• Aaron Kelly vs. Siobhan Magnus: Semifinalist Showdown! (3/19/2010)

  how can you compare the weakest and strongest singers on the show like this? obviously Siobhan is a potiential winner and Aaron, sweet and somewhat talented as he is, will just disappear and be forgotten. It's a matter of talent, skill, personality, memorability, and experience. One has them all, the other has a little bit of the first two in that list.

  Siobhan PITCHY??? are you DEAF? her pitch is flawless. she is one of three or four singers on this year's idol who is basically incapable of singing out of tune. I think some people don't understand what the word "pitchy" actually means, or possibly they don't have very good ears for pitch themselves and don't really understand what they dislike about a performance. but her pitch was flawless as always. one of the performers Randy said was either sharp or flat when in fact the performer was actually the opposite (like if randy said sharp the singer was actually flat) - even people at Randy's level don't always have the best ears, or at least not much real musical training. Siobhan is wonderful and I can't wait to hear what she does next. I'm really growing tired of the rest of the copycat singers and how dull and boring they are. Get the REAL musicians like Siobhan, Crystal, Didi and the guy who plays guitar well but is a somewhat forgettable singer to really duke it out on stage. Let them all do what they do best, even it's playing lead guitar. That would be a fun competition! I'll be buying Siobhan's album as soon as it comes out - the far and away most talented musician in this year's idol. Narrow minded people need not agree - but don't forget to vote for the person who's album you would buy. This is a singing competition - not a popularity contest or beauty pageant. I do feel bad for people with real gifts and real experience and hard work under their belt like Crystal and Siobhan - to be lumped together with inexperienced and somewhat talented wannbes and being compared to them by the public who really have no idea about the complexity of music... well it's just such a popularity contest on idol that I get sad watching it sometimes. Like Todrick Hall - he was an absolutely INCREDIBLE singer who was easily the best of the men. But the idiotic public votes him off because they care more about image than about true talent, musical training, hard work and potential. Sad stuff. GO SIOBHAN!!! Cheers
  

• American Idol Performance of the Week: Siobhan Magnus' "Paint it Black" (3/18/2010)

  "needs to work on those high notes"???? have you seriously listened to what she's doing??? None of the other competitors have NEARLY the versatility, range or skill as a vocalist that she has. It's INCREDIBLY tough, almost a freakish ability really, to hit notes like what's she's doing, and yet she has the upmost control over her voice in the lower range and a gorgeous tone that other singers within and outside of that competition can only dream of matching. Did you really listen to Adam Lambert doing notes like those last season? He also had the occasional quiver in his voice, and while I love him too, he did those screams more as a force of habit; she does it purely for artistic reasons and to wonderful effect. She's incredibly brilliant and if she doesn't win Idol this year it will truly show that talent, real gifts of music, incredibly hard work and pure artistic integrity aren't nearly as important to the average American citizen as is being a predictable, boring commercial but forgettable singer like last year's winner (or like some of her competition this year). She's the standout leader right now and even dreadlocks girl (I'm sorry I can't recall her name, I don't mean that as an insult as I respect her very much too as a musician) will have to up her creativity if she's going to compete with her, although certainly she's an incredible performer as well within the style she's shown to be her favorite.
