Stephanie Hogan Speaks on The Bachelor Ouster

For a time, it looked as though Stephanie Hogan was destined to take Jason Mesnick on a "hometown date" as one of the final four women on The Bachelor.

But the 34-year-old single mom from Huntsville, Ala., was surprisingly sent home on Monday's episode, exiting in a classy, mature (and thus unfamiliar) fashion.

In a conference call with celebrity news media, Stephanie talked about her connection - or lack thereof - with Jason and her impressions of The Bachelor.

Throughout her time on the show, and especially after that date to Legoland in which her daughter Sophia made a surprise appearance, Stephanie Hogan spoke of the very special connection she and Jason Mesnick were developing.

However, after this past episode's Rose Ceremony, Stephanie Hogan conceded that she never saw that spark in his eyes whenever he looked at her.

In her interview, she explained this apparent contradiction, saying that their connection was more a strong friendship than anything romantic.

He didn't fill her with overwhelming passion when he walked into the room, Stephanie said, and she didn't think she did that for him either.

The Bachelor Analysis: Molly, Melissa on Collision Course

Though The Bachelor was sleepless/clueless/shameless in Seattle on Monday's night's episode, trying to trim his bevy of beauties from five to four, Molly Malaney easily advanced once again, earning a "hometown date" in Grand Rapids, Mich.

"She's very caring and compassionate and fun to be around," said one of her oldest friends, Ryan Lacks, in the Grand Rapids Press. "She lives for the moment."

One tense moment for Malaney, an Indiana University grad, came when Jason Mesnick chose Melissa Rycroft for a one-on-one date on Monday's The Bachelor.

It looked like Melissa, not Molly, would get to meet his three-year-old son, Ty. She didn't - but did earn some quality alone time at Mesnick's Seattle home.

Molly Malaney, Jason Mesnick

Malaney needn't have worried too much, though. Jason Mesnick told a radio listening audience in Seattle that Molly was the best kisser of the remaining field.

For next week's hometown date, which was pre-taped months ago, Molly Malaney will be taking Jason to dine with her family at Egypt Valley Country Club, play golf, then go to spend time at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids.

And forget her impressing him - Jason should be prepared to win over close-knit clan: "My family," she said on the show Monday night, "is everything to me."

Are Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft on a collision course for the finals? Or will Naomi or Jillian pull an upset? Tell us who you think will win The Bachelor:

The Bachelor Babe's Take on Episode Five

Because our standard weekly recaps are clearly not enough to quench your thirst for The Bachelor gossip, commentary and insight, The Hollywood Gossip's own Bachelor Babe will be sharing her thoughts on each exciting episode with us as well.

Here's her take on Jason Mesnick and his five (now four) remaining ladies after Monday's trip to his native Seattle, where burning questions left J sleepless ...

BB

On this episode of Jason Plus Five... Wait wait wait wait wait - First scene of Jason is on a houseboat?!!?!?!?

That CANNOT be where he lives - it has to be made up, right?

The producers are just trying to recreate Sleepless in Seattle – I totally see right through that plot device. Well, I have news for you producers, it won’t work because we all know Jason doesn’t like blondes. The only girl that comes even close to the cuteness of Meg Ryan is Molly with her adorable little giggle. Okay, I’m totally right! Nine minutes later the announcer says “Burning questions leave Jason sleepless” - leave it to the rest of us to add “in Seattle.”

Anyway, after 30 minutes of recap and random shots of Jason and the girls, the episode actually starts. Melissa Rycroft gets the first one-on-one date, with a hand delivered letter from Jason who tells her not to open it 'til he leaves. When he leaves (approximately three seconds later) Melissa opens the note which says, “Let’s hit the town in style, J.”

Which part of that couldn’t be read in front of him??

Turns out the date is canceled so Jason can spend the evening with Ty (awwww), so Melissa goes to Jason’s house and proceeds to… clean up Jason and Ty’s leftovers. Nice, Jason. Remind us again what you’re looking for in a spouse?? Like any neglected housewife, Melissa pours herself a glass of wine and sits on the couch waiting for her man to show her some attention.

Melissa Rycroft and Jason Mesnick

Will Melissa Rycroft embrace playing housewife with The Bachelor?

Next, Stephanie, Jillian and Molly get the group date and head to a harbor cruise, where Jason promises to show them “The Best of Seattle” (isn’t that a coffee slogan?).

He chooses this moment to bring up Sleepless in Seattle again, when they motor past the houseboat where Tom Hanks lived in the movie. Jason pulls Stephanie aside for alone time, but you don’t really see any spark between them.

