A spanking is not the same as "beating". I was spanked as a child and I turned out fine, heck better than fine I turned out great! I have three children 30, 28, and 10 they all have been spanked and they have more respect for adults than most of the kids today. Parents need to toughen up and practice discipline today with their kids. The kids today are just plain damn BRATS!!! I never allowed my children to act out like a brat anywhere. They learned that No meant No and no argueing about it. They were rewarded for their good behavior by doing something they really liked. No I did not use food or toys or gifts just plain gratitude and respect back to them. My children are polite and respectful and I am proud of my parenting skills. By the way, these people that are so eager to judge Kate's parenting skills, do they have any children? How about EIGHT children? These pompous asses that are so eager to judge others behaviors really need to take their own inventory and by the way, judgement is done by God and no one else!!!!

I'm with you on this. A spank on the butt never hurt any kid.. I drive a schoolbus and I can tell you a lot more kids need a good swat on the ass! Good for Kate

Am I the only person angry that US Weekly has chosen to publish the picture on their cover, and now all over the 'net, with a little girl whose underwear is showing? How mortifying, and just plain wrong.

The person who called the cops on kate i'm sure is the same person who took these pics,they wanted to get a even better shot.The photographer should be ashamed.Jon and Kate really should stop the show.

Oh come on, she isn't killing the kid! And besides isn't that HER OWN HOME, at least it appears that way to me! If Parental discipline is applied in a correct manner (not abusing the child)then there is absolutely no harm in what Kate has done! Where is Jon by the way...out with his girlfriend...oh sorry I mean friend!!!

Personally, i dont think there's anything wrong with her giving Leah a spanking (unless she didn't need it)what kate does with her children is Kate's business the bible says 'spare the rod spoil the child'so everyone needs to just leave kate alone, get a life, and mind their on business

Kate is being crucified by hordes of envious, cruel people who resent her for taking full advantage of the opportunity to provide her family with financial security. Let's face it people, she had a husband who couldn't hold a job and mounting bills. As she has said, they survived because of the kindness of others and she has never forgotten it and continually strives to give back. Jon, on the other hand needs to grow up and get some morals. He is resentful of Kate's drive and success and traded his marriage in for drunken partying with his just as slimy, air-headed girlfriend (sorry, any man or woman who would knowingly enter into a relationship with a married, parent of 8 young children is pond scum in my book). Leave Kate alone. She has always done what she has to do in spite of the loser she married.

The show seems to be a fake. Kate and Jon never spank their kids on the show. Now we see what really goes on. Spanking isn't a bad thing, but for us to see that the kids do get spank is very shocking to see especially when the show only showed Kate and Jon giving them time outs.

GOOD FOR KATE!!!! my mom use to spank me and i turned out great, half the reason there are school shootings and and all these sick teenagers out there is because they didn't get spanked their parents must have been to afraid to spank them. SPANK AWAY I SAY (but only if they deserve it!!!!!)....

Kids need discipline. Parents are the first ones to teach there kids and if they are respected then they wont respect others.

My parents clearly told me what I could do and could not do. If I didn't obey the reasonable rules, I would get spanked. I knew it and accepted it as the way it was. I got spanked a lot 'cause I wasn't the best behaved, but I never felt like I didn't deserve it.
Our daughter received the same treatment, although she didn't need spanking as much as me. When she hit her teens and saw unruly kids, she would say, "Why don't her parents spank her. What a brat!"
I have always respected my parents and never talked back to them. I always felt loved. My daughter is very respectful and loving.
Yes, there are many cases of abusive parents, but to hear of someone spanking their child and then get all upset is really jumping the gun, as that may be the most loving and best way for that child to be brought up.
Spanking and child abuse are two different things altogether.
