In an announcement by TLC Tuesday morning, the network says that as of November 2, reality show “Jon and Kate Plus 8” will be renamed “Kate Plus 8.”

Jon Gosselin is being dropped from the show, which will begin to focus on Kate’s role as a single mom.

“Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family,” TLC president Eileen O’Neill said in a statement. “The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers.”

After the announcement of an impending divorce on the premiere of season five, which drew a record 9.8 million viewers, the show halted production for six weeks.

After the hiatus, ratings have continued to drop, with only 1.7 million viewers tuning in for the show last Monday.
