Breaking Dawn Surpasses $700 Million in Box Office Haul, On Verge of Twilight Saga Crown

It may have been the worst reviewed of all chapters in The Twilight Saga, but Breaking Dawn: Part 1 has successfully sought revenge at the box office:

The film blew past $700 million in global box office haul this weekend and, with receipts not even counted yet in Japan and China, will undoubtedly soon be crowned the highest-grossing installment in the franchise.

New Moon grossed $709.8 million during its run.

This exciting news comes just a few weeks before Breaking Dawn is released on DVD (February 11!) and also coincides with talk that the franchise could extend beyond part 2, which hits theaters on November 18.

Would you want to see The Twilight Saga continue?

The Twilight Saga to Continue Past Breaking Dawn?!?

Might November 16, 2012 not mark the beginning of the end for The Twilight Saga after all?

While we're still nearly a year away from the release of Breaking Dawn Part 2, Lionsgate President Jon Feltheimer is already looking at life beyond the final installment of Stephenie Meyer's novels - and he has an idea for how to milk the franchise for all it can produce.

“It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value,” Felthemier said of the possibility that another film could be made. “It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration."

But the source material is tapped out. How could the studio back another Edward and Bella-based saga?

“Maybe go back into some of the back stories,” Feltheimer suggested. “There’s been talk of shorts and different new media, too.”

Only time, and screaming Twihard reaction, will tell. But what do you think of this plan? Do you want to see Twilight extended beyond Breaking Dawn?

Of course, the more the better!

George Takei Jokes About The Twilight Saga: It's SO Bad!

Will George Takei live long enough to prosper after making the following comments public?

In order to settle a feud between one Star Trek icon (William Shatner) and on Star Wars veteran (Carrie Fisher), this veteran actor has taken to the Internet and posted a message that he hopes will bring both sides together: let's all hate on Twilight instead!

"What's needed today now more than ever is star peace, for there is an ominous, mutual threat to all science fiction. It's called Twilight and it is really, really bad," says Takei.

The actor even gets rather specific in calling our Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and company, adding:

"Gone is any sense of heroism, camaraderie or epic battles. In its place, we have vampires that sparkle, moan and go to high school. Now, I'm not above mixing in a little sex appeal to spice up the fantasy, but sci-fi fans be warned, there are no great stories, characters or profound life lessons to be found in Twilight... In Twilight, the only message that rings through loud and clear is: 'Does my boyfriend like me?'

"Let us band together to combat this mutual threat."

Powerful words. Now you tell us: Which movie franchise is best?

Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald: Married!

The Twilight Saga has officially merged with American Idol.

Following two months of dating and four months of an engagement, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald got married in Malibu yesterday, as the actress gushed to Us Weekly:

"We couldn't be happier!. [We were] surrounded by our family and friends. We're so glad this day has come!"

Reed - who portrays Rosalie Hale and will next be seen in Breaking Dawn - first met the season 10 finalist in March at the premiere of Red Riding Hood. Just a month later, McDonald moved into Reed's Los Angeles home.

And the rest is romantic history.

Beyond Breaking Dawn: Bill Condon Teases Twilight Saga Spin-Off

We'll have plenty more from The Twilight Saga and its Comic-Con panel later today - including never-before-seen footage from Breaking Dawn Part 1 - but this scoop is too juicy to save:

Director Bill Condon just teased that Breaking Dawn might NOT be the final chapter in this franchise after all.

"It's the end of the Bella/Edward story," Condon said. "But there are so many new characters at the end of the second movie that I suspect [Stephanie Meyer] would want to revisit them some time."

THG at Comic Con

What might a new installment be titled?

"Breakfast Time," Robert Pattinson joked. "Brunch? Noon?"

Oh, that Robert.

You tell us: Should the Twilight Saga continue beyond Breaking Dawn?

Heavens, yes!
No, enough is enough!

Double Breaking Dawn: Robsten, Taylor Lautner Cover Entertainment Weekly

Fans have waited years to see Bella and Edward tie the knot, and for the wedding scene, and for the Breaking Dawn sex scene, and for ... well, everything.

Like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 2, the end of the Twilight saga - split into two parts this November and next - will be a bittersweet affair.

In Entertainment Weekly's new cover story, the three stars of the franchise reflect on its epic conclusion, which proved equally climactic for them as well.

Read the full story here and see dueling EW covers below ...

Taylor Lautner EW Cover

Coming this fall: Love, sex, death and one very strange baby.

To hear the stars tell it, Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 involved brutal, globe-trotting shoots and scenes far darker, bloodier, and more polarizing than before.

The birth of Renesmee, says Kristen Stewart who appears with Robert Pattinson on one cover, "is really effective, and I’ve heard it really hits you in the face."

If audiences haven’t matured with Twilight yet, they’re about to grow up fast.

Are you ready, fans? Somehow we have a hunch that you'll be up for it.

Bella Swan's Breaking Dawn Wedding Dress: Revealed!

Last Friday, leaked Breaking Dawn sex pics caused a major stir.

Today, another set of images from the upcoming film are making news - G-rated, less controversial news. Bella's wedding dress has been revealed!

EW scored pics from Stephenie Meyer’s new book, The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, which goes on sale April 12. Below, you can see an artist's conceptualization as Bella as a vampire and Bella as a bride ...

Bella Wedding Dress Pics!

Can you imagine K-Stew rocking that piece?

The book’s illustrator, Young Kim, has done a great job bringing Meyer’s characters to life thus far. We imagine the forthcoming, two-part film will be no different.

Eclipse Nominated for Worst Movie of the Year

Look out, Razzie Awards. You've just made yourself a number of passionate enemies.

The ceremony that hands out trophies for what it believes to be the absolute worst in cinema has nominated Eclipse for a 2011-high nine awards. All three beloved cast members - Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner - have been recognized in their respective, insulting categories.

At least these stars can be happy they aren't Jessica Alba. In just one year, she garnered four nominations for Worst Supporting Actress.

Jacob vs. Edward Pic

In past years, A-listers such as Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock have been great sports. They've actually attended the Razzies (held the night prior to the Oscars) and accepted their awards.

Does this mean we'll see Stewart on stage next month, smiling for the audience as she is voted Worst Actress? We doubt it. Check out the list of major nominees below.
