The Voice Season 4 kicked off with an awesome performance by Shakira, Usher, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, and didn't lose any momentum from there.

After the coaches came together on "Come Together," they stayed together, bantering and competing for the talented singers who gave it their all.

Most notably ...

Kris Thomas, a pastor's son who signed a record deal and lost it after college, recounted a story of nearly driving his car into a house while intoxicated.

He then wowed the coaches with his take on Whitney Houston's "Saving All My Love for You," sounding every bit like the late superstar herself.

Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton came together to perform "Come Together" on an emotional season premiere of The Voice Monday night.

The quartet kicked off the show with a group performance of the Beatles song, with Levine on drums, Adam on harmonica and Blake and Usher on guitars.

It was pretty awesome. Check it out if you missed it ...

While Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will be missed, if there were any doubt that Shakira and Usher couldn't hold their own, you can forget about it.

Spurred on by Levine and Shelton - a venerable comedic duo by any measure - the new coaches turned on the charm and also let the competitive juices flow.

How do you think they did? Vote in our survey below:

The Voice is back for a fourth season on NBC!

While the format remains the same, the people in the swiveling spaceship chairs do not. Christina and Cee Lo are out this spring. Usher and Shakira in.

Was that a good thing on night one of the blind auditions? Did you like the pregnant, hormonal Colombian and the serious, but competitive R&B star?

Christina Aguilera is taking this season off from The Voice, but she still made quite an appearance last night at an event for the hit NBC show.

The singer and her noticeably thinner figure turned heads at the Season 4 premiere screening at the TCL Chinese Theater in L.A. Take a look below:

  • Christina Aguilera Thin
  • Christina Aguilera Curvy

In a little black-and-white dress that showed off the weight she's lost - not to mention legs accentuated by Louboutin heels - Xtina looked fabulously toned.

Aguilera, whose over-the-top style, curvy figure and dramatic makeup provided frequent comment fodder on The Voice, also toned down the makeup a bit.

In addition to crowning Cassadee Pope The Voice winner, NBC aired its first promo for the upcoming Season 4 last night, with Usher and Shakira co-starring in the funny ad.

Stepping in for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, the two new coaches hitch a ride to the set alongside Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and one giant spaceship-chair.

The foursome immediately argues over what to play on the radio, until they arrive at a surprising consensus … and are nearly busted by host Carson Daly. Take a look ...

Cassadee Pope knocked off Terry McDermott on The Voice finale last night, taking home this singing competition's top prize.

But prior to having her hand raised by Carson Daly, the rising star actually teamed up with McDermott to perform a rendition of "Catch My Breath."

Oh, and the twosome were joined by a certain American Idol champion. Watch Kelly Clarkson, Pope and McDermott put on a very fun show now:

Cassadee Pope was named the winner on The Voice results show last night after an hour and 58 minutes of filler ... but at least that filler was strong by reality show standards.

Case in point? Rihanna performing "Diamonds" live:

A little awkward that she wasn't singing the backing vocals - performed by herself on the studio track - but she sounds good live (and looks great as always).

The Killers, Bruno Mars and Kelly Clarkson also took the stage on the NBC show's final episode of 2012, with Cassadee Pope joining the latter in her performance.

Do you think C-Pope deserved to win?

For Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David, it came down to this.

The final three performances they delivered last night, along with encores of some of their signature songs thus far, served as their closing arguments.

The Voice Top 3 Picture

Only one could be named The Voice, however, and it was all in voters' hands.

Would it be pitch-perfect rocker Terry? Soulful throwback Nicholas? Pop-country princess Cassadee? Any of the talented trio would make a worthy winner.

But there could be only one, and following an emotional, performance-filled night (118 minutes of filler, but it was strong filler!), we finally have a winner.

So who won the coveted title and who fell just short? Let's find out ...

Before The Voice Top 3 performed for the last time Monday, the NBC show kicked off its finale with a tribute to the victims of Friday's Connecticut school shooting tragedy.

Coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine were joined by ALL the Season 3 contestants for a stirring rendition of "Hallelujah."

Leonard Cohen's song, also popularized by Jeff Buckley's amazing cover, is emotional on an average day. In the wake of the Newtown shooting? Amazingly so.

As the fab four sang lead, their proteges provided backing vocals and all held name cards of the victims and their ages. Watch the moving video below:
