Team Edward or Team Jacob?

It's no longer a question reserved for Twihards, or pop culture followers in general. Supreme Court Justice nominee Elena Kagan was actually asked which side she's on during confirmation hearings this week.

On a Mall Tour

But forget future judges. On which end of this debate do Jersey Shore stars and country singers fall? A handful of celebrities were asked to pledge their allegiance to Edward or Jacob this week and replied with the following:

Snooki: I’m Team Edward just because he’s very sexy, but then again, I’m Team Jacob because he has potential guido status.

The Situation: I don’t think I’m on any team on that one because I like women. But on the other hand, I am fans of them both, I think they’re both great actors.

Julianne Hough: I’m in love with Edward.

Martina McBride: Well, Edward’s really cute, I think he’s very romantic, but I think probably Jacob is a healthier relationship. He seems to care. He’s not as obsessive. It’s a little more well-rounded.

Brooklyn Decker: I’m Team Bella. I’m always rooting for her. I think she’s the atypical heroine, and a lot of people relate to that.

Cheyenne Kimball: I’m totally Team Edward. I used to read the books when I was 17, and I wanted so badly to meet a vampire named Edward and fall in love.

Rachel Reinart: I’m Team Vampire Diaries. I don’t watch Twilight. I have a huge crush on both of the dudes. They’re hot.

Serena Williams: I’m obsessed with Robert Pattinson.

Interesting. But enough from these celebs. Let's hear from THG readers. Which team are YOU on?

Kristen Stewart is stuck traveling the globe with Taylor Lautner. That poor, poor girl.

Meanwhile, a bunch of her Twilight Saga castmates gathered together for an interview with Vanity Fair, in which they each dishe on various aspects of the franchise. Let's see what they had to say...

Nikki Reed in Rome

Nikki Reed (Rosalie Cullen), on the appeal of the movies: “Bella and Edward’s love is very taboo and forbidden and I think that kind of represents all youthful relationships, because that’s what all first loves feel like... It’s sort of borderline, like, insane.”

Elizabeth Reaser (Esme), on male co-stars, such as Lautner and Robert Pattinson: “Oh, it gets so old, you have no idea. It has no effect on me. They’re all gorgeous and lovely boys... You just want someone interesting and weird at a certain point. I have a massive crush on Larry David.”

Bryce Dallas Howard (Victoria): “I had seen Twilight innumerable times. After I saw it for the fourth time, one of my best guy friends, for my birthday, made me Post-it notes with Robert Pattinson’s face that said, ‘Live Dangerously,’ because I was so obsessed. My husband actually said to me, ‘Do I need to be worried about this?’”

Ashley Greene (Alice), on Eclipse: “You don’t have to be psychic to know how this movie’s going to do. Obviously, it’s going to be a hit."

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner who?

If Eclipse supporting actress Jodelle Ferland draws strong reviews in this summer's release, she may get a major movie vehicle of her own soon enough.

That's because Twilight saga author Stephenie Meyer is releasing an additional element of the vampire tale that just may bring the teen front and center.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella is a 192-pager about the newborn who's recruited for the army hunting down Bella and Edward.

So no Taylor Lautner shirtless. But still, worth a read?

An Eclipse novella hits stores in about two months.

The story began as an exercise Meyer performed to explore the darker side of the battle in the third installment of her hit series, which grew into more.

"I'd always considered The Short Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans," she said of the book, which hits shelves June 5 (25 days before Eclipse).

And, like you needed more incentive for additional Twilight material ...

A dollar from every book sold in the U.S. will go to American Red Cross International Response Funds to support disaster relief efforts in Haiti and Chile.

That's even sweeter than Edward and Bella in bed in that new clip!

She might rarely been seen with a smile on her face, but that doesn't mean Kristen Stewart hates being a celebrity as much as some think.

While promoting the movie The Yellow Handkerchief, Stewart admitted that she can get sick of the paparazzi invading her personal space, but she also understands it comes with the territory.

Shooting a Scene

"I can't say I don't want that, because people take it to the extreme and say that I hate it," Kristen told E! News. "No, no, no! That's not true."

If it's taken Stewart longer than most to adjust, it's because she never saw any of this coming. When she first signed on for Twilight, the actress says she couldn't have predicted that she and Robert Pattinson would cover every tabloid on the market.

"We didn't even know we were going to make a second one. We were just like, 'It's really cool. It's different and we've never seen a love story like this.' I thought it would just be another cool Catherine Hardwicke movie."

It was... and then some!

As for rumors that Breaking Dawn will be split into two movies?

"It looks like a 'yes,' but it's still not concrete," Stewart said. "It would be hard to cram all of it into one movie."

