Elaine and I recently chatted about her becoming Miami's most famous drag queen, what other show she'd love to land on, and the real deal behind her feud with Housewives co-star Marysol Patton.

THG: Tell me your story. I've read that you worked as a fashion model, that you sold high end home furnishings in Texas and that you've got a degree in American history.  How did any of that lead you to becoming a famous drag queen?

EL: I don't think it did. I think it was just a holding pattern for me until I was able to find my focus and head for it but it's always good to have an academic background to pursue anything in life.

My favorite Carrie Underwood song is "Don't Forget To Remember Me." I played that song many times as I drove from Maine to Florida for college, and again from Orlando to L.A after college. My mom didn't think I should go to L.A but instead, like Carrie's song she supported me despite worries. I sold everything I owned to finance my trip. Three months later I was forced to admit defeat. The money was gone and despite my efforts no job had materialized. Even from Maine Mom raised my spirits, and brought me home.

Now I live at home and barely make enough to pay my $1100 loan payments each month. I am unable to help with rent or groceries. My mom struggles to make ends meet and worries what will happen if I can't pay my loans. Still she pushes me to find ways to save so I can "try again". When I do - Carrie's song will be playing.  It would be nice to do something special for mom. This entry is for her. She deserves so much. She's too important in my life to ever "forget to remember."

During his season 10 run on American Idol, Casey Abrams was anything but predictable. Viewers really had no idea what they were in for each week, as this aspiring singer advanced farther and farther in the competition.

With Casey's first album as a signed artist out today, THG asked what fans can look forward to and he was pretty straightforward: More of the same!

"Expect fun," he said. "There are some singer/songwriter vibes, some upright guitar. A little bit of everything."

Abrams has remained an Idol viewer since leaving the show ("I feel like I have to be," he says. "It's like a high school reunion each year. I keep going back."), but he's also taken on a new cause: IBD spokesperson.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease affects 1.4 million people, including Casey, who was hospitalized during his time on Idol but hesitant to discuss why.

But he's since joined up with IBDIcons and released a music video that fan club members can view.

"It's more of a common disease than I realized," Abrams said. "It's smart to create awareness about it, so I figured I'd make a music video. Kids watch music videos, right?"

Time is running out for Leon Purvis.

The high school sophomore has made a YouTube video - viewed by over 143,000 people at last check - in which he invites Justin Bieber to his upcoming prom. But the event takes place on June 2 and Leon is yet to hear from the singing superstar.

He's working with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, helping to bring attention to Inflammatory Bowel Disease, the condition that almost forced him to withdraw from Idol. In the following exclusive interview, Casey speaks on his hospitalization, the tour and this important cause...

 

Tell us about your hospitalization during Idol. How close were you to dropping out?
I was extremely close, I had to miss one episode because I didn't have enough blood in my system. And after that I was in and out of the hospital for the next three weeks.
