I feel bad for the scrutiny Keeley is getting but she didn't get that heavy walking on the beach. She got that heavy by eating too much and not exercising enough. She is not proportioned either. She is close to being obese. Her thighs are huge and she has fat rolls on her back.
I work as a nutritionist and can tell you that people always blame their weight on everything but their own habits until they are faced with the truth about proper food choices, portion size and exercise. Sodas, snacks, alcohol are part of the problem and it adds up. If you take in more calories than you burn off you will go from what this poor woman in the photo used to look like to what she is today or worse.
I am sure she is not happy with herself when she compares the ways she is now to what she looked like when she got married.

i'd like to point out that if one goes outside the us, where people are fat out of overeating and indolence, they will see older women who are a bit heavy, not because they're fat, but because they're older. chances are, they are more fit than a lot of young thin women. they work harder, walk more, and do more physical labor in general. this woman has a shape. i don't think she's obese because her physique is still pretty well defined for her size.
i think the people who would back pierce brosnan in leaving her are the scum of the earth. she does not appear to be unhealthy, and she is engaging in physical activity, rather than just sitting around and "tanning." i'm not applauding unhealthiness, but people need to take a step back and ask themselves how much they really know about this woman instead of assuming that just because she is heavy, she's unhealthy. no, i myself am not fat, i'm just sick of all the body image issues that people have.

Yes, back in the day society may have considered fat healthy and a sign of status, but you forget that this was a time when they were bleeding people with leeches. Lyssa, here's what I don't get. No fit, thin person looks to Nicole Richie as a role model, or holds her up as an example of beauty. But heavy people frequently hold fat stars up as examples of "beauty."
Makeup can do a lot, and Queen Latifah does have a pretty face. But make no mistake about it...just as Nicole Richie's aneorexia was unhealthy so is Queen Latifah's extra weight. Heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, cancer...fat increases the risk of all these things.
I agree that there's something beautiful in all of us. But isn't that why we should honor our individual selves and be the best we can be? Shouldn't we take care of our bodies, which means not becoming aneorexic OR fat?
Some fat people like to defend being heavy as some sort of empowering, lifestyle choice until you ask them to name one good thing about being fat. They really can't because deep down they know it's not healthy. And the older one gets the more problems that weight will cause.

It might be due to the cut, Michelle. The problem I have as a smaller person is that some of the clothes in my size are too "straight." I find that to be the case with the American Eagle jeans. My particular problem is that while I'm small, I have an hourglass figure. GAP Jeans and Old Navy jeans fit my size and shape, as do NY and Co.
Per the Plus Size clothing dilemma, one of the assistant editors at the paper where I used to work was very large but always dressed impeccably. Believe it or not, she got her clothes at Target and wore a lot of cute things, and carried some really cute handbags, too.
I don't think the problem with women's clothing - regardless of size - is so much what size tehy are, but how they are cut. We are all different shapes. Yes, men like curves. But a fat belly that hangs down is not a curve, it's a pendulum. And rolls of back-fat that make it look as if you've coiled hoses under your shirt are not curves. They're just ridiculous. And pouches of dimpled fat on your thighs and buttocks so jiggly that when you walk it looks like you've stuffed a couple of fighting midgets into your pants are not curves. They're just gross.
I quite agree that men don't like women who look like ten year old boys. Men prefer toned, fit women whose bodies are naturally sculpted by moderate exercise and a healthy, sensible diet.
You would love for people to believe that men prefer a fat person like you, but you aren't offering them a curvy, feminine body, my dear. You're offering them the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man. And no one wants to hit that.
Mike

First off victoria, you don't know what I look like, or what I eat. You also assume way to much for a narrowminded person. Not everyone likes women that look like 10 year old boys. Most men like women with curves, but that seems to be a problem for you. Michelle has a many very good points. All I know is that I thank God that I'm not anything like victoria, and never will be. I hope that one day, victoria, that you will stop trying to lift yourself up out of your misery by tearing others that appear happy down.

Lets keep it simple.
She is a person just like the rest of us with worries, hopes, fears, and insecurities.
This is a picture of her at the beach enjoying herself, I doubt her intention was to have this picture plastered across America for people to pick apart. How would you faire if someone took a picture of you in a bikini and posted it up for everyone to comment on. To those who find it necessary to say negative things, I encourage you to post a picture for everyone to discuss.
She knows what her exact weight and size is and wether or not her husband loves her.
We should spend more time improving ourselves physically and mentally instead of fighting amongst ourselves about an opinion of a picture of a person whom we have never met.

Victoria you have issues, and you need to get a life! You spend way too much time responding to this blog. Go out and help, and if you feel so strongly about obesity go and do something about it. In my opinion Kelley is confident and looks happy! Let her live her life whatever that is!
I aplaud Pierce!!

Now you are just making things up. A wise man shouldn't argue with a fool. That is why I will not argue with you anymore.

I hope that one day, victoria, that you will stop trying to lift yourself up out of your misery by tearing others that appear happy down.
so sad
