Turns out, this soccer-loving dog isn't the only World Cup fan around.

Thousands of fans gathered in Kansas City yesterday to watch the United States take on Ghana in first round action, having barely settled in for the game when Clint Dempsey put America on the board with a goal 34 seconds into the match.

Let's take a look at how the group reacted when Dempsey's left-footed strike found the back of the net, shall we?

For a company that flies all around the world, Delta may wanna work on its knowledge of geography.

The airline sent a congratulatory Tweet to the United States World Cup team yesterday after that squad's exciting 2-1 opening round victory over Ghana.

The message included a photo of the Statue of Liberty to represent America and a picture of a giraffe to represent Ghana.

The only problem? Not a single giraffe resides in Ghana.

Delta Tweet

In fact, Twitter user @dcGisenyi determined that the image used in the Delta Tweet was actually a stock portrait of a giraffe at the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya... which is located 3,000 miles away.

Not every dog can be a goal-scoring machine... who also excels at playing goalie.

But that doesn't mean other, less talented canines can't still be very into the globe's most popular sport.

Case in point: The following four-legged friend, who is far more excited about the 2014 World Cup than most casual sports fans who use the event as an excuse to get wasted with co-workers.

Watch him react to every pass, save and free kick now:

Granted, this pet probably thinks that kicked ball is coming his way and he just wants to chase it... but still.

Tony Gwynn, a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and one of the best hitters in the history of the national pastime, died this morning at the age of 54.

The San Diego Padres, for whom Gwynn played and accumulated 3,141 hits from 1982-2001, confirmed his death on its official Twitter feed Monday.

"We are terribly sad to say goodbye to our teammate, our friend and a legend, Tony Gwynn. Rest in peace, Mr. Padre," the team posted just moments ago.

Tony G

The baseball legend had been battling salivary gland cancer, a fight he began in 2009 when a malignant tumor was removed from his right cheek.

Gwynn claimed that the cancer in the salivary gland was a result of his longtime habit of chewing tobacco. The cancer returned twice after 2009.

He underwent surgery in early 2012; in each case Gwynn valiantly fought back with the positive attitude, patience and resolve he showed on the field.

Gwynn's physical appearance - not even 6' and over 200 pounds - defied his athleticism; his frame was a self-described "body by Betty Crocker."

We've all been there.

Your favorite team just scored a touchdown. Something really cool happened in a movie. You're surrounded by a bunch of rowdy folks in Times Square.

And all you wanna do is celebrate, to bond with your fellow man in the most basic and simple of ways: a high-five.

But sometimes this action isn't as simple as it sounds. One person is readying a fist bump, perhaps. Or your hopeful high-fiving cohort is turning his or her back at the last second.

It can be embarrassing. It can be heart-wrenching. But, as the following gallery should prove, it can also happen to anyone.

Even Tom Brady!

This May Leave a Mark
OUCH! Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network nearly takes out this fan's eye with an overly enthusiastic high-five.

Are Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha just a very private couple? As in so private that only a handful of photos show them together on the entire Internet?

Or are they, as a new rumor suggests, not a couple at all?

Kerry Washington, Nnamdi Asomugha

The Scandal star likes to keep the details of her personal life quiet. That much is undeniably true, and we respect her for it. In this day and age especially.

Getting personal information out of Washington is a fool's errand, which both leads to increased gossip and makes you wonder about her even more.

The coupling of Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha caught fans of both off guard from the star. Few knew they were even together at all.

Gay rumors have occasionally followed both the actress and the NFL player, prompting talk that the surprise marriage was an arrangement of sorts.

In other words, Kerry wanted a baby and wanted a man in her life when she had one, and had a relationship of some kind with Asomugha, who fit the bill.

Move over, Air Bud.

And make room for Purin the Beagle!

In a video that will make you feel athletically inferior to an animal with four legs and a tail, the following footage features this adorable canine scoring multiple goals and making multiple saves.

Oh, yes, Purin plays offense and defense and forget Landon Donovan.... why isn't this little guy on the U.S. World Cup roster?!?

With apologies to this amazing diaper-changing puppy, Purin is the most talented dog in the storied history of this species.

He shoots. He scores... points for cuteness!
