His son is well loved and well provided for - there were no charges filed and he is a well adjusted awesome kid! I think the mere fact that he stepped up to the plate and TOOK RESPONSIBILTY for his child is pretty amazing.

People that break the law and take responsibility for their actions still have to pay consequences. For instance, if someone kills another person but confesses to it, they still have to go to jail.
Maybe, this news will prevent him from becoming an American Idol, and that would be just, in my opinion.
Just because you take responsbility for doing something bad does not make you a hero. A true hero is someone who knows better than to do it in the first place.

I laughed when Simon compared him to a cruise ship or lounge performer. I've been on two cruises, and both of them had better singers than him.

Uhm, ronron, millions of americans are not committing statutory rape. That is a crime in this country.
If an adult takes advantage of a minor (even if it is consensual), then it is technically a crime. Thats because minors are not legally bound to making these types of decisions and it is there to protect them from predators.

Well I am sure you aren't perfect either, nor am I. I am not saying he didn't do wrong because he did. But people move on and so should we. I just hate seeing these sort of comments made about a friend.. and I am sure if he was your friend you would hate it too.

Jason's a great guy.
Indeed he got a teenager pregnant but that was then. People should know that the girl who is his son's mom is in good terms with Jason. I know this because I am a relative of the Yeager family.

Yea, I contacted the site and asked them to remove this discussion because it started out as gossip which is fine, but it turned nasty, and its not benefitting anyone.
So why don't you guys use the Contact Us button and ask them to remove the discussions about Jason Yeager's pictures and hopefully they will do that.
From now on we can stick to gossip like "oh he sang bad" or "wow that was great last night"

I'm retracting everything I said. I obviously was exageratting because I've heard things, but obviously it was all just gossip!! I didn't realize he & the mom were on good terms. Not that it matters cuz everything is heresay anyway. Oh well, cheers guys and lets keep it non-personal. :)

I don't know if the statutory rape stuff is true or not, but if it IS true then Jason had to know that it was going to come out if he made it to the top 24. He really should have considered how its public airing would affect his son and declined to audition in the first place.
Honestly, if he's any kind of decent parent what the kid's heard all his life is "I loved you mother very much, but we were too young and couldn't make it work." Now he's going to have to try to reconcile what he's always known with "Your father's a rapist." It's just irresponsible of Jason to have exposed the kid to that in the first place.
If the facts of the situation are as stated. If not, well, then it's simply gossip and Jason's not responsible for any of it.

Applauded for stepping up to the plate? You don't get kudos and medals for what you are supposed to do. Personal responsibility is a trait all adults should possess.

This young man accepts responsibility for his past actions and is supposed to be judged on his musical talent, not his personal life.
In spite of statutory laws, I feel reluctant to apply the victim label to a young lady who does not characterize herself as such.
