Does anyone even know if this was even her idea? She is a model right ? They show up to a photo shoot and they say here put this on and lay on this and that's what they do. Has anyone ever seen the making of Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue those girls just do what they tell them to do. We know the water is freezing and that the wind is blowing really hard and it's like 50 degrees out here but roll around in the water and look sexy while your teeth are chattering out of your head. It's a freaking picture she didn't physically hurt anyone. If your a christian act like one and forgive her and move on with your life.

Three cheers for Miss France! If only so we can watch the superstitious religionists wring their hands. Do you really think some invisible bogeyman is offended by this? Find something real to be concerned about!

  3. Sigh

You know who else was Photoshopped? Jesus!
So much vitriol over an imaginary deity.
    Religious fanatics scare me.

  4. don

being offensive is very subjective, anyone can find anything offensive and it is the nature of being religious that there are a number of things you'd find offensive no matter which faith. As always it sounds stupid to others who do not hold the same faithes. Right now the question is what is the sane way to react to somethign that you find offensive, My 2 cents are...take it easy!!

  5. cheezecoat

I think she is a (insert derogatory name), she should be (insert violent punishment), in the name of MY God (insert spiritual figure head) the only true God.

  6. SkyPete

I'm in agreement with the commenter who mentioned that this picture is photoshopped.

The top of the cross does not cast a shadow in the pool. It should be quite prominent.

  7. don corbin

lets see if it is possible to view this as self expression instead of mockery. to me the mockery would be that of those in power that crucified. could it be she is saying i am virtuous in heart and procreation is the greatest of all gifts but because she is attractive we say its mockery and done for fame and money, she really doesn't look like a playmate. many other possibilities than jewish hierarchy.

  8. JEW

she may not be a Jew, but your "lord and savior" was a Jew indeed. in fact if it wasn't for this great Jew, there would be no "Christianity", sweety :))

  9. jackfrost

Who in their life has not felt that they are being crucified justly or unjustly? Perhaps it is art, (small 'a') but who cares? She is a small time model that made it big and ticked somebody off so now they dug this up.

There is a lot of repressed morality out there that needs to have a wakeup call and knock it off.

    Nuff Said!

Anyway, the pic is not photoshopped, just staged. The lack of a shadow is because the cross is leaning into a pool and she is partially submerged upon it. Camera lighting angles would cause the top to be blanked out in the final image. Note also that her legs are underwater while her arms are partiall submerged and her head is not. Suggests an angle for the cross into a shallow pool.

But I will leave that to the others to calculate the angle.

    Whatever

  10. Lio

Ohh dear God, I'm Catholic by now

  11. kim

ok... nobody should be posing like Christ
that is what happened to him not her...
she is not perfect in any way shape or form!
she can literally GO TO HELL!!!

  12. Sal

    Leah,
I was going to address that guy, but I think I've said all I had to say and explaining myself further would be futile.
Some people are just too thick to listen, but you did a good job.

I had a decent Christmas. I'm currently serving in Iraq and will be home in less than 2 weeks (Lord willing)
Last year, I spent Christmas and New Years in Korea. Hopefully next year, I can be with my daughter. She is 3 years old, has celebrated 4 Christmases and I've only been with her for one :o(

Those are the things that military members deal with which are the hardest. It's not the low pay, hard job or bad leadership that is unbearable. It's the constant time spent away from family.

But we make do with what we have. There's a good church here which I go to. That really helps, along with the gym and the great food...no kidding.

Take care and God bless to all!

  13. Leah

This is in response to the coward who posted above as G O D. We speakers of falsehoods "peverse everything" - the term would be "pervert everything". We look at the simple and draw conclusions - the conclusions that I have drawn from reading your post are 1) you are too much of a coward to use your real name as myself and others have. 2) You either have a monstrous ego or are in need of some serious therapy because where I work people who believe they are God are usually mentally ill. 3) Didn't you just break one of the 10 Commandments that says "thou shalt not use the Lord's name in vain"?

Please don't pretend to be God - because your not, and don't judge me without knowing anything about me or my life.

And to Sal, if he happens to come back on, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

  14. Nate

Whether you are Catholic, or any non Catholic Christian. You know, that using a cross, for anything but religious purposes is "blasphemy".

If you are Muslim, Not only would you be appaled by the meer beauty of the woman, but that she is not covered up. However happy, that The "Infedel" Cross is being "Soiled"

If you were a Jewish person, you would wonder how much money was made off the picture.

