Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback and bona fide NFL legend Joe Montana made an appearance at the 2013 Super Bowl in a commercial for Tide.

Sort of.

Montana showed up as a "miracle" stain in Tide's ad, during which a guy spills food on his white Montana Jersey and a perfect likeness of Joe's face appears.

Soon after comes the press conference, news stories and everyone making a huge deal out of it. Surprisingly, Montana did not make an actual cameo.

But it's definitely him. Take a look at the image blown up:

There was a blackout, a nearly incredible comeback and a controversial VW ad some consider racist.

But the impression many viewers were left with following XLVII was an unusual commercial that aired in the fourth quarter for Dodge Ram.

It lasted two minutes and it featured Paul Harvey intoning that God needed "somebody willing to get up before dawn, milk cows, work all day in the field, milk cows again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board..." so He made a farmer.

Using the Big Guy Upstairs to sell an automobile? It's no wonder this spot continues to make headlines and generate buzz.

What do you think of the Dodge Ram commercial?

Volkswagen just wants you to Get Happy.

That was the tagline the company debuted last night during Super Bowl XLVII.

But one VW Super Bowl commercial is having the opposite affect on some viewers, who view it as racist because a white man is speaking in a Jamaican accent.

What do you think, THGers? Does the company cross a line? Is this disrespectful? Culturally Insensitive? Is the ad racist?

Coke's new Super Bowl ad is being called racist by some. Why?

The ad depicting an Arab walking through the desert with a camel and confronting cowboys, showgirls and other characters has drawn the ire of Arab-American groups.

"Why is it that Arabs are always shown as either oil-rich sheiks, terrorists, or belly dancers?" said Warren David, president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

There's also the fact that in its Super Bowl ad, Coke asks viewers to vote online on which character(s) should win this race for a mythical bottle of Coke.

Viewers cannot vote for the Arab character.

Your take: Is Coke's ad racist?

The extended version of Mercedes' 2013 Super Bowl Commercial has been released, and does not lack for star power ... starting with Willem Dafoe.

As the Dark Lord himself, the actor offers one potential buyer the chance to have a CLA and all that goes with it. Notably walking the red carpet with Kate Upton.

Challenging Usher to a dance-off, posing for magazine covers and generally making the girls swoon? Done, done, done. So will he sell his soul for a CLA?

Not bad as Super Bowl commercials go, especially lately. It doesn't compare to the other Kate Upton Super Bowl ad for Mercedes, but really, what does.

A challenge has been extended to Kate Upon.

While that super, duper model stars in a Mercedes Super Bowl commercial that some consider too hot for television, another beautiful blonde - Kaley Cuoco - keeps it clean and still entertaining in an upcoming ad for Toyota.

Watch now as The Big Bang Theory star grants a few wishes for a family and shills for the Rav4. This 60-second commercial will air during Super Bowl XLVII.

Is it worth the millions of dollars such a timeslot costs for a company?

It's Kate Upton's Mercedes Super Bowl ad too hot for TV?

The Parents Television Council (PTC) sure thinks so.

"This ad [reinforces] for millions of wives, daughters and sisters across the country that you use your sex appeal to get what you want," a spokeswoman for the group said.

Sex appeal to sell cars? It's a stunning concept, we know.
