The actor has confirmed this departure in an interview with London's The Telegraph, which ran the day after a Downton Abbey Christmas special aired in Great Britain - during which his character of Matthew Crawley is killed in a car accident.

In an exciting bit of TV and movie news, the nominations for the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, airing January 27 on TNT, were unveiled this morning.

Oscar bait Lincoln and Silver Linings Playboook, starring Bradley Cooper and Most Desirable Woman of 2012 Jennifer Lawrence, led the way in the movie space.

Both films earned four nods; Les Miserables earned three.

Modern Family, Downton Abbey and Homeland were the most celebrated TV shows, along with other critical favorites. Who else was nominated and snubbed?

Boy Meets World alums Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel officially signed on to star in Disney Channel's eagerly anticipated Girl Meets World this week.

But Strong, who played Cory's "bad boy" BFF Shawn, commented on the Girl Meets World reboot on his website, revealing, "At this point, I have no involvement."

Girl Meets World has cast Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, officially making the Boy Meets World spinoff super exciting for fans of the original ABC comedy.

Charlie Sheen may no longer be a member of the Two and a Half Men cast, but controversy continues to trail this sitcom.

The latest surrounds star Angus T. Jones, who represents the fraction in the show's title.

In a wide-ranging, religious-based interview that has founds it way online, the actor slams the program's content and tells fans NOT to tune in for it on Thursday nights.

“If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching Two and a Half Men... I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth...

"People say it’s just entertainment. Do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make when it comes to television, especially with what you watch.”

Has the axe come down on Matt Lauer?

According to The National Enquirer, the veteran Today Show host will soon be fired from the morning program, partly due to its floundering ratings and partly due to his relationships off camera.

"Matt is finally getting what he deserves," says the insider. “His years-long feuds with former co-hosts Katie Couric, Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry have taken their toll. Everyone has turned against him and Matt is going to be is going to be ousted."

The Ann Curry firing remains a polarizing issue for Today viewers and producers, with everyone agreeing it was handled poorly and many stating Lauer was responsible for the move.
