The Hollywood Gossip TV Watch: Reaper

The Hollywood Gossip staff loves our TV.

And we also love informing readers of shows we think they should be watching.

You're welcome, by the way, to all those that took our advice last week and are now hooked on Gossip Girl, the guiltiest pleasure this side of watching 21-year-old valley girls go to clubs on The Hills.

Up next in our television watch? Another show on The CW: Reaper.

Reaper

This hour-long comedy premieres tonight at 9 p.m. It centers around a boy whose parents sold his soul to the Devil at birth. Oddly enough, however, Spencer Pratt isn't the star.

Instead, Bret Harrison plays Sam Oliver - and he's joined by a few friends, as the group sets off on its mission of returning lost, evil souls to Hell. Longtime actor Ray Wise portrays Satan and, well, you're gonna have to trust us. It's funny, funny stuff.

As humorous as the fact that Britney Spears nude instances from the past may have cost her millions in Playboy money? Close to it, at least.

The Hollywood Gossip TV Watch: Gossip Girl

We've been hearing about Gossip Girl for months.

The latest brainchild of Josh Schwartz, this show on The CW is meant to combine the same humor, drama and beautiful young actors as his previous effort, The OC, delivered. Before it started to suck, that is.

So, was Gossip Girl reminiscent of the (wonderful) first season of The OC... or the (mind-numbingly painful) third season of that Schwartz creation?

Gossip Girl

For starters, the series is far darker than the one starring Mischa Barton, Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson. There's no Seth Cohen-like character on the Upper Eastside of Mahattan, where Gossip Girl is set.

But the actors do fit their roles nicely, with the most believable and most well done being Dan and Jenny Humphrey, a pair in the mold of Ryan Atwood: they aren't as rich as the rest of the spoiled, young crowd, but they attend the same school for educational purposes.

There's certainly potential here for those that love primetime soap operas. Handsome, pretty faces. Cat fights. Non-stop text messaging and, of course, loads of sex. How can you go wrong?

The Hollywood Gossip Fall TV Preview

Sometimes, you need a break from Britney Spears attempting to sing and Vanessa Hudgens attempting to be a porn star.

With that in mind, The Hollywood Gossip staff has compiled a list of shows you should watch this fall. Get your TiVo and DVR ready and enjoy...

Pushing Daisies: It's a simple concept, really. The owner of a pie shop can raise people from the dead, but he cannot touch these individuals again or else they stop breathing. There's also a private detective, an adorable Golden Retriever and a lady with one eye. It seriously does look cool.

Pushing Daisies Cast

Chuck: From the creator of The OC. A regular nerd doesn't know he has valuable information implanted inside his head. He's as clueless about this fact as Jessica Simpson is about... everything.

Private Practice: Some folks hated the pilot, but ABC has tweaked the cast a bit and we have faith in Shonda Rimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy. Plus, Kate Walsh and Taye Diggs are easy on the eyes.

Cavemen: Based on the stars of recent Geico ads. We're just curious if 15 seconds of humor can turn into a lasting sitcom.

Bionic Woman: It was a TV show that was made into a movie and is now being made back into a TV show. Looks like tons of fun, starring Michelle Ryan and Katee Sackhoff.

Friday Night Lights: The best acted show on television. The most realistic characters and story lines on television. Cute boys, pretty girls and football. Something for absolutely everyone.

Rules of Engagement: Just kidding.

Heroes: Last year, they saved the cheerleader... and the world? We'll have to tune in to season two in order to find out.
