That earth-shattering sound felt in Tokyo this week wasn't the re-emergence of Godzilla in the region.

Instead, it was the chaos created by Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, as the couple touched down in Japan for that country's premiere of High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

As you can see, Efron himself led the cheers:

High School Musical 3: Senior Year opens on February 7 in Japan. It will be released on DVD in the United States on February 17.

The life of the gorgeous and talented knows no rest.

Months after High School Musical 3 premiered in America, stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens touched down in Tokyo to promote the film.

Upon landing, the couple known as "Zanessa" was greeted by a throng of supporters.

"I've never seen anything like it," said a onlooker. "Their fans were screaming and some were crying because they were so happy to see them."

How did Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens celebrate being named among our staff's top Celebrities of the Year? By attending the Los Angeles Lakers/New York Knicks game last night.

Behind Kobe Bryant's 28 points, the Lakers hung on for a 116-114 victory. They still lost to the Celtics in last year's NBA Finals, though.

While previous installments of this Disney franchise scored solid ratings, High School Musical 3: Senior Year was released on big screens across the country, breaking records and making names in Hollywood for all its stars.

Efron has received the biggest career boost from the film.

Previously compared with temporary teen icons such as Brody Jenner, Zac is now being discussed in the same breath as A-list actors such a Leonardo DiCaprio. In 2009, he'll star alongside Matthew Pretty and Leslie Mann in 17 Again.

Hudgens, meanwhile, gets to have sex with Efron. She also has overcome the biggest nude scandal of 2007 in order to resurrect her burgeoning resume. Like her delicious boyfriend, Vanessa has broken free from the teen mold: she'll be included among Maxim's Sexiest Stars of 2009.

As for Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and others associated with this franchise, they may very be included in our Celebrity of the Year profiles for years to come. Go Wildcats!

Zac Efron should retire from life right now. It simply won't get any better.

The shaggy-haired actor is the face of a billion-dollar movie franchise, is dating adorable co-star Vanessa Hudgens and is in the process of expanding his big screen resume to include more mature fare.

Oh, and the best looking woman on the face of the planet has a crush on him.

“Zac Efron is my obsession, we’re the same person,” Megan Fox recently said. “We’re not actually here, it’s like Janet and Michael Jackson. He just puts on his wig and a dress, and it’s me, and you don’t know that. It’s one of the greatest mysteries of all time."

We have no idea what Fox is talking about. But when you look like that, you can pretty much say anything you want.
