Jacob Lusk Brings Himself to Tears

It's very early on season 10 of American Idol, but one thing appears clear: we're in for many weeks of contrasting auditions and artists.

Take John Wayne Schulz and his restrained, collected, acoustic cover of "Landslide." Simple, straightforward, impressive.

Now, compare that to the emotion delivered by Jacob Lusk last night, as this hopeful scatted one moment and soared the next while giving viewers a rendition of "God Bless the Child." He even brought himself to hysterical tears by doing so. Might this be the John Boehner of American Idol contestants?

Britney Spears' Official "Hold It Against Me" Video: Watch & React Now!

After weeks of hype, the "Hold It Against Me" video is here.

Britney Spears' latest masterpiece was unveiled last night at 9:56 p.m. before Jersey Shore, in a stunning case of MTV actually playing a music video.

The result? About what you'd expect after all the teaser clips out there, and if you're a fan of Britney Spears, you've likely seen at least some of them.

Basically, she can still dance, she can still look hot, and she can still pay producers a truckload of money for flashy graphics and elaborate sets:

So, does Britney still have it, or is she just an average pop performer subsisting off her name and elaborate marketing machine at this point?

Tell us: What do you think of "Hold It Against Me"?

It's awesome! One of her best!
It's alright, nothing special.
It's crap. Give it up, Britney.

John Wayne Schulz Covers Landslide: Watch Now!

He's a former recording artist and a professional cowboy. He's also an early American Idol favorite.

During the final round of Hollywood auditions last night, John Wayne Schulz confidently took to the stage, guitar in hand, and dedicated his rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" to his mother, who was in the audience.

He gave it a simple, country spin, earning a brief duet with Jennifer Lopez, as that judge sung along with Schulz for a few seconds. That's always a good sign for any contestant. Watched John Wayne in action and sound off: He has to be among the top contenders at this point, right?

Stefano Langone, Jovany Barreto & Jacee Badeaux: Off to Vegas!

Hollywood treated Stefano Langone, Jovany Barreto and Jacee Badeaux very well last night.

This trio of American Idol hopefuls were featured in the same segment, each impressing the judges with versions of singles such as "You Can Feel It All Over" and "Time of My Life."

As a result, all are a part of the final 60 and all will take to the stage in Las Vegas next week. Check out snippets from each of their performances below, with a warning/apology to our female readers: Barreto keeps his shirt on...

Scotty McCreery Hopes You Dance, Forgets the Lyrics

Scotty McCreery added his own unique stylings to Lee Ann Woman's "I Hope You Dance" last night.

No, we aren't talking about this American Idol hopeful's baritone of a voice. We're referring to the made-up verses he uttered as the country singer forgot the lyrics on stage.

Wrong Lyrics

Nuts of wonder? Zoo zoo talk??? Perhaps the judges passed Scotty on to the round of 60 jut for making them laugh. Or because he wasn't alone. Ta-Tynisa Wilson messed up the same song. Watch both on action below and don't feel too badly for them: McCreery and Wilson both advanced.

Mel Gibson Case: Really Freaking Complicated!

The Sheriff's Department's investigation is over, but sources say the Mel Gibson case is not heading toward a resolution, or even a decision on charges, soon.

The L.A. County D.A. will not make a quick decision on whether to charge Mel and/or Oksana Grigorieva with a crime, at least not this week. TMZ reports.

The reason? This is a really, really complicated case!

It's unclear if either Mel or Oksana will be charged.

The L..A. County Sheriff's Dept. turned over a full report on the Oksana Grigorieva extortion investigation. There are two separate investigations in play, too.

Because of the alleged extortion, the Mel Gibson tapes, her accusation of domestic abuse and myriad custody issues, the report will take time to digest.

The D.A. has said they will make a decision on whether to file criminal charges as a package, but that the decision absolutely will not be made this week.

Whose side are you on?

Team Mel!
Team Oksana!

Brandi Glanville to LeAnn Rimes: Show Some Respect!

LeAnn Rimes took a beating on Twitter this week when her fiance’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, blasted her for wanting to sing in her son’s class at school.

Rimes famously had an affair with Eddie Cibrian, to whom she is now engaged, while he was marred to Glanville. They have two kids. Brandi hates her.

The latest beef? Rimes' involvement at her son's school ...

Brandi tweetShe then wrote: "It's Mason's week share his family with the class. it isn't ur place. Let Eddie read a script. You are not his parent. RESPECT!"

And later: "Check definition of step mom and get back to me genius!"

Glanville then appeared to refer to her as LeAnn Whines, but only in subsequent, unrelated messages. The woman clearly has some issues.

She still refers to herself Brandi Cibrian on Twitter, for example.

Miley Cyrus: Fuming Over Father's Comments!

Miley Cyrus is angry. Really angry. Peeved even.

A friend tells Pop Eater that the former Disney star simply can't believe her father opened up to GQ this manner in such a disturbing, strange manner.

"To say Miley is angry is an understatement," a pal says. "She's furious that her own flesh and blood would make a private matter so public. Who does he think he is, Michael Lohan?"

Billy RayAspiring Movie Star

Reports claim Miley and her father have not spoken since December. We can't confirm that, but this same source says Miley has labeled her dad's comments as "unforgivable," adding:

"This isn't what a father does. He never said a bad world about Hannah Montana all those years it made millions for the family, and now that Miley has turned 18 and is making her own decisions, he does this. Unforgivable."

It's hard to argue with this insider, isn't it?
