There's no question that Twitter has enhanced the entertainment value of sports, reality TV, award shows and much more. But this takes it to a new level.

The annual college football battle between Mississippi State and Mississippi will feature the first Twitter end zone hashtag in the history of college football.

MSU has painted #HAILSTATE (the school’s traditional rallying cry and fight song, in hashtag form) in its north end zone. Visitors beware. Fear the Twitter!

Mississippi State Hashtag

College teams typically decorate end zones with school name, mascot nickname or color scheme, so Mississippi State’s Twitter-based variation has its critics.

It also has its proponents.

“It’s a phenomenal idea,” said Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who likely wishes he thought of it. “It’s a fun way to involve social media at the game, and to TV viewers it’s guaranteed to stir up some emotions between both teams.”

We just hope someone on either team scores a touchdown, whips out a smartphone and Tweets about it. That would be the most worthwhile 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty since T.O.'s infamous Sharpie autograph session.

Too Short is totes alive, despite what Twitter is telling you.

The social networking site, which has a way of killing off people erroneously here and there, made the vertically-challenged rapper its latest death hoax victim.

Moreover, the rest of Internet has been on fire with false reports that the rapper died from a heart attack today. His Wiki page was even altered with the lie.

Too Short Mugshot

But T.S. just tried to regain control, Tweeting, "Stop calling my phone. I'm not dead. Repeat, I'm not dead. Been in the lab working on my 19th album."

TMZ also talked to Too Short. Today.

That would pretty much clear up the fact that he's not dead ... unless the celebrity news site is taking the hoax to a new level. Now that would be crazy.

Tiger Woods is totally alive, despite reports on Twitter that he is dead.

In other news, he is uncharacteristically playing decent golf this week!

The greatest golfer of our age, Tiger Woods, hasn't been killed, no matter what a bunch of idiots Tweeting as much claim. But his golf came has been DOA for awhile.

He hasn't won a tournament in over two years (the two-year anniversary of the car crash is coming up) and his fitness, mentally and physically, has been way off.

You wouldn't know it this week in Sydney, Australia, where Woods is tearing up one of the country's best courses, leading by one stroke at the halfway point.

Woods says he's "playing properly" again. The distractions of the sex scandal that ended his marriage, injuries and splits with his caddy and coach are history.

"It's one of those things, just being patient," the 14-time major winner said. "I derive a lot of my confidence from practice. I'm getting ample practice time."

"That's something I've not done in the last couple of years."

Good for him. Even before the wreck ended his marriage to Elin Nordegren, he veered off a bit. Think he can pull it together and climb back up to the top?

It has come to this for Ashton Kutcher:

The moronic actor - who got in trouble last night for lamenting the firing of Joe Paterno without knowledge that the coach was fired due to his role in a child rape cover-up - has actually hired a team to edit his own thoughts.

Ashton Kutcher as Walden Schmidt

Help! I can't control my own thoughts!

Kutcher will no longer make his Tweets live without others reading them over first.

"Up until today I have posted virtually everyone of my tweets on my own, but clearly the platform has become to big to be managed by a single individual," blogged Kutcher, who has eight million followers. "While I will continue to express myself through @Aplusk I'm going to turn the management of the feed over to my team at Katalyst Media to ensure the quality of it's content."

Ashton also once again apologized for his ignorant Tweet regarding Paterno. What a narcissistic idiot.

Turns out, there is something stupider one can do than cheat on Demi Moore...

Ashton Kutcher responded to the news of Joe Paterno's firing last night with the following Tweet: How do you fire Joe Pa?. There were just two problems:

  1. The actor had no idea that the Penn State football coach was dismissed by the Board of Trustees because he played a role in covering up a former co-worker's child molestation scandal.
  2. Kutcher runs a charity that aims to eliminate child sex slavery. Oops!

Kutcher promptly removed the Tweet and apologized, writing: "As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won't happen again."

So Ashton Kutcher has quit Twitter?!? At least something positive has come out of this mess at Penn State.

SHOULD JOE PATERNO HAVE BEEN FIRED?

Miley Cyrus wants her fans to know something: it's not you. It's me.

The superstar is taking another break from Twitter, though she isn't going to the extreme lengths she went to in 2009 and axing her account. So, what's going on? Why the relative silence since sending out the Halloween photo below?

"Sorry I havent been tweeting as much!" Cyrus wrote on Friday. "I deleted the twitter ap off of my phone. Just taking some "ME" time! =] love yall."

Miley has suffered through a love/hate relationship with the social network over the years, once telling followers she would no longer be using it because boyfriend Liam Hemsworth made the request. But then she returned, explaining:

"I'm not gonna lie. I came back to twitter for 2 reasons. My fans and to follow @charliesheen #winning."

The latest move actually seems symbolic of Miley's new maturity, though. It's a healthy sign when someone realizes that not every thought and emotion is meant to be shared with the world. Yes, Kim Kardashian, even if this means you make a few million less each year.

Comedian Louis C.K. is never at a loss for words, and that includes regarding Twitter ... on which he only has an account so he can tell people how to give him money.

That's a direct quote from his recent sit-down on Conan, and it wasn't his last - the Louie star basically said that people squandering their lives thanks to social media.

Between Tweeting and taking photos of events just to bomb them out using social media outlets, are we directly missing real-world experiences? Louis C.K. says yes.

What would it take for humanity to put its phones down? The end of the world? The second coming of the Messiah. As Conan put it, "Jesus is trending right now!"

Halloween was less than happy for Rihanna (and her Swedish fans) as she was forced cancel a concert because of the flu. We hope she recovers quickly and fully.

"Sorry Malmo!!! #LOUDtour," Rihanna tweeted, along with a photo of herself hooked up to an IV drip in a hospital in Sweden ... in case we didn't believe her.

"I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo, Sweden."

  • Rihanna, Flu
  • Rihanna Cleave

Rihanna had to go on an IV last night. Poor thing.

"I was so excited to perform for you. It would have been a great time, so much better than being sick with the flu, ugh! I'm really disappointed I can't be there."

According to the singer's website, Live Nation is hoping to reschedule the performance with details to follow in the next few days. Cross your fingers, Malmo!

In more positive news regarding Rihanna, she's just released her "We Found Love" music video, starring short-term boyfriend Dudley O'Shaughnessy. Hot!

This has been a heck of a week for Dancing With the Stars controversy.

First, Maksim Chmerkovskiy lashed out at the judges for what he felt were unfair, personal critiques of his partner (a sentiment echoed by Chaz Bono).

Now, a fake tweet sent out by Kim Kardashian sent out to help her brother Rob on Monday night has come to light, and infuriated other contestants.

On Monday she wrote to her 10.7 million followers:

Kim Kardashian Cheating Tweet

By writing “OMG I have @JustinBieber’s phone#!!!! 800 8684302! CALL HIM! He’s taking calls for the next hour!!!” she was actually pushing votes to Rob.

Funny? Harmless? Maybe, but her own fans turned on her, calling her “lame” and accusing her of cheating, while the DWTS cast too isn't pleased either.

“It is totally unfair that Kim did that,” one cast member said. “The other celebs on the show don’t send out fake information to trick people into voting.”

It's obviously unclear how many people called that number thinking they were actually dialing Justin Bieber, or if Rob had anything at all to do with it.

Still, “some of the contestants think Rob should actually be disqualified,” an insider said. What do you think? Should Rob be eliminated for this?