The Bachelor Recap: Shameless in Seattle

The Hollywood Gossip's recap of The Bachelor is a rundown of our favorite (and least favorite) moments, with points awarded or deducted as we see fit. Last night, the five women stopped at nothing to impress J-Mes in his native Seattle. Let's get to it ...

Jillian's way with words amazes: "As soon as I saw Jason, I literally catapulted out of the limo." NOTE: Catapult not shown. Plus 5.

Jason: "Today's gonna be an awesome day. I'm gonna show the girls the best of Seattle." - Jason. Not included Last season's NFL or MLB standings. Minus 2.

Molly Malaney, through the glass, during the radio broadcast: "I'm trying to read his lips. He's saying: 'Molly, I love you.'" If he's not, Mols, we sure are! Plus 7.

Speaking of Molly ... there's family beer pong waiting in Michigan?! We gotta start rooting against this girl so someone on our staff can gobble her up. Plus 17.

Why does Jillian try so hard and appear nervous at all times? Her answer to the bedroom question: "I like fun!!! And then... it ends with you wanting to spend the rest of your life with that person." Way to cover all bases. Minus 8.

Come on, Ty. Get your $h!t together. Whining while Jason Mesnick has his shirt off??? Millions of women would kill to be in your position. Minus 12.

Jason Mesnick Shirtless Photo

Jason Mesnick shirtless should not induce whining. Even if you're three.

Must the girls always say the phrase "hometown date" and talk about bringing Jason to their "hometowns" every five seconds? Does anyone really refer to where they live that way? Might want to mix up your scripted lines a bit, ABC. Minus 3.

Plus 15 for Melissa Rycroft casually mentioning that it's hard to bring someone to meet her family ... then in next week's preview, revealing that her parents don't approve at all! The plot thickens. Will this lie-via-omission derail our favorite?

Since Naomi's parents haven't stayed together, Jason worries she may not be the most stable partner. 1. The Bachelor stars are 0-for-12 lifetime. 2. Jason is divorced! Way to gloss over that for the sake of faux controversy. Minus 20.

Obligatory Plus 9 for Chris Harrison. From his mini-recap of the episode with Jason, to reminding us for the 378th time that those who survive tonight's elimination will go on "hometown dates," to his declaration of the final rose each week (ladies, the final rose... as if they forgot), this guy has the best job on TV.

Jason tells Stephanie she's "the greatest person he's ever met." Aside from, you know, the four younger, hotter girls he's keeping around. Minus 7.

TOTAL: +1. A quick list of who's in and out on The Bachelor...

Roses received at ceremony: Molly, Naomi, Melissa, Jillian.

Given the boot by tearful Jason Mesnick: Stephanie.

The Bachelor Preview: Will DeAnna Pappas Return?

Does Jason Mesnick shun favorite Melissa Rycroft? Or does he send Naomi packing? Is Molly Malaney the cutest thing ever? Will DeAnna Pappas return again?

All these questions and more will be answered on tonight’s much-anticipated episode of The Bachelor as the reality show's 13th (and best) season continues.

The surprises have been manifold. Last week, Jason Mesnick shocked the world when he declined to hand out the final rose during the dramatic rose ceremony.

Megan, Lauren and Shannon were all sent home broken-hearted, even though the show's rules permitted Jason to dole out one last rose to a lucky lady.

This epic season is quickly drawing to a close, with a number of questions unanswered. For one, DeAnna Pappas' much-touted appearance has fallen off the radar so far. DeAnna hasn’t appeared since the premiere. Will she be back tonight?

DeAnna Pappas, Jason Mesnick

Jason Mesnick and DeAnna Pappas on The Bachelorette season finale.

Elsewhere, in case you missed the previews for tonight’s episode, big things happen with both Melissa and Naomi (Molly, Stephanie and Jillian round out the field).

ABC makes it seem as if Melissa Rycroft is stood up by Jason, and that it’s Naomi crying at the end of the rose ceremony. But you know how those previews can be.

What do you think? Will Jason Mesnick send Naomi home at the end of the Seattle dates? Will Melissa get stood up so Jason can go on a date with DeAnna instead?

We'll see, but don't count Melissa out based on a stupid promo.

Their love connection is, like, so real. Follow the jump for a touching video (put together by someone with even more time on their hands than our interns have) of some of Jason Mesnick and Melissa Rycroft's best moments so far ...

