American Idol: A Three-Man Race?

Adam Lambert is going to win American Idol.

The singer is simply too talented and too original to be denied, at least we hope that's the case.

But Lambert - who was his typical, fresh, fun, outstanding self last night during a performance of "Play That Funky Music" - will receive some competition from the two men that also stood out this week. They were:

  • Danny Gokey sang "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts and Simon said it was his best audition of the season. The crooner borders on cheesy, but give him credit for singing with passion during every rendition.
  • Kris Allen continues to build momentum. His unique arrangement of "Ain't No Sunshine" earned three words of praise from Kara: "That is artistry!"

Still, the night belonged to Lambert, as always. Don't you agree?

American Idol Power Rankings: Volume II

We're down to nine finalists on American Idol.

Anyone that watched Adam Lambert put on an incredible, acoustic rendition of "Tracks of My Tears" last week can probably guess that the top spot in our Power Rankings remains the same. As for the rest?

Let's take a look...

5. Allison Iraheta: Brought crowd to its feet with "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." Kara said Allison sounds like she's been singing for 400 years. And she's only 16. Amazing.

4. Danny Gokey: Sorry, Gokeheads, but Danny loses a couple spots this week. Simon referred his rendition of "Get Ready" as clumsy and amateurish. We couldn't really argue with that. Might he have peaked too early?

3. Kris Allen: We aren't sold on his less-than-stellar vocals or use of the guitar. But we can't argue with an adoring public. Just listen to those female screams every time Allen performs.

2. Matt Giraud: Following a soulful rendition of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," this crooner somehow ended up in the bottom three last week. We still can't get over that. Neither can Kara, we're guessing, who looked like she wanted to straddle him right then and there on the judge's table.

1. Adam Lambert: Need you ask why?

Michael Sarver Sent Home on American Idol

This week's American Idol results show lacked the drama and surprise of last Wednesday's installment, when Alexis Grace was shockingly sent home.

Instead, Michael Sarver received the lowest-number of viewer votes - and everyone in the building knew that the judges would not save the nice oil rigger, as he sang another rendition of "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" last night.

The only surprise of the evening was that Matt Giraud found himself in the bottom two, alongside Sarver.

American Idol Recap: Motown Madness!

A slew of singers wowed viewers and judges during last night's Motown-themed American Idol.

At the end of the evening, though, the overall favorite hadn't changed: Adam Lambert put on his best performance yet.

Here's a complete rundown of the top auditions:

  • Adam Lambert was almost unrecognizable singing “Track of My Tears.” He sat on a stool, hair slicked back and went acoustic for the rendition. Simon said it was the best of the night.
  • Kris Allen strapped on his guitar and put his own spin on “How Sweet It Is.” Simon encouraged more confidence, but Kara said: “You did everything right."
  • Allison Iraheta put on another far-beyond-her-years performance. She sang “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone" and earned the highest of compliments from Randy, as he referred to her “one of the dopest singers” in the competition.
  • Matt Giraud made many women's fantasies come true with "Let's Get It On." Kara looked ready to jump him on the spot.

American Idol Power Rankings: Volume I

Because Barack Obama thinks another Presidential address is more important than this week's motown-based auditions, American Idol has been bumped to tomorrow night.

But with the show down to its final 10 contestants, it seems like an ideal time to unveil our first power rankings of the season. Who's on top? And who is barely hanging on to the number-five spot? Find out now!

5. Lil Rounds: No doubt she can carry a bit note, but Randy made an astute observation last week: the talented single mother needs to work on her verses a bit.

4. Kris Allen: The ladies love him. And, following last week's audition-stealing rendition of "To Make You Feel My Love," so does Simon Cowell.

3. Matt Giraud: Let's not crown him as the next Justin Timberlake just yet. But he possesses a distinct voice and has picked up momentum with every performance.

2. Danny Gokey: Motown Week ought to be ideal for this talented crooner, as he struggled a bit last week with "Jesus Take the Wheel." But he's a major fan favorite and the judges need to nit-pick each week just to find flaws in his auditions.

1. Adam Lambert: Even those that hate this theatrical singer have to admit that he leaves an impression. Buzz builds for Lambert each week, and nothing epitomizes a favorite more than the fact that we can't wait to see what he comes up with for each performance.

Alexis Grace Surprised, Saddened By American Idol Ouster

American Idol fans weren’t the only ones shocked and disappointed by the surprise elimination of early favorite Alexis Grace Wednesday night.

“I was like, ‘Is this a bad dream? What’s going on?’” the 21-year-old Memphis native said Thursday. “It’s hard. I’m obviously disappointed.”