If the final book really is broken into a pair of films, Kristen will remain in the spotlight for that much longer. Hopefully, she's at least smiling on the inside over that possibility.

Summit Entertainment hasn't confirmed it, but the rumors are moving closer and closer to becoming an awesome reality:

Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer's book series, will be made into TWO movies.

Jacob Black Character Card

In December, we reported that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were both on board for a fifth film, one of the major hurdles that would have had to be cleared in order to extend the franchise.

Now, Nikki Finke of Deadline.com says there's no doubt that Breaking Dawn will be split into a pair of features, just like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg "is [close] to having both scripts done," another source adds, as the studio is "confident" this will be the end result.

As you ponder that exciting possibility, the great Twilight Saga news isn't over. Check out the recently-released photo from Eclipse below. Does it get any hotter than this?

Can you ever have too much of Edward and Bella? Summit Entertainment is banking on the obvious answer: no.

** UPDATE: Insiders are indicate the studio might release Breaking Dawn in 3-D. What do you think of that?

Attention, Twi-Hards:

We know Eclipse comes out on June 30. And New Moon will be released on DVD on March 20.

But this is far too long to wait for more Twilight Saga madness. That's why you should mark your calendar for March 16.

That's the date on which 350,000 copies of Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 hits stores. It's also the date on which stores get sold out of 350,000 copies of Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1.

The comic book-like tome contains drawings of Twilight characters by artist Young Kim. Said Meyer of the graphic novel:

"I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak.  But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering... I asked for missing scenes to be inserted.  For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology."

We're all familiar with that one, aren't we?

So, how does Kim envision Edward and Bella? They look a bit different from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart on page. Take a look and let us know: will you purchase this book?

Note to fans of the Twilight Saga: Robert Pattinson doesn't actually live in Forks, Washington. Neither does Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner or any member of the cast.

Still, the geniuses behind reality TV have decided to set a new show in the town simply because events from the Twilight saga unfold there.

Said producer Zig Gauthier about casting for the untitled project:

“We’re not going up there looking to cast people who have claims to the supernatural. We want people who have a true connection to the community. We want to avoid people with outlandish claims.”

Okay. So then what's the goal of this seemingly inane idea?

"To peel back another layer of the onion that is Forks and see what the real people there are like," Gauthier said.

Forks, Washington

Therefore, to sum up: Plans are underway for a reality show about random people that live in a town only known nationally because a fictional book series is based there.

Will you watch this nonsense?

Ding! Ding!

It's about to be on between Twi Hards and Diary Devotees.

A few weeks after New Moon broke box office records, and The Vampire Diaries debuted to strong ratings on The CW, at least one journalist is taking a controversial side: he says the latter franchise is superior to the former.

Why does Ari Karpel of The New York Post prefer Paul Wesley and company to Robert Pattinson and his much-hyped saga? He lists a few reasons:

1. Blood and gore: The Vampire Diaries is "a more traditional vampire horror tale than Twilight," Karpel writes, as the movie series focuses more on romance than murder. After all, he points out, the Cullens don't even have fangs.

The Salvatore brothers, conversely, flash theirs on every episode. Moreover, there's a growing body count in the fictional CW town of Mystic Falls. Gruesome deaths, not longing stares, are around every corner.

2. SEX! Simply put, characters have it on The Vampire Diaries. So far, this isn't the case in the Twilight Saga, as the newspaper accuses that franchise of pushing "falsely neutered innocence."

3. Contrasting heroines: Bella is a blank slate, Karpel says. Fans can project themselves on her, but she has no actual personality. Elena, however "sets an example for young girls as a strong-minded woman." She asks questions and appears truly horrified, as most people would, upon learning Stefan is a vampire.

The Vampire Diaries also came first, of course. While people accuse the show of ripping off the movie, it's actually based on a book series that preceded Stephenie Meyer's collection.

There you have it. Agree? Disagree? Weigh in below with your thoughts on these fang-based franchises: Which do you prefer?

Jealous much, Miley Cyrus?

Interview by a Cleveland radio station prior to a concert on Sunday night, Cyrus was asked about the Twilight Saga.

She could have simply said she's never read the books or seen a movie in the franchise. Instead, the singer chose to thumb her nose at the series:

"I've never seen [Twilight], nor will I. I don't believe in it. I don't like vampires, I don't like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching TV at night, I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts, I don't like any of it."

Jeez, Miles. You don't believe in Twilight?!? We're sorry to report: it exists.

Moreover, that wolf has a name: Taylor Lautner. And, finally, don't worry: no one asking you to have anything to do with it. It was just a question.
