David Archuleta is seen here with his dad, Jeff. The latter has come under fire for being a typical "stage father," one that bullies and pressures his talented child.
Hi David I think your really cool and a great singer .
My friend thinks that your very, very hot!

To Jeff:
Keep doing the right thing by your son! You are a good father!
If you ever get to Sparks, Nevada you will meet quite a few Archuleta's that look just like you!

Jeff,
Respectfully Jeff, just let your kid live his dream and maybe go and find one of your own for yourself. You might damage what could be one of the most confidence-building and fulfilling experiences of your son's young life. Faith is hard to have with kids, but it has far more power than criticism and derision in the long run.

24 years ago or so, a young Jeff Archuleta boarded at my house in California for two summers while on break from BYU. Selling insulation, I believe. I remember him to be a master trumpeter and led a quartet with the same sort of passion that he employs with his son. David is a lucky son to have a father that involved who gets the music. Sorry about Idol, David.

Hey Mike Steffen...
I've been trying to figure out if this Jeff Archuleta is the same one who was my visiting (home?) teacher back in the late 80s. I live in Fullerton. Is that where you are from, too? Mystery almost solved!
If they are the same, I remember Jeff being a VERY persistent guy trying to get this poor, lost, inactive soul back to church.
