  1. Helen Says:

Did anyone stop to think there may be another reason she is over weight? I know that I have gained 35 pounds in the last month and it's not from stuffing my pie hole. It's from meds I have to take if I want to live. Do I like being this big? NO! But there is nothing I can do about it and maybe she is facing the same thing. Those of you who think that we are big cause we eat too much are really [I don't wan't to say stupid] but you're stupid. I don't even eat junk food. So the next time you want to put someone down because they are big should pray to God that they never have to take meds that will make them big.

  2. Janice Says:

Wow! What possessed her to put on a bikini? Is she insane? I, also, am an overweight (not nearly this bad though)middle-aged woman, and I have enough sense to realize that everyone else does NOT want to be subjected to the horror of the sight of my fat ass in a bikini. No, I don't have body-image issues or hate myself, I just have enough self-respect to not do something so ridiculous and make myself a public laughingstock.

  3. jujuzee Says:

    Wow Victoria-
You're a bitter person. So Keely (and other overweight people) are "fatties"? What if Pierce had married a non-gorgeous woman. Would she be an "uggo" or some other epithet calling her ugly? How great that you're perfect, thus can cast your infinite wisdom upon the wretched masses that aren't you.
It's not your business if she is or isn't fat. It's not mine either. It's her business, and that of the people in her life. Weight issues are a terrible struggle whether it's obesity or anorexia, or somewhere in between. It's just sad that you (and people like you) look at her and only see pounds. You don't see that she's a wife , a mother, a celebrated champion of the environment. She stepped in and helped Pierce and his son rebuild their lives after the death of their wife/mother. You also don't know the catalyst of her weight gain. Perhaps it's not just poor eating habits. Maybe she's got a health issue that needs addressing. Maybe she's peri-menopausal and is struggling with hormonal issues, or has had a personal crisis that has affected her emotionally. Maybe it's a combination of several things including poor food choices. You can't look at an overweight person and immediately assume food choices are the whole problem. Well, I guess you personally can, an apparently do, but a rational person with more than a one-dimensional view wouldn't. And I know you'll accuse me of being a "fatty" for not immediately jumping on your bandwagon, but nothing could be farther from the truth. We can all agree that healthy choices are the best, and that carrying extra weight isn't good for you. However, maybe instead of focusing on Keely and her weight, we, and the media , should think about the war, who will be the next president, how we'll get our country back on track, to name a few things. Obesity is a major problem, but personally I'm more worried about terrorists than the size of Keely's pants. You can't force someone to lose weight- it's a personal issue that can't be legislated.
BTW- I think it's wrong that the media jumps all over Keely, Kirstie Alley, Jennifer Love Hewitt for weight issues, but we don't see swim suit pictures of John Goodman, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Val Kilmer ,to name a few who have put on the pounds. They're not splashed all over the web/tabloids decrying their girth. If you do see a picture, it's not commented on over and over by everyone.
Everyone has a right to their own opinion, Victoria, so you can certaily express whatever you want, not matter how cruelly it is said. Personally, I would respect what you say a million times more if it was said without so much venom. One has to wonder why this is such a hot button issue with you that you lash out as you do.....

  4. ladeeda Says:

I'm with Helen on this. Perhaps she's bigger b/c of a medical condition - really none of our business. Regardless of her weight/health/her own issues you have to admire someone who says "to hell with it" and does what she wants in a bikini. We should all have that confidence.

Pierce Brosnan seriously rocks and is a decent guy (from what I've read). It wouldn't suprise me if he doesn't care about her weight.

    Go ahead: Bash away!

  5. Victoria is Nuts Says:

Say what you want, and you will cause you're a loose cannon clearly, I am a size 2 (hand to the Bible), and while I think Keely looks (and is) overweight, she is still pretty and does not deserve to be smeared by the press. You might also want to note that rather than spending her time bashing people on blogs because she is lonely and pathetic, she is romping on a beach with her gorgeous, famous husband who loves her. You, while I'm sure terribly thin, are also just plain terrible...and my guess is that no one has loved on your raggedy ass for some time. Skinny doesn't = beautiful, plain and simple.

  6. Jane Says:

Victoria, I wasn't going to comment... was just going to enjoy the back and forth banter. But you are toooo much!! Crack me up. You are hilarious!!

  7. Courtney Says:

For all of you so-called expert personal trainers out there referring to this as "unhealthy and obese" go back to your textbooks. although she is heavier than what would be considered "ideal" she is FAR from OBESE.!!!!!
and whoever wrote "she can afford to get help"... sounds like YOU need help. I think being comfortable with the NATURAL aging process and having a positive self image is soooo much better than all the disgusting UNHEALTHY size 0 bulimic bitches in hollywood. Besides, No one is stopping to figure in the fact that she's ALWAYS been a curvacious woman; check the 2001 wedding pics, she's probably a D cup even at her lightest weight. I think she's beautiful. besides.. I dont hear anyone making comments on Peirce's little beer belly here LOL

  8. courtney Says:

Kudos to all those who shot comments at victoria.. do the words vain bitch mean anything to you? LOL....