Crazy Megan Parris Dishes on Jason Mesnick, The Bachelor

After an unexpected twist in which Jason Mesnick withheld the final rose and sent four aspiring brides packing (when he was only obligated to axe three), Megan Parris found herself booted from The Bachelor, but her memory lingers.

Not necessarily in a good way, but it lingers, alright.

The 25-year-old lacrosse coach and single mom from Sewickley, Pa., made her presence felt from the moment she arrived on The Bachelor in this 13th season.

Still stinging from her ouster, the possibly unstable Megan Parris spoke with a reality TV site about her Bachelor experiences. Some of her observations ...

On Jason Mesnick comparing her experience to his on The Bachelorette: "[Jason] said, 'Don't be afraid that you haven't gotten to know me too well yet, there's plenty of time. I was one of the guys who got to know [DeAnna Pappas] last.'"

Megan Parris

On the twist in which she was voted off by the bachelorettes, only to earn an automatic rose as a result: "Rejection is always painful, especially among people you think you are having a good time with. So I was surprised and hurt."

On casting her vote for Melissa Rycroft that night: "I did, because she's so cute and fun! She was in my limo and I thought 'Wow, this girl and I have a lot in common. I mean, I love her. I was thinking she's probably my biggest competition. So that's how I voted, and she knows that and it's nothing but a compliment."

Molly Malaney Emerges as a Favorite on The Bachelor

Next week on an all-new The Bachelor: Five women, four roses. Which ladies make the final four cut and bring Jason Mesnick home for a hometown date?

We'll have to wait and see, but we sure wouldn't bet against Molly Malaney of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Molly got awfully cozy with J-Mes on the fourth week of the show, spending a romantic night camping out in a tent with him.

While others struggled through the episode to earn a rose, Malaney came out strong at the onset, earning a one-on-one date with single dad Jason after winning an entertaining, albeit awkward, songwriting / singing competition.

She made quite an impression on said date, as well.

Jason Mesnick, Molly Malaney

To the dismay of her competitors, Molly Malaney emerged as a clear favorite after canoodling with The Bachelor all night - and returning home in his clothes.

"The more I get to know her, the more I like her," Mesnick said, adding "her eyes are stargazing amazing." She responded that he gives her "butterflies."

Don't be surprised. According to Malaney's former teachers in Michigan, it's no surprise Jason would take a liking to their one-time shining star student.

The Bachelor Recap: A Real-Life Soap Opera

The Hollywood Gossip's recap of The Bachelor is an editorialized rundown of the most memorable moments, with points awarded or deducted as we see fit. We've already heard our Bachelor babe's unique insight on last night's show. Now, the recap ...

Chris Harrison: "Two of you will go on a date with Jason, but only one will return..." First ever Bachelor cage match? Sadly no, but fun imagery. Plus 8.

Nikki's true colors shine: "Stephanie already had a one-on-one date with Jason... she already had a man, had his daughter and, sadly, he died." Loosely translated: "The universe does not want Stephanie to fall in love. Gimme rose!" Minus 15.

Plus 9 for Nikki giving viewers a half-second warning before the waterworks hit: "I literally wanna cry..." Enter: tears! We literally wanna change the ch-

The General Hospital thing was fun and all, but Minus 10 for ABC blowing a GOLDEN opportunity to plug Dancing with the Stars. There was a dancing scene!

Speaking of which ... Jason Mesnick on the GH set: "I couldn't believe it. We walked in on a scene being filmed by Bradford Anderson and Kirsten Storms." (NOTE: I heard of these people 15 seconds ago when I read the cue card). Minus 10 more.

Guys will be guys: "I need to make sure it's not just [Molly's] eyes that I'm attracted to..." Plus 27 for hornball Jason's great taste in women.

Plus 20 for the unnecessary suspense created by ABC, such as when Jason picks up the rose and tells Molly Malaney how much he'd like to get to know her, but ...... [cue dramatic music] ...... there's more he'd like to learn about her! Yay!

The Bachelor Group Date

Group dating awkwardness on a level only The Bachelor can attain.

Words you can only hear on The Bachelor: "The last time I did talk to Jason was when I was crying and when I was vomiting." - Shannon. Minus 2.

Plus 11 for the double entendre-laden exchanges involving Molly Malaney's return from her one-on-one date with Jason Mesnick. Jason: "Thanks for coming..." Fellow contestant to Molly: "Did he stay up the whole time?"

Megan on the lead-up to the rose ceremony: "This is getting harder each week. Literally, 300-400 percent harder." That makes literally no sense. Minus 200.

