People have to understand, the county where Rihanna is from the men are play the dominated role in a relationship just like in the middle east, and other backwards counties on this planet, she has grown up with this type culture where men beat on women is part of their heritage that been going on for centuries, so to her men beating women is a way of life just like it is in a lot of other countries, women are not fortunate to have the rights like all women due in the US.
