To Madslw,
Before you try to tell Christians how to clean up the church, why don't you clean up the godless secular society which commits rape, drug use, burglary, murder, and other atrocities?
Since you have your "house" squeaky clean I'm sure you can give us advice on how to control people's actions.
At least we can say that the Bible speaks against such things and we teach it. And those that offend the teachings of Christ are not following what the church teaches.
What rule book does an athiestic society have beyond an individual's own moral standards? The law? Well, the law in Germany used to allow the torture and murder of Jews. So I guess as long as the law says it's OK, then it's moral.
I really am sick of people like you trying to blame the entire church for the actions of a few. Let's say that you're caucasian. It is the same thing if you are blamed by those who say you're responsible for the slave traders who abused black people.
Not fair is it?

Rationalizing this as art and holding it up against the atrocities of parishioners is the secular version of feed the Christians to the lions, because the blame simply never finds an end. This is about as much art as rap belongs in the music category, or drug dealers belong in the pharmacist heading of the yellow pages. Submitted at the time Christians traditionally celebrate the birth of the living Christ, I'm not upset, I fail to subscribe to secular beliefs that this is a meaningless gesture, and find the rationale wanting desperately to demean and discredit Christianity rather unenlightened and humorous.

I say lighten up, take the photo for what it is, an art form. I would say that if you got upset at this photo, then use that energy towards something you can control, like holding your church and your clergy responsible for their sexual misconduct of thousands of children around the world. Make that right before you delve into the photo arena. Peace

Arguing conceptual semantics with secular morons sustaining a cynical dialog aimed at reducing Christianity to gutter-level humor or grade school analysis is pathetic. The expression of the photo, regardless of the idiotic rhetoric to define it, only serves to help demean Christianity if you believe. The depiction is in extremely poor taste and no amount of secular analysis will transcend the obvious statement a bikini-clad model on a cross submitted during the Christian celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, makes. If failing to understand the depiction as unacceptable, or desiring it to remain the butt of more ignorant secular jokes or analysis, the huddled masses of morons await.

This is a retouched photo. The ahadow in the pool is of a "T" not a cross. The Cross not the "T" is the Christian symbol. Even the "T" she is apparently lying on looks dubious. When the photo was originally takebn she was probably only floating in the water with her arms raised.

Any idiot with eyes can see that this is Photoshopped, there are rectangular clone marks all over the area where the top of the cross' shadow should be in the water - but who cares, all it means is that while the photo may be real, someone touched it up and did a piss poor job of it.
As for being offensive - you can't please everyone all the time - Christians offend me when they pester me to come to their church after I've already told them I belong to a different religion - just like most other religions, they have no respect for different viewpoints...

It's photoshopped... Period!
Anyone who says it is an "unaltered image" is WRONG!
Anyone calling themselves a christian should not be offended by this photo. It's an obvious fake.
If your faith is shaken by such obvious lies, you have more to worry about than some poorly crafted image.

Anyone want to make a million dollars?
Simply do something 'cross' wise.
Easy, simple, and you don't have all those pesky 'revenge' problems that come with drawing funny/true Muslim cartoons, or all that suffering crap that Mother Teresa went through to help neglected, starving people.
Just lay on your arse and let the $ role in.
I'd rather be poor and ugly than be in this girls' place.
