What happened in Mexico did not stay in Mexico on Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 1.

Quite the opposite, in fact. It was broadcast on national television!

For reasons far from clear at first, the opening installment plopped fans right down south of the border, as Stiles and Lydia were debating the merits of a plan.

We then witnessed them wander into a hidden disco that is, of course, also the secret base of the Calaveras family of hunters.

Scott, Kira and Malia were also there, helping out while Stiles and Lydia attempted to bribe Mama Calaveras with Japanese gangster money.

But the hunters had an answer, specifically one that began with wolfsbane-laced mist and ended with rather extensive torture.

We're about one month away from the premiere of Teen Wolf Season 4.

In preparation for the return of Stiles, Scott, Lydia and Derek, MTV has unveiled a new trailer that depicts each of these characters rising from the ashes and preparing for battle.

The trailer includes the tagline "Can't Go Back," as a major death rocked the core group on Season 3 - but their focus will apparently be on future events this summer.

Most will center on a new mysterious villain known as "The Benefactor." Check out the first teaser for this MTV hit now:

We hope you are sitting down, Teen Wolf fans. And that a box of Kleenex is handy. Actually, make that two.

Because Alison Argent is dead.

Yes, on the penultimate episode of Teen Wolf Season 4, this MTV series killed off its female lead.

We started out the hour with The Nogitsune taking Lydia to the Oak Creek internment camp, and with the entire group dead set on finding her.

We also witnessed Allison sharing what turned out to be some foreshadow-y moments with Isaac and her father.

Isaac confirmed that he remembered their night together, while Mr. Argent cast a silver bullet for his daughter… who opted instead for a silver arrowhead.

The new year got off to an exciting start on MTV last night, as Teen Wolf Season 3 kicked off its back run of episodes.

With a narrowed focus that returned the main cast members to the forefront, "Anchors" was the ideal way to get back into the scary swing of things.

Forget outside forces attacking favorites such as Scott, Alison and Stiles. In this case, the actual sanity of these individuals was called into question.

Stiles had nightmares within nightmares. Alison saw some frightening stuff. And Sheriff Stilinski reopened some unsolved cases to take a look at them from a supernatural point of view.

We also met some new characters on the 2014 premiere, a couple especially intriguing ones.

Sit back and watch Teen Wolf online right now to catch up on anything you may have missed:

What is scarier than a mass murderer?

That question is posed and answered in the following trailer for Teen Wolf Season 3, which makes its return to MTV on January 6.

The fun/scary/awesome teaser also gives us a look at Stiles screaming for his life... Alison happily drawing her weapon... and Scott going after a girl.

There are masked men. There are hooded figures. There is talk of evil being unleashed and absolute darkness taking over everything. Sounds like a blast, right?!? Check out the footage now:

Wedding bells are in the future for Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey.

He and longtime girlfriend Seana Gorlick are newly engaged!

The actor confirmed that he and his makeup artist girlfriend of 10 years are planning to wed: "I've been wanting to ask her for years now and I finally did it," he said.

"It's everything I've wanted to do. I finally feel like myself."

Posey popped the question during a recent 12-day trip to Hawaii, even though he admits, "I didn't know if I was going to ... I didn't have a plan or anything."

"I was so damn nervous. I just asked her and it was the coolest thing in the world. Her reaction was the sweetest. I can't even explain it! It's so exciting."

Even more exciting than Teen Wolf Season 3. Congrats!

The truth came out this week on Teen Wolf.

Indeed, Scott is a true alpha, as Dr. Deaton informed this character. And these types only come along once every century or so.

No wonder Deucalion is after him, huh?

Teen Wolf Still

Elsewhere:

  • Through Boyd, Derek learned how Erica died.
  • "My last boyfriend was a homicidal lizard, so I think I can handle a werewolf." - Lydia
  • Boyd was killed - yes, killed! -  at the hands of the Kali, with help of Ethan and Lydia's sex partner Aidan. He died in Derek's arms as the latter apologized.
  • Derek and Pedi totally went at it in a terrific fight scene, made all the more gruesome by her attempts to slash his face with her toes. Can her feet be encased in concrete already?!?

So, where does Teen Wolf Season 3 go from here now that Scott knows Deucalion is in Beacon Hills for him? We have six days to ponder and wonder.

Welcome to the Motel California, Teen Wolf fans.

Following what many had considered a subpar run of episodes, this MTV drama ratcheted up the intensity and drama last night. What a terrific hour of television.

Let's run down all that took place, shall we?

Nightmare for Boyd
  • Stranded on the way to their track meet, the kids checked in to the motel with the highest rate of suicide in California. One of the victims? Mr. Argent's uncle in 1977.
  • With the hashtag "#SherlockStiles" on screen, our hero (along with Lydia and Allison) used their human skills to save their pals from the forces at Capri.
  • Only Lydia could hear the cries of those who killed themselves, due to her connection with Peter.
  • Isaac hid in reaction to the screams that plagued his mind, while Boyd could not shake the nightmare of a baby being drowned in the bathtub. Good thing Lydia and Stiles came to his rescue.
  • There was a great deal of sex.
  • Ms. Blake cared for Derek… without asking very many questions. But here's one: is there any chance she's working for Deucalion?
  • Mr. Argent learned that Deucalion bit his uncle. Uh-oh!
