He was supposed to report to jail as of early May.

But Jason Wahler is instead in rehab, a family member tells People.

"Jason's in rehab, and he's getting help," said the relative, who declined to give her name, possibly because she does not want to be associated with the Laguna Beach loser.

"He's doing well, and he's going to be a new man," she added. "There was a deal made [with prosecutors]."

Jason Wahler, 20, was due to surrender to Los Angeles County jail last week to serve a 60-day sentence after his September arrest and subsequent assault charges, but a judge delayed that in lieu of rehab.

Whether channeling his inner Britney Spears and going to detox will help him evade legal problems stemming from four arrests in as many states is yet to be seen.

"His jail sentence has been suspended for now," L.A. City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said. "But we'll be informing the court of Jason Wahler's latest arrest in Seattle at his next progress report hearing June 8."

Wahler had been on 36 months' probation since March, and may be in more trouble if Seattle city attorneys file formal assault and trespassing charges, stemming from his arrest at a Seattle hotel April 8.

If convicted in that case, the ex-beau of Lauren Conrad could be found in violation of probation in L.A., which may result in even more jail time.

In March, Wahler was arrested in Greenville, N.C., on charges of underage drinking and resisting a public officer during a raid at a nightclub.

Earlier this year, he was also found guilty of resisting arrest and bribery stemming from an arrest in New York last September.

Perhaps Paris Hilton should try this approach. When in doubt, check one's self into rehab. Although driving with no license and being slutty aren't treatable addictions.

As for the one-time star of The Hills, look for him to get booted from rehab for kicking someone's ass and uttering racial slurs, then having more charges filed against him.

A lot happened on American Idol last night.

Lakisha Jones was voted out, of course. Ryan Seacrest announced a new reality show dedicated to finding the next great American band. And a well-known, beautiful actress made an appearance ..

Fantastic Four Meets the Final Four
Jessica Alba was the delight of the night, as she accompanied her Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer costars Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd to watch Idol's final four face the music. Just before the start of the show, Simon Cowell switched seats with Paula Abdul to get a better look at the star because, as Paula put it, "she's so hot!"

And while Seacrest was about to introduce the cast and a clip of their movie, Alba, who plays the Invisible Girl, left her seat empty and hid behind the host, tickling his back as he pretended that she had vanished.

But having the beautiful actress so close proved too much for Seacrest â€" he almost fumbled his lines completely.

Unbreakable Bond
In the final break before learning their fate, the Idols turned toward one another and formed a big group hug that couldn't be broken. Seacrest was already in place when Blake Lewis was still giving kisses on the cheek to Jones, Jordin Sparks and Melinda Doolittle. But the Idols wouldn't budge â€" even after holding the position for almost three minutes during the commercial break.

It was only when the cameras came back on that they let go of each other.

Follow the Signs
Wednesday's audience was as loud and aggressive as ever, but it was the fans of Jordin and Blake who made most of the noise. In fact, it was so loud and out of control at times that the stage manager had to police the situation and remind fans that they must keep it down. There were far more showing support for these two than Melinda Doolittle, however.

Politics Aside
Politically Incorrect host Bill Maher left the politics at home and took a front row seat to watch one of his idols, Barry Gibb, perform live. Maher, known more for controversy, let loose at American Idol, bobbing his head while mouthing each and every word in unison during Gibb's performance of "To Love Somebody."

Now we see how he won over Karrine Steffans.

Look, she isn't giving lap dances to Oliver Martinez, ok?

Angelina Jolie is a tad too busy raising numerous children to spend time flirting with ex-boyfriends.

Having already had two kids - son Maddox, now 5, adopted from Cambodia, and daughter Zahara, 2, from Ethiopia - when she became pregnant with daughter Shiloh, Jolie was asked by Reader's Digest if the pregnancy was planned.

She said it was. And she also said all this:

"Before I met [Brad Pitt], I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. He told me he hadn't given up that thought. Then, a few months after Z came home, I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved him, that a biological child would not in any way be a threat. So I said, 'I want to try.' "

On how she went from single mom of one to part of a family of six in just three years: "I met this amazing person, and we realized we had very similar views on how we wanted to live our lives. It's happened quickly, with so many children. Yesterday, picking up the kids from school, Brad turned around in the car, and there were three of them. He couldn't stop laughing."

According to a source, the rehabbing pop princess purchased:

• A $600 toy plane
• A potty chair fit for a prince
• Two "Adorable Idol" baby t-shirts emblazoned with an altered American Idol logo (get ready to get sued, Bel-Bambini)
• Two "Don't ya wish your mommy was hot like mine?" tees (as Asia Nitollano and the rest of the Pussycat Dolls roll over in their graves)
• One t-shirt Spears did not buy for the kids, but was seen in the store - "My dad is a hunk." Oh, snap. Her ex, Kevin Federline, could have seen that diss coming a mile away, though, after his recent remarks about Howie Day.

