Lots of people are not fans of the Teen Mom phenomenon. Add Chelsea Handler to that list, and for some surprisingly personal reasons, she revealed.

The E! star described her own personal ordeal with teen pregnancy and the choice that changed her life in an interview with the New York Times.

“We need to be focusing on other things. We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment," she says.

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta and some of these other shows are just racist. Or 16 and Pregnant. Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious? I mean, that makes me want to kill somebody.”

Chelsea Handler knows this situation personally, confessing that she was a pregnant teen who exercised her right to choose, which she's grateful she has.

“I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done,” Chelsea blantantly states. “Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid."

"Those are things that people shouldn’t be dishonest about.”

You have to hand it to the Handler. She does not mince words and is not shy about who she is, even if that means a lot of people won't like what she is.

Just two days after losing primary custody of her daughter, Leah, to baby daddy and occasional fiance Gary Shirley, Teen Mom wreck Amber Portwood partied it up with Shirley at a bar to celebrate her 21st birthday.

Pretty standard for the Anderson, Ind., couple.

Congratulations to Amber on reaching the big 2-1, and more importantly, for marking the milestone last Saturday but not getting arrested! Baby steps!

Amber, Gary and Leah make one big, happy family. Emphasis on .. forget it.

We actually haven't heard much from Amber Portwood in recent weeks, which likely means she's staying out of trouble and getting her $h!t together.

Well, maybe not, but let's take a glass-half-full attitude in honor of her birthday, shall we? She could certainly use all the help she can get ...

The latest Teen Mom drama is off the CHAIN this week.

Estranged from her husband Corey Simms, Leah Messer arrived home to a new rental home she shares with a girlfriend to find messages from concerned pals.

The big news they DESPERATELY needed to tell her?

Corey has a new girlfriend, Amber Scaggs, and it’s serious. So much so, in fact, that he’s ready to become a father to her 11-month-old daughter!

This is entirely misleading. Corey's just dating a chick with a kid.

“Leah’s friends were talking about this Amber girl and asking Leah if she knew her,” says a Leah pal. “Her friends say Corey was cheating with Amber all along.”

However, Corey’s relationship with Amber Scaggs is only a few weeks old, according to another friend, noting that despite the rumors, there was no cheating.

A friend of his says Amber was not even in the picture before Leah Messer and Corey Simms, the parents of twins, filed to end her six-month marriage April 14.

Scaggs denies the cheating rumors as well.

The stars of MTV's Teen Mom are basically a case study in why people should think before becoming parents. It's not all it's cracked up to be, is it?

At the very least, there are pitfalls as well as joys. Most of the ladies know this all too well, with family feuds and even arrest records to prove it.

But through it all, they do their best. Well, mostly. Jenelle is a mess.

So, THG ponders, which Teen Mom star is actually the BEST mom, fighting through adversity and shining bright? Let's break down the candidates:

Amber Portwood: Leah's mom must stand trial for felony neglect of a dependent and domestic battery. She was also in a recent nude photo scandal.

Catelynn Lowell: She gave up her baby for adoption, but she and her boyfriend / stepbrother still have a relationship with the child and its parents.

Chelsea Houska: Chelsea's devoted dad provides for his Aubree's every need. Chelsea herself? Mmmyeah not so much. Three letters, girl. GED.

Farrah Abraham: Despite adversity - losing Sophia's father in a car crash, feuds with his family and her own mom - Farrah goes hard. Respect.

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood's car and home were vandalized last week.

The words "slut," "hoe," and "fu***r" were spray painted on the Ford Taurus owned by the troubled star, whose Anderson, Ind., home was also egged.

All those yolks can be hosed off pretty easily, but the yellow paint on her car? That's pretty rough. You can see some vandalism photos over at Us Weekly.

Gary Shirley was not responsible for the vandalism. Most likely.

Portwood called the police to report the damage. The motive, she says? She's accused by her neighbor, Jamie Monroe, of stealing her baby daddy, Midas Fields.

Yes, that's the dude's real name.

