There's a difference between constructive and effective discipline and poor and abusive discipline. In this case, it's the latter.

These parents are idiots. Instead of confronting their obviously grieving daughter about the way she felt and why she had changed, they grounded her, then humiliated her in public. And she's 13, too. They should be more surprised if she didn't change. Such lack of communication in the family--no wonder their daughter's not getting better.

"The Big Shoe" sounds interesting. Hope they do it right.
