love?

We missed her on last night's gripping episode of The Hills.

But we know Whitney Port has moved on to more concrete pastures.

Get it? Because starring on her own show will be more substantive, and because New York City is the concrete jungle, people! Hello? [crickets]

Anyway, below is the first official trailer for her new spin-off, The City.
