Jenna Talackova was disqualified from Miss Universe Canada because she is transgender. Was this the proper call?
It is sad how many cruel and ignorant people have posted on here. It's wonderful that Jenna was able to have surgery and now live in the female body her brain knew she really was. Gender is not just about the Y chromosone! Good luck to Jenna in her future life as a beautiful and sweet WOMAN!
All this crap about changing genders is saying we think God makes mistakes, and he DOESN'T! He was born a man for a reason. If you're not born with a uterus,or ovaries,or the y chromosone then you are a man, Plain and simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God did not make Jenna, Her parents did. And for you to claim that God created everyone in the world is ridiculous. Especially when you can now chose what sex your child is going to be. How exactly does God have anything to do with that choice??
It's just for fun, anyway. Why take it so seriously? Let ANYONE in.
I think Halle Berry should enter a transgender competition she would beat them all. Fair is fair.
What about the women who's crowns he took? All the women who lost to this man should be given their crowns and what ever cash he got. He should have to paid back every dime he criminally took.
It's a free country. If I want, I can buy a pet chimp and 2M$ in surgery and hormone therapy and enter the chimp in a beauty contest. In a short time thereafter I would recover my investment.
If contest authorities can test athletes to determine their sex when they compete on an Olympic or collegiate level then the same holds true for these "contests". Her genetic makeup and not her cosmetics decide who Jenna really is! Surgery won't change that.Transgender means "across sexes". That is a terrible place to live.
Hello Jenna, congratulations to you, In Sri Lanka we do not have rules disqualifying talent at national level. If the organizers are having this competition to choose talent; they should also consider whether this condition will be an obstacle to a contestant at a Miss World pageant. If there is no such barrier, you are seeing crocodiles in your cup of tea. If there is such a condition; it is high time people start lobbying to have such conditions taken off. Good luck to you Jenna, from Sri Lanka.
Where is the equal opportunity? If Jenna was born with a defect it was not her fault; & later that was corrected, the doctors have done the needful. Rules are there to control anomaly not to do injustice to a candidate of a national pageant of this magnitude. Who knows whether she would turn out to be the Miss World next?
There ARE such competitions for transgenders and drag queens. Sorry, but the rules did say that you have to be a "natural BORN woman." It is not discrimination, in a sense the organizers are keeping it "fair" for other women. It would be like a natural woman trying to enter into a transgender competition.