And if you don't care, or think its art, then it is the Media Pointing things out like this now, on slow news days.

its bad enough the news channels point out, rapists, murders, pedophiles, predators of other nature, and just death and violence, that I didnt want to think of before, Now I have to Worry if a semi-Hot French bimbo does a photo shoot on the Cross?
Yes its been photoshoped, you can see the pixels in the shadows... Maybe the publisher of the original photo felt a mini "crisis of faith" and made sure it was not the back show in the shadow, as that is Reserved for the Ho

  15. Maria

As a Christian, I am offended my this photo.

  16. Don

If choosing to be offended is an option, wise decision making is lost on you. If rationalizing this portrayal with Bible quotes to justify its secular depiction appeases your sense theology, a fundamental understanding of Christianity is lost on you. And if somehow sorting all this out is simply too complex and requires endless explorations into mammary glands, photoshop, or blaming the media, you are part of the problem and not part of the solution, sunshine.

  17. M Ramsey

You would think that if someone was going to go through th trouble of posing for a PHOTOSHOP enhanced picture they would have asked for bigger boobs !!! and for the poor soul who was relying on FOX news to report the truth.... well nuff said !!!

  18. Joe

Distasteful or not, is not the question.
    The question is.

What does the photo mean to you?
One must look deeper than the surface of anything to find their own answers.

  19. BillinDetroit

She was paid to do this. Why isn't anyone dogging the photographer or whoever paid for the whole photo shoot?

Also ... compare the shadow with the cross. What's wrong with this pic (except that the model is over-dressed)?

And what's with all the breast fetish stuff? Big boobs usually come with a big belly and butt ... but this chick ... mmmm! ... she's got the right stuff in the right places and it's all firmly attached!

I think the whole concept was tacky ... and am REALLY tired of people taking pot-shots at Christianity who haven't the cajones to take the same pot-shots at Islam. But I also think that the comments are mis-directed. I doubt if Begue ever posed like this. But if she did, she did not do it alone.

  20. Thomas

Why don't so many of you stop quoting bible verses and just say what you really mean.

"We're Christians and we don't care what you're intentions were when you took this picture...or whether you were even responsible for it's concept...all that matters is that we don't like it and even though we could just let God judge you, we're gooing to judge, too, and now you must suffer our wrath"

Hmmm...seems to me like Jesus died for nothing because that is exactly what most of you have learned.

Jesus was a humitarian. A man who believed in respect, understanding and forgiveness.

It is sadly ironic that so many of the people who proclaim themselves to be his disciples are the ones who are unable to follow his examples.

"Let he who is has not sinned cast the first stone"

Hmm...there are an awful lot of stone throwers among you...so you must all be without sin.

    Why do I doubt that?

  21. Thomas

Too many in this world have turned the whole symbol of Christ on the cross in an idol...and what did God saying about idols?

They care more about a symbol than they do about people - just as they care more about "traditions" and "rituals" than they do basic human courtesy and rights.

It's a picture, folks. You're making alot of assumptions about what her intentions and judgment that may not be true...based entirely on your own self-righteous indignation.

Geez, turn the other cheek already and leave this woman alone. There are bigger fish to fry.

  22. GTM

Why all the anger over the image. She stated that yes she did have the picture taken..so big deal... I bet everyone has had a picture taken at some point in their lives that others would find offensive. The picture was never meant to be put out there for public display. If anything go after the person who put the picture out there for the public to see. All they wanted to do was bring down her moment in the spot light. In the end the only one who can say what she did is right or wrong is God. Next thing you know people will say kids making snow angels is a sin. Let it go people.

  23. Lee Andrews

Lack of respect for anything is just that.......lack of respect. And, if one doesn't respect anything, they have no respect for themselves, and, therefore, would not be good respresentatives for any initiative.

  24. harry armstrong

this christmass she made a lot of people think of christ, who have not for quite awhile

  25. Alvon Phillips

I believe That it was, God Almighty Himself who said, Those who reject me, like wise will I reject. It doesn't matter if you believe it or not, You believe in AIR but you never see the AIR, but wait for the DAY when you need AIR and you cant have any. I think its past time that Society, Our so called Leaders pass laws that stop foolish people from trying to erase GOD from human institutions or make anything that reference GOD an object to be dispised, before GOD HIMSELF get pissed off and DO ANOTHER SODOM AND GOMORRAH and start playing with FIRE AGAIN. Its one thing to die but Foolish People you are massing with a Power that not only can kill the body but can also destory the very soul, but I realize, most of you have never experienced your Soul nor do you know that you have one and it is alive, Just pray GOD never touch you in anger, You will know real fast GOD IS GOD. last warning.
