What is the big deal with the cross or not? Who to say that the cross belongs to any one religion? Get a life...
J Simmons Says:

Why are people fighting over whether this is offensive or not? It is a symbol and has different meanings to different people. Offensiveness is in the eyes of the beholder. Teddy bears named Mohammed offend many Muslims, any pop culture use of the cross offends many Christians, the Confederate battle flag offends many African Americans. Calling Christians stupid and intolerant and unChristlike for being offended by this i is futile and silly. If it doesn't offend you, then think of a symbol that you hold dear and imagine it mocked or perverted (a flag, a photo of your mother, your wedding ring.. anything...) Christians do have the right to express anger over this and it is their right to do so. And, anyone who thinks Jesus was/is all about love and forgiveness only has half of the story. He is also about helping us to live a life where we treat others as we want to be treated and honor God. Sometimes honoring God means objecting to things we find dishonorable to Him.

The real issue here is not about religion at all. It is about the title this babette competed for and now holds. Can anyone say "diplomacy"? I know some of you D...heads out there think that beauty pageants are synonymous with Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions, but they actually do try to pick someone for the position that will be a great ambassador of good will. That's what the winner is supposed to be doing all year rather than self indulging and partying (see Donald Trump for instructions). They win, and then get lots of perks and oh yeah, also that darn responsibility of being a good example to all. Best not to offend large segments of the population, whether they are overly anal or not. Unfortunately your past does matter when you seek high level public positions. Madonna is in a way different category, of course, as shocking people is actually part of her game plan.
Oh and you PhotoShop experts are obviously unaware of how the refraction in moving water effects shadows. She has indicated the pictures are not fake, but then maybe you think she PhotoShopped her face onto someone else's body because she didn't want to get wet. Do you really think some fool would go to all that trouble and forget to add the top of the cross in the shadow? Um hum, expert, huh?
And now to my fellow Christians, it might interest you to know that some of us Christians are actually offended by your flaunting of the instrument of death used to kill our Lord and Savior. Good thing it wasn't a hangman's noose, or the NAACP would be after you. Personally, I prefer to obey God and not worship symbols, idols, false gods, etc. The cross to remember is not the one they killed Jesus with but rather the one that he bore, which was our sins.

J. Simmons hit the nail on the head...no pun intended.
People want to criticize Christians for being intolerant, but they never stop to think why something would offend them. In this day and age, social prejudism against Christianity is not only tolerated, but encouraged.
The only reason people do this is because Christians follow Christ's teachings which said to "turn the other cheek". So, we won't kill anyone over this, however, we can speak our minds and we have the right to be offended about something that is offensive.
For those who said Christ taught tolerance, you need to read the gospels. Especially the part when he overturned the tables in the synagogue when people were descecrating the house of God.
Christ taught against sin, blasphemy and did not tolerate ungodly actions (which is exactly what this photo is). However, He also forgave those who were repentant of their ungodly actions.
As for me, I find this picture done in poor taste and inconsiderate of Christianity. It gives a subliminal message that mocking Christ is OK. He taught against lust which is what you're supposed to do when you see a picture of a half naked woman. So, this picture is intended to say that "Christ's teachings mean nothing".
If you don't understand that, I don't care what you call yourself...Catholic, protestant, whatever...you obviously don't have the Holy Spirit to see such an obvious message.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
That aside, I hope this kind of stuff doesn't become more common in society. But I'm going to continue to turn the other cheek if it does and only give my 2 cents like I have here.
The Bible says that every man needs to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. So other people's actions do not affect my walk with Christ. This girl's picture will not take me to hell. Nor will they remove Christ from His throne. But she had better think about where her salvation is and all those who don't see the "big deal" about this had better do the same.

"The top of the cross is missing in the shadow..."
The top isn't "missing." The sun is behind the girl, thus causing the shadow of the top of the cross to fall in line with the rest of the cross. You can recreate the scenario with a flashlight and pencils in a dark room to test what I have written. Had the sun been directly overhead, to one side or the other, or even shining from her feet towards her face, you would see the top of the cross.

Darren,
You are misquoting Christ's Words. I suggest you go back and read the entire passage.
The true teaching of that passage is to see clearly before you make a judgment. That is apparent when He said "remove the beam from your eye, then you may see clearly to remove the mote from your brother's eye" Matt 7:1-5
That is indicating that there will be a time when we must make a judgment. The above scriptures are warning to be careful and to not be a hypocrite when you do make judgments.
Judgments must be made in order to uphold standards. Christianity is about judging what is right and wrong according to scripture.
So, when people say that Christians are judgmental, they are half correct.
The truth is that God is jugmental. He explains what His judgments are in His Holy Bible. Christians only point out what those judgments are.
You might not realize it, but you made a judgment when you implied that we cannot judge her for what she has done. So, you are judging that those who judge her are wrong.
Do you realize the irony and hypocracy in that? You are actually doing exactly what Christ said not to do in the very scripture you quoted.
You are making a judgment without seeing clearly.
You made a judgment according to a standard which is your own liberal standard. The judgment you made is not according to Christ's standards which are spelled out very clearly for us in the Bible.
I pray that God opens that understanding in your heart so you may receive what He expects of us.
God bless you.