Fields is a maintenance worker who has been living with Jamie for the three years, and they share a one-year-old daughter, Jaicee. So is he shagging Amber?

Gary Shirley and Amber Portwood of Teen Mom fame are not together.

Despite many public sightings with his baby mama in recent weeks - sometimes, they even hold hands - Big Daddy tweeted Wednesday that he's single.

But, just FYI, "of course I got a [daughter] Leah no matter what."

Gary Shirley is back on the market, ladies. Adorable little girl included!

Portwood was charged with three felonies after an attack on Gary Shirley - likely not the first or last of its kind - on an episode of Teen Mom last year.

The Indiana native has been trying to turn things around of late, refraining from trashing Amber in the press and even vowing to lose 100 pounds.

Perhaps a new, more stable woman in his life is the next step.

Tired of being known as just some irresponsible kid who knocked up a girl on Teen Mom, Jo Rivera is looking for a career change ... as a rapper. 

Having put a baby in Kailynn Lowery, he's now putting his musical talents to the test, releasing a music video for his song, "Unthinkable Remix."

The premise of the song, we think, is him trying to seduce an older woman. But not everyone is a fan of Jo's career - Kailyn Lowry included.

"I think he has his priorities mixed up right now. He should be spending quality time with his son while he’s not working," says Teen Mom's Kailyn.

Ouch. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

She does make a valid point. Even Amber Portwood and Catelynn Lowell are being productive these days, talking about safe sex myths with MTV.

Now's not the time to launch your failed rap career, Jo. Get a clue.

The two girls' infamously unplanned pregnancies and baby daddy drama have been documented on the MTV hit show and in celebrity gossip tabloids.

Portwood gave birth to their daughter Leah Leann (whose father is Gary Shirley) in November 2008 and has struggled to remain sane and out of jail.

Lowell and boyfriend Tyler Baltierra welcomed daughter Carolyn "Carly" Elizabeth in 2009, giving her up for adoption in a painfully difficult choice.

16 and Pregnant stars Josh Smith and Jennifer Del Rio, who were involved in a violent altercation this week, had a kid just to get on the show.

So says Josh in court documents after he filed restraining order against Jennifer. She allegedly punched her baby daddy in the face last Friday.

Smith claims his Jennifer Del Rio is a "compulsive liar" who concocted a diabolical scheme to get pregnant, one SO devious it went like this:

Jennifer Del Rio told him she was knocked up already (she wasn't) so he wouldn't wear a condom and then she actually DID get pregnant! Scandalous!

"She was giving me sonogram pictures ... that she claimed was 'our baby' when actually it was her friend's sonogram pictures she copied," he says.

"She lied to me and my parents for three months saying she was pregnant. She wanted so desperately to be on Sixteen and Pregnant."

As for the restraining order, Jennifer filed for a separate restraining order against HIM and claims Josh punched himself in the face to set her up."

The disaster of a couple is scheduled to be back in court on May 2. In light of Josh's claims, we've gotta reopen this ongoing debate at THG ...

Does MTV glorify, and thus encourage, teen pregnancy?

It's really over for Leah Messer and Corey Simms.

That much has been established at this point. It's just a question of why, and what will happen to the couple's poor little twin girls in the aftermath of the split.

OK! reports that shaking hands, Leah Messer lit a cigarette to stop herself from crying as she read her husband Corey's Facebook flirtation with another girl.

“I haven’t been this happy in a long time,” the message read.

The words broke Leah's heart, and tears streamed down her face as her friend Kayla tried to comfort her - even though she had already filed for divorce days earlier.

Just the same, the Teen Mom 2 star is having a hard time facing the fact that her six-month marriage to Corey, the father of her twins, Ali and Aleeah, is over.

The battle between the young couple is about to get uglier, with Corey expected to ask for sole custody, and Corey’s parents prepared to help him financially.

Apparently there are "explosive secrets" that will determine who gets the girls, and according to fellow celebrity news magazine In Touch, abuse allegations.

We have no doubt this is a messed up situation, but putting Leah on the same cover as Jenelle Evans? That's gotta hurt almost as bad as Corey's Facebooking.
