My, my...Detroit really elected a LOSER. It's time the voters woke up and really elect someone who cares about the city's future. I grew up in the 70's and 80's in Detroit and saw the decline because the leadership (black and white) failed to diversify the economy. I live in a suburb of Detroit and I must say that the Mayor has done a fine job of improving Detroit. We have come a long way since he came into office. Heck he has done more than the darn Governor. However, this does not justify Lying under oath when you are a public official, or having police officials fired, or using tax payers money for your own luxery. (This list could go on.) This is a sad time for our city because he could have been a great Mayor had he had better moral values.
We also have to think of the hard times with our ecenomy and he didn't think twice to acknowledge this when he was galavanting around on "our" dime.
Also, he has two boys so now we have 2 more Kilpatricks to look forward to in the future. UUURGH! Lets just hope Carlita (his wife) will teach them the morals they need that their father is NOT showing them.

It follows from simple logic that if a decision is made based partly on a totally irrelevant factor (race), other totally relevant factors (achievement, intelligence, character) will lose influence. The mayor is flawed and human - we all are. The mayor had an affair - too many humans do. These failings were elevated to the level of crime when he fired police officers who were members of his security detail. These firings seem linked to an effort to cover the affair. The human failing became a larger issue when the mayor made it one. Forgiveness is possible, but it must follow from humility, and the mayor seems to lack it right now.
For those who see this as linked to the mayor's race, I would only submit that his failing is one that happens all too often. Politicians of every race and every nationality have affairs and, in so doing, misuse their elected office. In order to maintain their job, they lie to cover it up - the lie becomes a crime. No amount of formal education - no matter how pretentious and lofty it appears on paper - is any indication whatsoever of a person's intelligence. The mayor was not smart enough to not use company issued equipment to do his dirt. I do not agree with many of his actions but I think alot of the people comments are from pure jealously of a young man being voted into this position. I feel it's said that such an intelligent man made bad choices. Because regardless of his actions, check his educational background for those who has so much too say. Hahaha, I think Imari's statements sum it all up. What humans are and what we pretend to be are two very different creatures. He knew when he began pursuit of public office that it is hard to say no to a willing woman, then again, perhaps the admiration of loose, immoral women was one of the motivations for his running for office in the first place. Not everyone has the public's best interest at heart. In fact, I'm in a room full of college students, and I'm pretty sure that they are all looking out for number one. Probably won't be any loose women in prison though.

He chose to lie under oath knowing the consequences for perjury. He lied to his wife knowing the consequences of cheating. He made the choices that put him in the position he is in today....he chose the behavior, he chose the consequences. It's not that he cheated on his wife, it's that he lied about it in spite of what it cost him or others. He is selfish and deceitful. Voters in Detroit are as dumb as D.C. voters.When will this country wake up? Race is the biggest factor in Politics today. Find a representative with some integrity and will not spend your tax dollars like this "new aged' black man.Have some person responibility as well. You create and perpetuate your own problems. Don't blame whites on this.Blame the person in the mirror for once. I'm casting a stone because I have never cheated on my wife of 10 years and never spent tax payer dollars like a personal pleaser fund. Send him packing.