The news was particularly hard for the pink-haired hopeful to swallow as it means she just missed making the cut for this summer’s American Idol tour.

“I’d set a goal for myself to make tour,” says Grace. “But everybody has their times where they don’t do exactly what they want to in life, and it only gives them more encouragement to work harder. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

For a brief moment on Wednesday’s show, it seemed Grace might get a reprieve with the new “judges save” rule, but after she forgot some words to “Jolene” and cracked a couple notes, judge Simon Cowell said it “wasn’t good enough.”

Graceful Alexis

“If I’d remembered the words and been more in control of it, that might’ve helped,” Grace laments, but added. “It’s still very early in the game and I could see why they would want to save it for later. It’s better television.”

Grace says she had grown particularly close to fellow Idol Megan Joy, who’s also a young mom. The two joked that if they’d both made the tour, Grace’s daughter Ryan, 2, and Joy’s son Ryder, also 2, would become “boyfriend and girlfriend.”

Megan Joy Corkrey May Want to Reinstate Last Name

Perhaps American Idol's Megan Joy Corkrey, who advanced to the top 10 on last night's show, acted too fast in dropping her last name to become just Megan Joy.

Instead, maybe ditching Joy altogether and going by just Megan Corkrey might be best, given the wholesome image image the Utah native has tried to project.

You see, as E! reveals, there's another little blonde cutie who happens to go by Megan Joy in the entertainment industry... the adult entertainment industry.

The non-Idol Megan Joy has appeared in classic films such as Sorority Sex Kittens: Kappa Kappa Sex, Cheerleader Auditions 6 and Desperate Housewhores 7.

Makes you wonder what didn't take place in the first six installments that warranted a seventh film in that series. Or why are we analyzing the porn industry.

Megan Joy Pics

Wholesome, American Idol Megan Joy and significantly less-wholesome Megan Joy.

Amazingly, this is the second time porn and American Idol have been in the same news story this month! The first stemmed from a phone voting mishap.

Producers learned they couldn’t use 1-866-IDOLS-13 for the 13th finalist, as the number was already taken by a sex line. For what? You call and let us know.

You aren't alone, though, Megan Joy. Jayden James is also the name of a porn star, although Britney Spears' son has no plans to drop his last name Federline.

American Idol Surprise: Judges Won't Save Alexis Grace

More than 31 million votes were counted after Tuesday's country night and the results were announced on American Idol Wednesday. They were surprising.

Alexis Grace, considered by many to be an early favorite, instead landed at the bottom of the heap after her lackluster rendition of Dolly Parton's "Jolene."

Because of the newly instituted Judges' Save rule - and because the judges have always liked her so much - Alexis Grace was permitted to sing an encore.

But she didn't knock that out of the park either. Randy, Simon, Paula and Kara huddled together to discuss her fate, and decided it wasn't good enough.

Instead it was time for a farewell performance before packing her bags.

Alexis Grace Sings

The other singer with Alexis in the bottom two, as predicted, was Michael Sarver, while 16-year-old Allison Iraheta, in a bit of a surprise, was third-to-last.

Those two and the other remaining eight constants have now achieved a significant goal, as they will comprise the Idols Live touring roster this summer.

Do you think Alexis Grace deserved to go? Who's your favorite to win now that the field is down to 10? Leave a comment below and let us know.

American Idol Goes Country; Anoop Steals Show

Yes, we're serious. Last night was the genre-busting Grand Ole Opry night on American Idol, and some unexpected performers pleasantly rose to the occasion.

The biggest story? Anoop Desai, who sucked royally last week on Michael Jackson night, turned in a surprisingly sold rendition of Willie Nelson’s “Always on My Mind.”

Said Simon Cowell, “You’ve just managed to go from zero to hero.”

Similarly, Megan Joy Corkrey had a comeback triumph with “Walking After Midnight,” giving it a bluesy turn and maybe taking the heat off herself for a week.

Kris Allen also did a nice job with Garth Brooks’s “To Make You Feel My Love,” while Matt Giraud opted for Carrie Underwood’s “So Small” and came up big.

Here's how we see the field after last night:

American Idol Spoilers: Final Four Rigged?

How's this for an American Idol spoiler: a staff member has allegedly been telling people that the show’s creators have already chosen this season’s top four.

There are still 11 contestants America gets to choose from.

Fox had no comment, and even with rumors of producers stacking the deck with strategic song-shuffling, it’s hard to believe anyone can guarantee who makes it.

Nevertheless, the New York Daily News claims that the American Idol brass is sweet on only a select few of the remaining hopefuls and doing everything it can.

13 Finalists

Who's allegedly making the final four and who stands no chance, if this mole is to believed? Follow the link to reveal this potential American Idol spoiler ...