  9. Sandra Says:

Victoria, I think it is time for you to get a life. You really seem like a VERY SAD, UNHAPPY BITCH!! Who do you think you are to sit back and run your mouth about people?? I may not be a size 2, and really don't care to be, but I look damn good in my size 10 jeans and proud of it. So get over yourself. Better be careful how you run your mouth about others cause Karma can be a real BITCH!!!

  10. Joanna Says:

    Wow Victoria,
What a sad, pathetic little life you must lead if you spend so much of your time writing the most horrific, mean spirited, hurtful, bitchy things about people who struggle with their weight. Your ignorance is obvious and all we can do is sit back and laugh at how utterly pathetic and ridiculous you sound. Take a look in the mirror and figure out what it is on the inside that makes you so ugly...ugly enough to say that fat people are in hell. As for this whole "obesity advocate" thing. I have never heard anyone say, "Yeah go out there and be completely overweight, it so fabulous!" Those of us with a soul and a conscience simply like to encourage those people to be happy with themselves so that they may enter the weight loss battle a little bit stronger and a little bit prouder of themselves for having done so.

  11. Phred Says:

As a longtime lover of the full-figure and a happily married man (married to a BBW), I think Keely S. Smith is HOT. She is a 10! I wish my wife had the confidence to wear a swimsuit like that. Pierce is a lucky man!

  12. joe chubb lover Says:

Pic made my butter melt . Oh lovely .

  13. erkan yag Says:

    wonderfull..............

  14. Victoria Says:

I love it when detractors prove my point by trying to roll right over those who disagree with you (pun intended).

Joanna, sure a fat person can be happy with themselves. And I suppose in the Apologists Utopia we could encourage them to accept their unhealthy lifestyle and wear their blubbery butts with pride. But why stop there? Drugs are as addictive and food. And deadly, too. But people who get addicted to crack have a great time getting high, so why should we judge them? I mean, aren't they being "true to themselves"

So what if crystal meth makes your teeth fall out and you had to screw that seedy looking guy in an alley to get your last hit of crack. You feel good now, right? Right?

Addiction is addiction folks, and whether you end up overdosing or diabetic, the ends are roughly the same. Whether your drug of choice is oreos or ecstacy, bottom line it's an unhappy and unhealthy lifestyle that costs all of us in the long run.

Fat people know this, and hate to hear it, which is why they're telling me I'm a bitch, in all caps no less!

The only people who encourage fat people to remain fat are other fat people or people with a fat fetish, like Joe Chubbs here. Sadly enough, neither are motivated by any actual concern for the fat person, but by their own agendas.

So sorry, fatties, but I'm not backing down. You can keep hating on me all you want. I understand rage goes quite well with ice cream. So bon apetit!

  15. Victoria Says:

Oh, and thanks Jane. It's amazing how wound up people can get over an opinion! I don't take it personally when fat people call me a bitch. So they shouldn't mind it if I call them piggies!

  16. Z Says:

Victoria, why do you assume everyone is fat? I disagreed with some of what you said and, true to form, you assumed I was fat, too. As an anorexic long distance runner, if anyone should be calling people fat it should be me (tongue-in-cheek response).

Seriously though, you can't assume that just because someone is critical of your opinion means they are fat. You can't know unless they they say they are. I think you like to do that to provoke angry responses--and it works.

  17. Z Says:

Sorry I wrote 'they' twice.....just ran 9 miles and haven't quite recovered yet!

  18. Gracie Says:

At first I didn't reconize who it was & then when I heard the name I couldn't believe it. But, still I actually think she looks fabulous. I think she is still a beautiful woman. When I look at a someone's face or I meet someone for the first time & that person is heavy, I don't look at the weight, I look at who the individual is on the inside. And if the person I meet, so happens to be heavy, then SO WHAT. WHO CARES! It's all about who they are on the inside. She looks fabulous.

  19. booney Says:

I think it's disgusting presuming that because someone is over weight that they must eat all day long. How uneducated!!!!
I myself struggle with obesity caused through polysytic ovarian syndrome. I eat very little, probably less than most thin people. If I could force myself to eat every 3-4 hours I'd be like a rake but I can't.
To say that Keely is even obese is way off track. Sure she has a LITTLE bit of fat there but she is far from obese. I can't see what the fuss is about....I'm sure she is aware of her body and trust me when you're carting extra kilos you know it! Oh and when you're fat you know that too!
I honestly believe it's God's job to judge not ours and I reckon when it's my turn to meet Him he's not going to send me to hell for being fat ( maybe for other things but not for being fat!)

