  1. Lynn Brown Says:

Strip her of her title already she is mocking our God and we have had enough. If she was offending Islam she would be dead already. The liberal community might not find any thing wrong with this but we do! It has come time for us to stand up for our God and what he inspires us to do and to be. Enough is enough.

  2. Heath E. Miller Says:

Excellent expression of art! Well done

  3. Sal Says:

    Leah,
Most Christians do know that our holidays are converted pagan holidays. Even Easter is actually from the goddess of fertility, oestre. Which is why they use pagan symbols of rabbits and eggs.

But, that's not really the point. The world celebrates these days on the dates which were determined by history. It's the heart of the celebration that matters, not the date it's celebrated.
On Christmas, I'm not thinking about the druids, or the festival of lights, but the birth of Christ. It is the day the world has set aside to celebrate that historic moment. I have no conflict with that.

Going back to your statement about "how do we know she was mocking Christianity".
Maybe she was completely ignorant of what she was doing or didn't think of how it could offend people. Maybe it was the photographer who is the real culprit here.
    It doesn't really matter.

But it is mockery, the same way that people like Madonna, Chris Angel and other ungodly people wear crosses on their necks...

They bear the cross while performing an ungodly act. She was not trying to make an edifying spiritual statement with that picture, but she was trying to get attention to her body.

The Bible teaches to dress modestly and she is not doing that in this photo. She is causing people to lust after her as you can tell by some of the comments made above. Lust is against Christ's teachings.
This is why it is mockery, among other things.

But the question I must ask is..."why pose on a cross"? Of all the other things she could have done, she posed on a cross, mocking the death of the One we call Savior.

It would be the same thing if I took a picture of myself in the same manner of which your grandfather died, just to get money or something selfish like that. If you loved your grandfather, that would be offensive to you that I would use his death for my personal gain. That is what she did.

Christ is our older brother, Savior and King. When people blatantly disrespect Him, it offends many.

All some of us are asking is for people to be more sensitive to our feelings. That's it. We're not calling for her head, we're not asking her to die a slow death of pain. We're just asking for her (and others) to not do that anymore and maybe an apology.

Is that so terrible of us to ask such things? Are we not allowed to be offended because someone was careless with our faith?

She could have posed nude on a walrus and it wouldn't make a difference to us because it's not our business. But the moment she posed on a cross, she made it our business.
We're just asking for a little understanding, respect and sensitivity.

    Thank you.

  4. Leah Says:

    Sal,

I didn't intend to be disrespectful to anyone when I posted my initial comment - and I assumed that a majority of the world understood the Pagan/Christian commonalities (or as common as they can be) - until it was so politely pointed out that I was an idiot. But I digress - I wasn't intending to be disrespectful to anyone over their faith - I beleive people have a right to be offended, but at the same time I think when people react the way some did on here it does nothing but cause division - and even in all of our differences aren't we all innately human, whether we believe in the same God or not. And if we look back through history we see where division has taken us - and it's not a good place.

Although there are many people that have commented on here and have been respectful and obviously know the true meaning of scripture and the teaching of Jesus, there are others that don't, and maybe I should have limited my comments to them.

  5. alex Says:

Maybe the reason it was photoshopped is that previously it looked a bit like this (same pic on another site)...
    http://tinyurl.com/2xpmvd

So they tried to recreate what the original photo looked like.

  6. John Says:

So is it more Christian to forgive her or is it more Christian to curse her and defend the religion? Recent history, and many of these posts, tells us exactly which approach would be taken in Islam.

    Don't stoop.

  7. Quentin Says:

I don't know what was on her mind or in her heart at the time of this photo, so I can not judge her. As a Christian, the picture is offensive. Sure, many people were crucified back then.....But, only JESUS was crucified and shed his blood to pay for the world's sins....so that we could believe in him and accept him as our savior and some day have eternal life.

  8. Brittany Says:

I see that many people posting on here are not offended. I see that many are. If you are not, then it should not matter either way to you...move along. If you are offended, then state the reason. I see that some have done that. Personally, I think this girl is a little stupid for trying a publicity stunt off the back of "anti-religion/anti-rules/anti-establishment" or whatever. It is the one of the most mindless and shallow forms of self-promotion. It is her perogative, but a foolish business decison. And YES...it is a business decision. She does not do this pose to satisfy her deeply-seeded and long-held passions over the historical tyranny suffered by masses at the hand of religious persecutors. It's a gimmick....a stupid and potentially career ending one...but a gimmick. It is clearly a reference to Christ...it is a universally accepted icon. Trust me, they have churches in France. This girl, her agent, and the photographer knew exactly they were doing. I don't think they will necesarily burn in hell for this. But she represents a nation of people...even as Miss France. She ought to use more common sense that this. If she loses her crown, I do not feel bad for her. Consider it the law of sowing and reaping at work. Remember Jesus talked about that.

  9. Sal Says:

    Leah,
I understand and agree. It is sad that some Christians on here are calling people idiots and other degrading or humiliating words. I am guilty of doing that to people sometimes, myself.

You did tend to act as if Christians were dumb in your initial comment. How we are duped and need to shut up because we don't even know about our own history.

Those comments were asking for a hostile response. Although we Christians are commanded to turn the other cheek, it is really hard to do sometimes. Like I said, I am guilty of being aggressive myself. I really try to not insult a person, but address the action they did.
It's a fine line to walk and I admittedly cross that too often.

This whole thing doesn't really "offend" me. But it does concern me. It is the attitude of the masses which are alarming, not the picture.
There will always be someone who is offending or insulting. That's not such a big deal. But when the majority becomes the offensive, then I think we have a problem as a society.

I don't know if the majority of people agree or disagree with Miss France's pics. But there are enough on this forum who "Don't see the big deal" which is disturbing to me.

But, thanks for your comments and have a Merry Christmas (however you celebrate it).

  10. Eric Says:

What is the big deal? People need to lighten up. that goes for the morons who always want to pull Bush into the discussion as well. Plus I think it is hot to see a girl sporting wood!!!!

  11. fredmandude Says:

Not at all a professional touch-up artist, however, nice body and if she wore a thinner top, that would've brought out more of her boobs...maybe.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to my Republican friends and to the rest, Happy Holidays.

  12. gaurev Says:

What's so "offensive"???? If you are a guy you have to be gay to be offended by her. Wait a minute....do you think most christian priests are (in-the-closet) homosexuals?
The fact that she is very very female and really sexy...could even qualify as a goddess.
Well we just can't have folks looking at the hot girl on the crucifix rather than Mr. J. Christ. Even though she's a lot easier on the eyes.
Good thing this wasn't a couple hundred years back or she would be burnt alive at the stake.

  13. BEN Says:

THOSE WHO MAKE THE EFFORT TO APPROACH GOD WILL SMILE AND KNOW THIS YOUNG WOMAN'S FOLLY. THOSE WHO MAKE NO EFFORT TO APPROACH GOD ARE LOST. TO EXPLAIN THE FOLLY OF THIS WOMAN TO THOSE THAT ARE LOST WOULD BE TO CAST PEARLS BEFORE SWINE. YET EVEN FOR THEM THERE IS STILL HOPE...

  14. Ed Says:

May everyone reading this be blessed!

  15. G O D Says:

To the speakers of falsehoods: Sal, Leah, George Bush, and others - You perverse EVERYTHING! You look at the simple and draw ssoooooo many of the wrong conclusions. A little acceptance goes a looonnnnnnggggggggggggggg way.

  16. Don Says:

Stunningly blase' with a hint of modern day secular disdain. Little doubt where the chaos and diminishing societal values emanate from when such fundamentally jaded statements are flaunted by media and found innocent by ignorant masses. Persecuting Christianity is but one of many twenty-first Century secular malignancies to come out of the closet. It is symptomatic of what ails much of Western civilization today, and why so much is wrong and simply not fixable with more of the same. The photo is in very poor taste and should never have been publicized.

  17. Thomas Says:

    Let's be real.

This is one of those things that people CHOOSE to be offended by.

Does it occur to anyone that she was just a model in the photograph? She is as much of a prop as the cross and the pool. I'm sure someone else, probably the photographer, came up with the concept for the photoshoot.