Not only is Melissa Rycroft hot, and in a natural way, but she has a natural way about her. She managed to be honest, nervous and emotional without being annoying! Plus 125, because a Molly-Melissa final could not be more obvious.

Odds on Shannon murdering Jason and/or the eventual winner - 3:1. Minus 4.

Plus 100 for the not-giving-out-the-final-rose twist at the ceremony. All of those girls sucked, and Jason knew it, opting for quality over quantity. Well, at least by The Bachelor standards. Guy is still dating five chicks at the frickin' same time.

Lamest exchanges of the night: 1. Following Megan's rooftop tears: "You're such a great person..." "You're such a great person!" 2. Jason to Shannon: "I know you're real...." Shannon to Jason: "I'm so real." Minus 7 per.

TOTAL +47! A quick list of who's in and out on The Bachelor...

Roses received: Molly (one-on-one date); Stephanie (two-on-one-date); Naomi (group date); Melissa and Jillian (rose ceremony).

Sacked by Jason Mesnick: Nikki (date); Megan, Lauren and Shannon (ceremony).

The Bachelor Babe Has Words For the Ladies

Because our standard weekly recaps are clearly not enough to quench your thirst for The Bachelor gossip, commentary and insight, The Hollywood Gossip's own Bachelor Babe will be sharing her thoughts on each episode with us as well.

This week, she simply offers a few (hundred, at times) words for each of the aspiring Mrs. Jason Mesnicks, and for the hunky Bachelor himself ...

BB

Nikki – Sorry you got kicked off I guess. In the future you should know that you’re never going to get a guy by being so weepy, your boyfriend of 11 years should have told you that. Try laughing instead, but don’t turn into one of those super giggly girls. No one will like you then either.

Molly – You are so cute and adorable. I wish we could be best friends and get fast food together. We’re like a shake and fries, girl. And btw, it’s not the Walk of Shame, it’s the Walk of FAME! You looked great in those red shorts.

Lauren – Quick word of advice: dominating a guy and threatening to be “pissed” if you don’t get the rose doesn’t seem to be the best plan. Maybe try singing again. If nothing else, the “real” song you wrote sounded like something The Bachelor could pick up as a theme song… Before you leave force yourself on a network exec and have them pick it up. (Okay, I didn’t come up with that - my friend Nicole did, but I think she’s right. They did it for Daughtry on American Idol…)

The Bachelor: Lauren

Crazy, insane Lauren from New Jersey gets pissed at Jason Mesnick during a faux General Hospital scene. Later, she would act similarly in real life.

Melissa – It was nice that Jason pulled you aside on the group date. And your kiss when you were talking seemed sincere and sweet. I think Jason really likes you. And I like you too. Melissa Mesnick does sound good, although Molly Mesnick has a nice ring too.

Megan – OMG! (Really Megan, you shouldn’t be saying that if you’re over the age of 12). Judging from your General Hospital performance, I wouldn’t be surprised if you have a few kissing movies in your past, if you know what I’m saying… we’ll look for those in the near future as a desperate attempt to get on TV again.

DeAnna Pappas Speaks on Absurd Wedding Show Gig

Former star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas didn’t get her fairy-tale ending after enduring two seasons on the reality TV shows.

But that hasn’t stopped her from helping other frazzled brides-to-be plan their big day as the host of Get Married, a wedding advice show that airs on Lifetime.

She's definitely got the right experience! Oh, wait.

In an interview with People, DeAnna Pappas, 27, chatted about weddings, why she and ex Jesse Csincsak broke up, and her much-anticipated visit to The Bachelor pad now inhabited by her Bachelorette runner-up, Jason Mesnick.

Q: Tell us about your new co-hosting gig on Get Married?

DeAnna Pappas: It is the bride’s guide to getting married, from finding the right dress and invitations to writing vows, picking a cake and planning the honeymoon. The show handles broad topics and refers viewers to the site GetMarried.com where they can find local vendors and even more tips. My co-host Colin Cowie and I also have blogs on the site. Me, I just talk about everyday life and my ongoing quest for love.

A DeAnna Pappas Photo

Q: Why did you want to host this show?

DeAnna Pappas: When the opportunity first came about, I was engaged, and when the president of the company contacted me in Colorado, I thought I could learn something [for my wedding] and follow my TV hosting dream. I flew back home to Atlanta and met with her. It is a very close-knit family, a comfortable setting and I really liked their goal of helping brides and grooms.
