Give credit where credit is due.

After seeing last Friday's viral Twerking fail video, in which a girl was knocked over and set herself on fire, we suspected something might be amiss.

Who was the mystery girl involved? Why does the video stop so abruptly at that moment? How the heck does that possibly happen to someone in general?!

Still, it was convincing enough that we bought it ... even though it was all a prank courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel Live and a professional stuntwoman. Watch:

Kimmel began a segment Monday night as if it were a real "interview" with Caitlin Heller, the Twerking video star. But then he revealed the truth.

Jimmy and Daphne (Caitlin's not even her name) put this on YouTube and let the Internet work its magic, and did it ever. Job very well done, guys.

Kimmel says he hopes this will put an end to Twerking once and for all, though that still doesn't solve the problem of the Miley Cyrus "Wrecking Ball" video.

Here's the original, viral Twerking fail video we ran like everyone else:

The Jenny McCarthy Era is underway on The View.

Taking over for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the former centerfold debuted today as co-host of the talk show, joking that she auditioned to be "the new Batman and didn't get it," hence how she ended up opposite Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Barbara Walters.

Shortly afterward, the talk turned to Twerking, as Walters read off the Oxford Dictionary definition and McCarthy and Shepherd proceeded to show the crowd how it's done.

Well, Shepherd showed the crowd how it's done. McCarthy may need a lesson from Miley Cyrus.

But, hey, at least her Twerking fail didn't result in shattered glass and a living room fire.

This Twerking fail, in which a girl's self-filmed sexy-dance for her boyfriend takes a sudden, nearly disastrous turn, is going viral and undeniably epic.

Caitlin Heller, who posted the video, titled it "Worst Twerk Fail EVER."

She's not lying. After some suggestive but fairly ordinary moves, she decides to get all up against the wall in a handstand a la Miley Cyrus Twerking.

Only the wall was actually a door, which someone opened, knocking her down onto the coffee table, on which there were candles. You gotta see this:

Wow. Just ... wow.

"I tried making a sexy twerk video for my boyfriend and things got a bit too hot :)" Caitlin wrote in a joke at her own expense, which we feel allows us to laugh.

There are those who will claim it was staged, because frankly how would this possibly ever happen to someone, but the two girls' reactions sure look real.

What do you think? Real or elaborately staged? Funny or scary? Sexy or gross? Share your comments on all things Caitlin Heller Twerking below!

UPDATE: It was all an elaborate prank by Jimmy Kimmel, he revealed on his show September 9. Caitlin is really Daphne ... a professional stuntwoman!

Too bad ... but well played, JK!

Nearly all parties have been heard from in regard to Miley Cyrus' Video Music Awards routine.

The singer thinks she made history. Miley's manager has labeled the routine an epic win. Dr. Laura believes Cyrus is a dirty whore and some have leveled accusations of racism against the 20-year old.

But what about Liam Hemsworth? How did he react to his fiancee Twerking all up on Robin Thicke?

“The VMAs is the straw that will break him,” a source tells Life & Style. “He wants out of the relationship.”

Twerking has once again come under fire.

A couple days after Harry Styles slammed the dance moves as inappropriate for young women, Demi Lovato has also come out against the booty-gyrating sensation.

Demi Lovato for The X Factor

“Can the world stop talking about twerking please?” The X Factor judge Tweeted today, clearly taking a shot at Miley Cyrus... right?

Wrong, Demi insists.

No wonder Harry Styles was so hesitant to Twerk at the Teen Choice Awards.

The singer is not exactly a fan of this trendy dance move.

In an interview with Moviefone to promote his band's new film, Styles labeled Twerking as "inappropriate, especially for the age groups it's aimed at" and added:

"I think it's, you know, promoting promiscuity."

Consider those indirect shots fired at Miley Cyrus, who, of course, has mastered the Twerk and continues to use it to prove just how edgy and mature she's become.

In a possible sign of shark jumping, actor and singer Robert Davi tried to teach Gretchen Carlson how to Twerk this morning on Fox & Friends.

This was the result (skip ahead to 1:30) ...

The segment pretty much speaks for itself honestly, but let's just say we feel confident guessing that Gretchen Carlson hasn't seen Miley Cyrus Twerking.

That's how it's done, Gretch. Take heed.

Also, Twerking is officially over.

Twerking. Even that sounds important when Morgan Freeman talks about it, as he proved in an interview on HLN's Morning Express with Robin Meade.

After prodding from the anchor, the acting legend read aloud the definition of Twerking - celebrating its addition to the Oxford Dictionary - for the uninitiated.

Never before has the dance craze carried such gravitas:

Thanks in large part to Miley Cyrus Twerking, the word is everywhere these days, though there has been some debate over what it actually entails.

Fortunately, Morgan Freeman as here to clear that up.

Twerk, verb: "To dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner, usually involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance."

This Twerking thing may be getting out of control.

The Oxford Dictionary has added the word as a verb and Miley Cyrus brought the dance move to a whole new level at the MTV Video Music Awards, causing some to refer to her as racist.

And now? Well... Lil Twist has teamed with his BFF Justin Bieber and Miley on a track titled "Twerk." Seriously. For real. This thing exists.

Dare to listen to the song here:

What's next?! Will Lil Twist change his name to Lil Twerk?!

Oh no. We're gonna regret making that joke, aren't we?

Twerking has enjoyed a pretty strong week. At least in terms of notoriety.

First, Miley Cyrus Twerking all over the MTV Video Music Awards stage Sunday night inspired up to 300,000 Tweets per minute by some estimates.

Now the Oxford dictionaries have listed as an official word: Twerk, verb.

Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus

The well-respected dictionary does a quarterly update of "current English," adding terms that its editors say have been absorbed by popular culture.

Twerking made the cut, along with fauxhawk (i.e. the David Beckham haircut), phablet (phone and tablet combined) and selfie (see any Jenelle Evans photo).

As for the definition of Twerking?
