The road to Wrestlemania hit a very welcome speed bump last night.

Daniel Bryan and 100 supporters took over Monday Night Raw, surrounding the ring and filling the arena and demanding a match with Triple H at the company's biggest event of the year.

And not only did Bryan get it, he also got another wish fulfilled:

If he defeats Triple H at Wrestlemania, he will earn a spot in the main event against Batista and Randy Orton in a three-way bout for the title that sounds a whole lot more interesting than the suckfest that was sure to ensue of officials had kept to their original one-on-one plan.

Monday Night Raw fans got punked in Chicago last night.

CM Punked, to be precise, as most in attendance hoped to see this hometown hero (who walked out on the company after January's Royal Rumble) make an appearance at the event.

This hope was only increased after Raw kicked off with Punk's music and Punk's face on the Jumbotron... only for Paul Heyman to garner some major heel heat by coming out instead.

CM Punk Tease

He and Brock Lesnar taunted The Undertaker, while Lesnar also destroyed an interrupting Mark Henry.

The Dead Man did not show up, either, resulting in yet another letdown for those in The Windy City.

WWE legend Jake "The Snake" Roberts has been diagnosed with cancer.

The veteran grappler, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, tells TMZ that a tumor has development behind his knee and he will undergo surgery tomorrow moving to have it removed.

But Roberts is confident in a full recovery and plans a return to Jersey Championship Wrestling on March 14.

Says Roberts, who spent many years battling substance abuse:

"If the devil can't defeat me, cancer doesn't stand a chance in hell! Pray for sick children who face this horrible disease 'cause The Snake will be just fine."

Professional wrestling may be fake, but Matt Hardy got himself involved a very real fight a few weeks ago.

With his wife.

The former WWE tag team champion - who was arrested in August 2011 for drunk driving and again a month later for drug possession - allegedly got into it with Reby Sky on January 1 inside a Hampton Inn in Emporia, Virginia.

According to the 911 call (below), an employee called the authorities around 5:45 a.m. because a guest told her "somebody's beating the hell out of his wife... or something."

In their mug shots, both Hardy and Sky were bloodied and wounded, with the latter suffering a swollen lip and a black eye.

Mae Young, a WWE legend who continued to be involved in professional wrestling well into her 70s, passed away yesterday at her home in South Carolina.

She was 90 years old.

The legend's death was erroneously reported by multiple outlets (including THG) last week after she was hospitalized on December 31 and then moved to hospice care.

But WWE officials have now confirmed Young's passing, though an exact cause of death was not given for the woman who broke into the business in the 1940s and became the only individual to compete in eight different decades.

We send our condolences to Young's family and we encourage readers to watch this WWE-sponsored video in her honor:

UPDATE: May Young is still alive!

The Charleston Post & Courier has updated its original story to say the legend is "gravely ill." We apologize for the premature reporting.

Mae Young, one of the most famous women in wrestling history, was taken off life support last night and passed away this morning at her home in Columbia, South Carolina.

She was 90 years old.

His job may be to beat up opponents inside the ring, but John Cena has nothing but love for Darren Young outside of it.

In light of this WWE Superstar becoming the first active wrestler to come out as gay, the face of that company was asked by TMZ for his reaction to the news.

WWE action may be scripted, but no one saw this announcement coming:

TMZ caught up with wrestler Darren Young last night and asked him whether or not a gay grappler could find success within the company. His response?

"Absolutely. Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy.

Young, Darren

As far as we know, Young is the first active wrestler in any major organization to come out as a homosexual.

His announcement comes months after Jason Collins made news for also coming out as a current NBA player and a couple weeks after Raven-Symone met some online criticism after revealing herself to be a lesbian.

Way to go, Darren!

Maria Menounos is ready to lace 'em up once again inside the WWE squared circle.

The Extra host was challenged on Twitter to team up with Natalya and compete on the SummerSlam pre-show this Sunday against the Bella Twins, an event that will take place outside Staples Center prior to the company's major pay-per-view that evening.

Maria Menounos in Blue

Menounos has made numerous appearances with WWE, debuting as a competitor in 2009 when she teamed with Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim to defeat Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes and Alicia Fox.

She also joined forces with Kelly for Wrestlemania XXVII last year.

Menounos competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2012 as well, but there's no truth to the rumor that her finishing move will be a paso doble.