With her baby purchases complete, all Britney Spears needs to buy is a wig that frickin' stays on! Oh, and a voice. She apparently needs one of those.

Celebrity gossip sites such as, well, ours, have been touting other beautiful women for weeks now. There's the love affair we've had with Tricia Helfer nude, for starters.

There's also been a lot of talk about British beauties such as Katie Price and Lucy Pinder. But can you blame us?

These women traversed the ocean, took their clothes off and - in the case of Keeley Hazell - made sex tapes for all to enjoy. It was our moral obligation to write about them.

As for attractive Americans, granted, we may have given too much attention to Toastee Toof. But Brooke can't get mad that we've given attention to Kristine Lefebvre; the lawyer took her clothes of for Playboy in order to raise awareness about cervical cancer. That's a great cause.

Anyway, Burke finally had enough. She recently posed for Razor magazine in black lingerie just to prove one thing: David Charvet is one lucky man.

Tameka Foster is sporting some impressive company these days.

Just look at that rock on her finger! Oh, and that's fiance Usher walking alongside the stylist, too.

Despite receiving harsh rebukes from fans, Tameka doesn't look phased. Many readers of The Hollywood Gossip have compared Foster with Heather Mills, accusing her of marrying Usher just for his money (and killer abs, of course).

But why is Tameka on the receiving end of such criticism? While other famous fiancees, such as Alexis Phifer get off with nothing but congratulatory phone calls? It may have something to do with the fact that Foster is pregnant ... but not in the typical, loving way someone such as Elisabeth Hasselbeck is.

Instead, Tameka is carrying the child of her ex-husband. That's always awkward. And leads some to believe she is simply desperate for a (preferably rich) man in her life.

But who are we to judge? The Hollywood Gossip didn't accuse Katie Rees of getting involved in some serious girl-on-girl action just because she craved attention and was filled with insecurities.

So we're not gonna say a negative word about Foster and Usher now. We wish them the best.

Rapper and R&B singer Akon has issued a statement response amid a firestorm over his onstage simulated sex romp with a 15-year-old during a concert in Trinidad a few weeks ago.

He smacked that all on the floor, 'til she got sore, then wanted her to give him some more. But the collaborator of Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani regrets his actions, and says he didn't know she was underage. His statement:

"First, and most important to me, I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I've caused to the young woman who joined me on-stage, her family and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert in Port of Spain on April 12.

It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience. Somehow, that standard was not met.

Again, I apologize to those concerned and to all my fans and I pledge to all that we will strive to make sure this type of incident does not happen again."

Akon was fired by Verizon and is being threatened with prosecution over the incident, which apparently featured a simulated rape of the girl.

The rapper invited 15-year-old Danah Alleyne onto the stage, and the girl obliged, thinking that she was entering a dance contest to win a "trip to Africa," as Akon promised.

But when she "won" the contest, the "trip to Africa" turned out to be an on-stage encounter with Akon during which her "head was hitting the floor," as the rapper was "turning, twisting and even flipping [her] body" while "mimicking sexual positions" and sandwiching the girl with the assistance of another performer, according to multiple news sources.

Basically, this girl was conned onto the stage and unwillingly took the punishment that Lindsay Lohan gets from an assortment of gents nightly.

Verizon, which promoted Akon as one of the musicians on its mobile-phone music service, said it would no longer sponsor the Gwen Stefani tour in which Akon, who recently performed on American Idol, is the opening act.

This isn't the first time Akon has done some sketchy work on stage. Tara Reid got the Akon treatment during a party at the Sundance Film Festival.

Akon is also a convicted felon who has spent several years in prison.

In the wake of his Las Vegas arrest this past weekend, HBO has decided to cut ties with its Chairman and CEO, Chris Albrecht.

In a statement obtained by TMZ, parent company Time Warner Chairman and CEO Richard D. Parsons said:

"Jeff Bewkes (President and COO of Time Warner) and I believe that this is the right decision for the company. We thank Chris Albrecht for all of his contributions to Home Box Office over the years."

Albrecht, who had been with HBO for 22 years, look a leave of absence as of yesterday, saying he "agreed to step down ... recognizing that I cannot allow my personal circumstances to distract them from the business."

HBO Chief Operating Officer Bill Nelson will temporarily take over Chris Albrecht's duties until a new CEO is appointed.

Albrecht was arrested over the weekend for allegedly beating his girlfriend up outside the MGM Grand Casino after the prizefight between Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Wonder what Rich Eisen had to say about that on SportsCenter.

Yesterday, Albrecht sent a letter to the HBO staff, which stated that he was "deeply sorry" for the Vegas incident, and revealed that he is a recovering alcoholic who had slipped.

Mel Gibson knows the feeling. So does Naomi Campbell... although she would likely beat Albrecht's ass if he tried that crap with her.
