A Utah community is mourning the death of a soccer referee, Ricardo Portillo, who was allegedly punched in the head by a teen he called a penalty on.

The punch occurred April 27, and he died May 4, Salt Lake City police say.

Portillo, 47, passed away after slipping into a coma after being hospitalized from the attack. He reportedly suffered from extreme swelling of his brain.

The 17-year-old was arrested for aggravated assault, but prosecutors could add more charges related to the man's death. He may be tried as an adult.

Earlier this week, Jason Collins came out as gay, making him the first openly homosexual active player in a major American sport.

And the outpour of support just keeps on coming!

Kobe Bryant is the Collins' latest peer to stand behind the Wizards Center.

When the story first broke, Bryant tweeted "Proud of @jasoncollins34. Don't suffocate who u r because of the ignorance of others."

Now, he's told E! that "The biggest key is for everybody to be comfortable being themselves."

The Laker added "As his peers we have to support him, just rally around him."

Comcast SportsNet Chicago reporter Susannah Collins has been fired after making an epic gaffe the other night that led to revelations about her past.

"Due to circumstances unrelated to her on-air remarks Tuesday, Susannah Collins and Comcast SportsNet Chicago have parted ways," CSN Chicago said.

"We appreciate everything that Susannah has contributed to our network over the past year and wish her the best in her future endeavors."

Tuesday, the Chicago Blackhawks reporter said that the NHL hockey team had a "tremendous amount of sex during the regular season."

She meant to say "success."

After the Houston Rockets upset the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of their NBA playoff series, CSN Houston had a lot to discuss on its postgame show.

Namely the toddler with its pants down wandering out onto the empty OKC floor and straight into the middle of the network's live camera shot.

Check out the awesome clip from Wednesday's late night coverage:

It's unclear who the offending youngster belongs to ... but pretty funny. The only thing lacking here? An impromptu rendition of "Pants on the Ground."

No word on whether another half-naked toddler will attempt to video bomb TV coverage of this evening's pivotal Game 6 in Houston. We can only hope.

Tennis legend Jimmy Connors strongly implies in his new book, The Outsider, that fellow star and former fiancee Chris Evert aborted his baby.

Nearly 40 years after the couple was scheduled to marry, the always-outspoken Connors has apparently decided to spill this personal secret.

Jimmy Connors Book Cover

Connors writes, “An issue had arisen as a result of youthful passion, and a decision had to be made as a couple,” according to the New York Post.

“Chrissie called to say she was coming out to L.A. to take care of the ‘issue.’ I was perfectly happy to let nature take its course and accept responsibility for what was to come.”

Evert and Connors never married.

The Boston Celtics shocked the basketball world last night by keeping their season alive in New York, defeating the Knicks 92-86 in Game Five of the NBA Playoffs.

But the real fireworks were saved until after the game, when Celtics benchwarmer Jordan Crawford got into it with Raymond Felton and Carmelo Anthony.

Watch the fracas below:

Did this beef have anything to do with Kevin Garnett telling Anthony awhile back that his wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios?

Former New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley was quietly arrested for child abuse back in February, just days after his release by the team.

Boley

The 30-year-old Boley had been under investigation by police in Alabama for a 2011 incident involving his son, who was five years old at the time.

The details of the alleged abuse are unclear, although sources tell us the allegations were of a physical nature and do NOT involve sexual abuse.

What happens when you hybridize soccer and basketball?

This pretty freaking cool alley-oop clip, that's what!

In a charity basketball dunk contest, renowned dunkers "Pat The Roc" and Gary "G" Smith executed the reverse heel-kick and the finish, respectively.

The clip's YouTube description says it "might be the greatest alley-oop ever performed." We'd argue that LeBron's alley-oop to himself beats it.

It was, after all, in a game. But props, Pat the Roc and G!

The Westboro Baptist Church, in response to Jason Collins coming out as gay this week, says it plans to protest a couple of NBA Playoff games.

Because, apparently, God hates the NBA.

Or #GodH8sTheNBA in Twitter parlance.

The WBC concludes this, of course, because they really do not like homosexuality, and Collins just became the first openly gay player in major U.S. team sports.

Therefore, they will picket Wednesday’s Game 5 between Oklahoma City and Houston, and tomorrow night’s Game 6 between Chicago and Brooklyn.

The Chicago Blackhawks finished the 2012-2013 regular season with a record of 36-7-5, good enough for the best record in the Western Conference.

They will square off against the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the playoffs and they are primed and ready because they've had a lot of sex this season and...

... wait. What?!?

Watch Susannah Collins of CSN Chicago makes a rather embarrassing snafu in the following clip:
