"The top of the cross is missing in the shadow..."
The top isn't "missing." The sun is behind the girl, thus causing the shadow of the top of the cross to fall in line with the rest of the cross. You can recreate the scenario with a flashlight and pencils in a dark room to test what I have written. Had the sun been directly overhead, to one side or the other, or even shining from her feet towards her face, you would see the top of the cross.

J. Simmons hit the nail on the head...no pun intended.
People want to criticize Christians for being intolerant, but they never stop to think why something would offend them. In this day and age, social prejudism against Christianity is not only tolerated, but encouraged.
The only reason people do this is because Christians follow Christ's teachings which said to "turn the other cheek". So, we won't kill anyone over this, however, we can speak our minds and we have the right to be offended about something that is offensive.
For those who said Christ taught tolerance, you need to read the gospels. Especially the part when he overturned the tables in the synagogue when people were descecrating the house of God.
Christ taught against sin, blasphemy and did not tolerate ungodly actions (which is exactly what this photo is). However, He also forgave those who were repentant of their ungodly actions.
As for me, I find this picture done in poor taste and inconsiderate of

You people need to find better things to worry about that this picture, but then again it would seem most Americans are not happy unless they are downgrading some one form another country or such. Please live your life and leave other people alone. I live in America, but it does not mean I agree with your policies or look on life. Like your religious ideas, to each their own in my book, it is not my place to judge only gods, so why don' you let him decide right from wrong and you all stop being judge, jury and executioner. And I agree with what someone says about the shadow from the cross, it does have a missing shadow......

The real issue here is not about religion at all. It is about the title this babette competed for and now holds. Can anyone say "diplomacy"? I know some of you D...heads out there think that beauty pageants are synonymous with Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions, but they actually do try to pick someone for the position that will be a great ambassador of good will. That's what the winner is supposed to be doing all year rather than self indulging and partying (see Donald Trump for instructions). They win, and then get lots of perks and oh yeah, also that darn responsibility of being a good example to all. Best not to offend large segments of the population, whether they are overly anal or not. Unfortunately your past does matter when you seek high level public positions. Madonna is in a way different category, of course, as shocking people is actually part of her game plan.
Oh and you PhotoShop experts are obviously unaware of how the refraction in moving water effects shadows. Sh

Definitely Photo shop. Even if it was real, I see a girl proclaiming her faith, no nudity or anything! What's their problem? Morals police can always find fault! They diminish the Miss France pageant with their policy of not allowing those women to be women. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!

Why are people fighting over whether this is offensive or not? It is a symbol and has different meanings to different people. Offensiveness is in the eyes of the beholder. Teddy bears named Mohammed offend many Muslims, any pop culture use of the cross offends many Christians, the Confederate battle flag offends many African Americans. Calling Christians stupid and intolerant and unChristlike for being offended by this i is futile and silly. If it doesn't offend you, then think of a symbol that you hold dear and imagine it mocked or perverted (a flag, a photo of your mother, your wedding ring.. anything...) Christians do have the right to express anger over this and it is their right to do so. And, anyone who thinks Jesus was/is all about love and forgiveness only has half of the story. He is also about helping us to live a life where we treat others as we want to be treated and honor God. Sometimes honoring God means objecting to things we find dishonorable to Him.

Lots of people were hung on the cross 2000 years ago, so why give Jesus all the credit? Seriously though I don't see anything wrong with the photo, but I'm not a Christian.
If it offends you I say too bad. I'm offended to sometimes, but I brush it off. You need thicker skin or you'll always find something to gripe about.