  20. Victoria Says:

Z, you're overdoing it. The "nine mile" comment just makes me even a bit more suspicious.
But just to play along, let's pretend that you really are anorexic and not the fat person I suspect you really are.
If you're anorexic then you have food issues just like a fat person, only to the opposite extreme. So it is understandable why someone who can't control their weight and remains too thin sympathises with people who can't control their weight and remain too fat.
I've not once argued in favor of being too thin. All I've stated here is that there is no reason or justification for people to be as fat as they are in this society. When people look at like Booney look at Keely Shaye Smith and say, "She's not obese!" it's because our nation is so sloppy fat that what used to be obese is seen as normal,

And yes, Booney, there are medical conditions like POS, and if you're suffering from that I'm sorry to hear it. But if I had a dime for every fat person who blamed their paunch on "thyroid problems" or some other disorder I could buy a Curves franchise. ;-)

Let me state again that I find it highly amusing how fat people still continue to say I'm mean. Fat people are much meaner, because they're so unhappy. Now be honest, how many of you fat chicks have seen a skinny woman on the television and called her a "bitch" or hated her JUST BECAUSE she was thin. I hear fat women do this all the time, and get ugly looks from fat people in the grocery store, especially when they catch me glancing at their purchases, which are almost always junk food items.

Oh, and knock it off with the red herrings. No one here has ever said anyone is going to hell for being fat. This isn't a religious discussion, but if it were the only thing I'd say is that the body is a temple, and temples shouldn't be filled with oreos.

  21. Z Says:

Look, hun, you have a problem if you think everyone disagreeing with you is fat. I could very well say that because you don't work out 2 hours a day that you're fat, too.
I run 7-9 miles almost every day and when it's not winter I work outdoors in the backcountry (easy to be skinny given my activity level). 80% of my diet is vegetables--the other 20% lentils, fruit, some dairy. No meat. I'm 5'8 and 107 lb. I'd rather be dead than fat and have an intense fear of it. Even being very thin, still, no one is nearly as mean to a skinny as they are to fat people. No one jumps down my throat telling me how I'm hurting myself, or that I need to 'do something' about it. Take a fat person and people are all over them.
Anyway I suspect you just hate fat people and like being mean. If people want to change, they will. Being mean only hurts feelings.
I absolutely agree with you, however, that society is so used to seeing fat people they have no idea what fat or thin is. I think Keely looks quite fat, but it's her life not mine.
We're just going to keep going 'round and 'round, so I'm dropping out of this discussion.
    You win.

  22. Casablanca lily Says:

Hey, when you get to this age (mid-40's) and you've had a couple of kids later in life, which she has, all sorts of things start happening to your body and hormones, like your thyroid, insulin, and metabolism, which are hard to avoid, that is, unless you are throwing up your food on a regular basis, taking laxatives, on some sort of not so safe drug or herbs that help you with your energy levels, exercising your buns off, lives on rabbit food, is on some kind of special and expensive diet program they pay for (including having diet meals delivered to you) and/or starve yourself and/or binge, or are anorexic. Any one who wants to argue these points is quite welcome! If you think otherwise, you are in a very lucky low percentile of women this age, and/or maybe aren't being quite as honest with us and yourself as you could be! Here's to Keely.

  23. Janice Says:

lily, I agree with what you're saying. However, Keely is an example of how this society has lost sight of class and good taste. She should be in a bathing suit that is suited to her body type, not waddling around in a bikini showing her disgusting jellyrolls to the world. I wouldn't be caught dead in a bikini at my age and weight!

  24. Victoria Says:

Casablanca lily, you are full of it, obviously in more ways that one. I am the very woman you describe, my dear. I'm 42, the mother of five and had my last two children in my middle and late thirties. But because I watch my diet and stay active (I'm not a dieter or an exercise addict) I am a size 2/4. I'm not aneorixic, either. I'm just slim.

The type of crap you spew is exactly what fat women want other women to believe - that obesiety is inevitable. But it is NOT if you give a damn about yourself.

Yes, childbirth and age change your body and your metabolism but you can change it right back with a little bit of motivation.

Part of the problem is that in this country we eat about five or six times the normal portion, so "dieting" for some people means cutting back to three or four times the normal portion, which is still too much.

The key to getting out from under all that deadly blubber - and the kind of deadly mindset someone like Casablanca lily displsys - is to change the way you look at food. It's not comfort or a reward or a substitute for your loneliness. It's fuel for your body and nothing more.

Women like me are not lucky. We're smart and believe in taking care of ourselves. I know quite a few women in my age group that are absolutely stunning, and it amazes me why a woman would *choose* to spend these wonderful years as a tub of lard when she could still be turning heads. Believe me, it's a good feeling. Even better than Ben and Jerry's!

  25. Lyssa Says:

Wow the venom is really shooting back and forth here. I personally am a 29 yr old mother of 2 and a training pro wrestler. Its pounded into our heads what we should and shouldn't do to keep our weight in fit form. I struggled a little more than one of my fellow trainees to lose some pounds because of simple genetics. My family has a hard time losing weight so it took extra effort and some serious will power on my part. It also took longer for me than it did her. But it was possible. Now I'm 5'7 and a healthy 130 with my curves still intact. Its possible to get healthy after kids but for some people it does take longer genes can be evil. So maybe Keely is trying to get back in shape and its just taking longer than some other people. No one knows the real story of the reason for her weight except for her. Maybe she just got sick of being told what to look like? We don't know. To all of you that are in struggles with weight; head up. Anything is conquerable! And to those that are just happy with you? Good for you!