When people stop CHOOSING to be offended by things that aren't actual attacks upon them, the world will be a much happier and safer place.

  18. Philippe Says:

    A cross ?

When you look at the picture you see a cross and you start talking about blasphemy.

What if there is no cross ?

Look closely and you will see that the vertical beam is no beam at all, but has been added to make the whole thing look like a cross.
Follow it down, it appears behind the girl's left knee - and then miraculously disappears.

If Jesus had been nailed to such a "cross", his body would have fallen off.

Even if that "thing" is meant to be a cross, how in heaven's name can it float with the body of the girl weighing it down ?

I can hear some of you saying : Who cares about such arguments ? Cross or no cross, she has committed an unforgiveable sin.

In that case, just cross out what I've written above !!!

    Philippe

  19. Alvon Phillips Says:

I believe That it was, God Almighty Himself who said, Those who reject me, like wise will I reject. It doesn't matter if you believe it or not, You believe in AIR but you never see the AIR, but wait for the DAY when you need AIR and you cant have any. I think its past time that Society, Our so called Leaders pass laws that stop foolish people from trying to erase GOD from human institutions or make anything that reference GOD an object to be dispised, before GOD HIMSELF get pissed off and DO ANOTHER SODOM AND GOMORRAH and start playing with FIRE AGAIN. Its one thing to die but Foolish People you are massing with a Power that not only can kill the body but can also destory the very soul, but I realize, most of you have never experienced your Soul nor do you know that you have one and it is alive, Just pray GOD never touch you in anger, You will know real fast GOD IS GOD. last warning.

  20. harry armstrong Says:

this christmass she made a lot of people think of christ, who have not for quite awhile

  21. Lee Andrews Says:

Lack of respect for anything is just that.......lack of respect. And, if one doesn't respect anything, they have no respect for themselves, and, therefore, would not be good respresentatives for any initiative.

  22. GTM Says:

Why all the anger over the image. She stated that yes she did have the picture taken..so big deal... I bet everyone has had a picture taken at some point in their lives that others would find offensive. The picture was never meant to be put out there for public display. If anything go after the person who put the picture out there for the public to see. All they wanted to do was bring down her moment in the spot light. In the end the only one who can say what she did is right or wrong is God. Next thing you know people will say kids making snow angels is a sin. Let it go people.

  23. Thomas Says:

Too many in this world have turned the whole symbol of Christ on the cross in an idol...and what did God saying about idols?

They care more about a symbol than they do about people - just as they care more about "traditions" and "rituals" than they do basic human courtesy and rights.

It's a picture, folks. You're making alot of assumptions about what her intentions and judgment that may not be true...based entirely on your own self-righteous indignation.

Geez, turn the other cheek already and leave this woman alone. There are bigger fish to fry.

  24. Thomas Says:

Why don't so many of you stop quoting bible verses and just say what you really mean.

"We're Christians and we don't care what you're intentions were when you took this picture...or whether you were even responsible for it's concept...all that matters is that we don't like it and even though we could just let God judge you, we're gooing to judge, too, and now you must suffer our wrath"

Hmmm...seems to me like Jesus died for nothing because that is exactly what most of you have learned.

Jesus was a humitarian. A man who believed in respect, understanding and forgiveness.

It is sadly ironic that so many of the people who proclaim themselves to be his disciples are the ones who are unable to follow his examples.

"Let he who is has not sinned cast the first stone"

Hmm...there are an awful lot of stone throwers among you...so you must all be without sin.

    Why do I doubt that?

  25. BillinDetroit Says:

She was paid to do this. Why isn't anyone dogging the photographer or whoever paid for the whole photo shoot?

Also ... compare the shadow with the cross. What's wrong with this pic (except that the model is over-dressed)?

And what's with all the breast fetish stuff? Big boobs usually come with a big belly and butt ... but this chick ... mmmm! ... she's got the right stuff in the right places and it's all firmly attached!

I think the whole concept was tacky ... and am REALLY tired of people taking pot-shots at Christianity who haven't the cajones to take the same pot-shots at Islam. But I also think that the comments are mis-directed. I doubt if Begue ever posed like this. But if she did, she did not do it alone.
