Marriage is not a right. Saying that homosexual couples need the title of 'marriage' on their relationship in order to be equal is like saying African Americans need to be called white in order to be treated equal. Civil Unions were created to meet the needs of civil rights concerns. Homosexual activists have been banging the drum-beat of 'celebrate diversity;' it smacks of hypocrisy to seek to change the historically heterosexual institution of marriage in the name of equality. One last thought: Have you noticed that every state that has instituted gay marriage has done so through the court system, and not by majority vote? Gay activist leaders are not patient. They do not want to wait for a change in the hearts and minds of the public for the change they desire. They know that they cannot immediately win through a majority vote today, so they get activist judges to create law, not interpret it. Judges that do this should be stripped of their judgeship.
